The inn is extremely cosy. Located about a 7 minute walk from the train station. I had a small Japanese style room with a private toilet. The room was clean, bed comfortable and my quilt was warm. My room was next to the shared lounge and kitchen and I didn't experience any disturbances. There was a shared bathroom which was clean and tidy. Also coin laundry facilities on site which was useful. The staff at the inn were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and gave some great recommendations on where to go. Would definitely stay here again if I were to return.

First thing to know is that the futons here are super comfortable! I had a wonderful night's sleep on what felt like a cloud and got some nice mountain air with the windows open. My husband and I stayed in a room with a private bath, and while the room had a strong smell of the tatami rice mats when we first walked in, with some air circulation, the room was comfortable, everything was clean, and the staff was helpful when asking questions, storing bags, etc. The hotel is also very conveniently located near the center of Takayama so you are set to go out and explore for the morning, afternoon, or evening no matter when you check in or out. For simple but comfortable accommodations, definitely book a spot at the Rickshaw Inn.

Great staying experience. We had the big bamboo room just nice for 4. Clean. The host can speak English. It's has a common where allows to cook, we end up to cook hida beef ourselves which is cheaper with big portion. Thanks to the host to provide such wonderful facilities

My family and I stayed in a Japanese style room. The room is kind of small for us with all of our luggages, but it is clean and comfortable to stay in. The location is very close to the old street and the morning market. The staffs can speak English and they are very nice.

This is a neat and well managed place of accommodation, with friendly English speaking staff. It is relatively easy to find and is only a short walk from the train station. The room is clean and comfortably set up with basic amenities. There is a lounge and kitchen on the second floor where u can watch TV, enjoy a drink and cook and eat your meals.

The room is comfortable, despite not having toilet and shower in the room. The stairs are a little annoying but nothing to complain about. Really close to the station and to old town. Overall I enjoyed the stay.

Great value stay while in Takayama. The rooms are decently sized by Japanese standards with good, clean facilities. The owner is very nice and can help provide recommendations for restaurants nearby. It’s well-located, less than 10 minute walk from the train station, a minute walk from the main area of restaurants, and a 5-10 minute walk to al other sights like the morning markets and museums. There is a large parking lot right next door, so it’s also a great option for anyone driving.

The rooms are spacious. And you can use their lounge and kitchenette if needed. The lounge is so spacious, good to relax in after a long day. Hot water is always available in the lounge, for you to make a cup of tea, coffee. One small thing to note though for those visiting during winter, the bathroom are not insulated, it gets a little cold while taking a shower. The heaters in the room are sufficient to keep you warm at night. It got abit too warm that we off the heater before we went to sleep although we were only there early december, probably not that cold by takayama's standard.

Cozy spot near one of the main streets of Takayama. Everything was at a walking distant. Very calm, helpful staff and big room.

The hotel is located in the best part of the city. Close to everything you need and want to see. The host suggested some really nice restaurants as was very helpful. The room was nice and tidy, and the inn provides amenities like shampoo, tooth brush and paste, razor, etc. The inn also has a laundry where you can clean your clothes for a price. My only complain was that the tatami room had a strong smell whenever we arrived from our day out, but nothing that opening the windows for a few minutes didn't solve.

Wonderful ryokan!! Really comfortable mattress futon and plenty of heating to stay warm in the winter. It was cosy and the staff were super friendly - a really fun traditional stay and only a 5min walk to old town takayama and the main restaurants and shops area. Loved it!!
