July,2022We were not aware that they only serve small western eggs and sausage breakfast. We paid full japanese breakfast price and expected traditional Japanese style breakfast as stated in their website and other reviewers, very disappointed and I wouldn't recommended if you come here to experience the Japanese style food.

Great hotel to stay at for a traditional onsen experience. First time using the mixed bath and loved it, cause it’s great for couples and families. (This mixed bath doesn’t allow full nudity so they have special clothes to wear when entering the mixed bath) The traditional rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff are very professional and welcoming. Loved the breakfast and dinner they provided with great food and fantastic service. Already planning on going back next year.

Really great. Staff able to speak English well enough. They have affordable restaurant ($6-12) on first floor with vegetarian options, including an Indian food menu. Onsens are really great. Get to cover up if use outdoor one, however still have to take shower and walk through private onsen area mostly naked if you are shy, though no need for shyness in Japan. Highly recommend this hotel

I personally didn't find the Japanese futons to be comfortable due to my back issues but I won't dock them a star since others in my group used them just fine. (IE that's mostly a me issue.) You've GOT to go to the hot spring here. They have four different pools each of which has a different mineral in it. There are two on the women's side and continues through an additional changing room to another two in the mixed genders section. This section also happens to be women's only after 10PM at night. (And that additional changing room provides a bathing cover so shield from anyone looking out of their windows to the open air hot springs section below.) It was such a lovely and relaxing experience, a highlight of the trip!

Grand Hotel but decor is abit dated but nevertheless we had a great time staying there. The Onsen was good with many options, the food was delicious, the areas around the hotel have so many photographic opportunities. And the old train carriage was unique and highlight of the Hotel.

We loved staying here, the japanese style rooms are so big and comfortable! 🥰 This was the first time for us to stay at a ryokan, but it was amazing. ❤ The Onsen part and the food was also perfect. We couldnt finish our food, because we got so much of it!! You get kaiseki menu for every dinner, which is a high-end and really complex japanese menu, and they serve hida beef, which is really expensive and great quality. Recommended! Although the staff speak limited English, they try to do their best and help you with everything. If you book this hotel you have to travel more than one hour from Takayama, keep that in your mind!

This is a wonderful hotel, with a beautiful onsen. We are from the USA, but chose to experience a Japanese style meal and room. We really enjoyed our stay, and the hotel staff took great care of us.

Service was a bit poor. Was given a room on lowest floor right next to elevator with no view. Only given medium bathrobes despite 5 guests. The hot spring baths was fairly nice though.

Onsen in the Japanese alps. Great food served in a private dining room. Bath has many indoor and outdoor pools and a decent sauna.

I'd like to spend 2 days here to enjoy the scenery and the various baths. The food was gorgeously presented!

🫤 Don't bother with this place, it is overrated. Parking outside and toilets inside. Seems very clean and the food was actually really good, but the service was slow and at exactly 3pm we were yelled at (and so we're other people), to get out as they were closing. We arrived at 2:15, took 10 minutes...
