It is a standard hotel located near station of ropeway. The staff will perform Japanese hospitality. You can enjoy outdoor baths and special cuisine in this area. Amazing and caring hospitality for a coeliac. We visited Hotel Hotaka in May for 2 nights. Upon arrival, I told them my girlfriend was a coeliac and was unable to eat anything containing gluten. They immediately rang the chef and for the whole 4 meals they prepared an alternate, gluten-free meal for her. Some of us were even envious of the stuff she got instead, haha. The hotel staff were very helpful and professional, and for a couple of days we didn't have to stress out over what could and couldn't be eaten. The room we had had an amazing view of the river and mountain, the onsens were great, and we made good use of the private karaoke room as well :) Fantastic spot.

Excellent hotel right next to the ropeway. The staff here are exceptional, rooms are well maintained, clean and they have western or non-western styles. Nice bathrooms, western shower, and the hotel onsen is excellent. There are also free public onsens a short walk (south of the hotel) that are open all hours and usually empty, just follow the river/road. This is one of the most exceptionally beautiful places I have ever been, there are onsen baths freely available dotted around this entire area. Bathing in the sulphur onsens outside in the snow is something I will never forget. Hotel food is traditional Japanese, well prepared and good ingredients. Cost is 50,000 yen per person per dinner. If you don't drive here you can take the Nouhi buses into town if you feel like eating somewhere else / going to the shop. Last bus is at 7:37 pm every day and costs about 800-900 yen to get to the nearest town.

We loved our stay at Hotel Hotaka. The staff was amazing and very attentive. We stayed for 2 nights in a room with balcony. We got a view of the mountains and it was breathtaking in the snow. The hotel is right next to the bus stop and ropeway station so it was really convenient. The onsen was beautiful and clean with so many amenities. Food was absolutely fantastic. Ingredients are fresh and we were fed so much. My partner didn’t like sweet but he finished the desserts before I did. The menus were well put together and every dish was delicate. Wish we could stay longer.

Excellent hotel conveniently near the Hotaka/Kamikochi hiking area. The gift shop has a good variety of local goods, and the staff are friendly and helpful, even to dripping wet hikers who in come after 7PM without reservations. The hot springs, especially the outdoor ones, are excellent, spacious and very well appointed and designed. There is also a pub and cafe here.

A beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. A spectacular 8 course dinner and without doubt the most delicious breakfast I have ever eaten. A lovely outdoor onsen and rooms with astonishing mountain views. A perfect place to relax.

Great place to stay. The staff was waiting to greet me at the front of the hotel when the bus arrived. The bus stop is just next to the hotel. Really convinience to go there. And you can easily took the first ride to Shinhotaka ropeway. The dinner was average for the ryokan style. (My average is good.) The snack in the room was senbei and I really like it. It gets along well with the tea. The seasonal dishes like salted-grilled sanma is great. And I got a chance to taste the local dishes like Hoba miso and the freshly made tofu at breakfast. I really enjoy staying there.

Excellent hotel. The view of the mountains from the outside baths was one of the best I've been to. 800円 if you just want to use the baths and not stay at hotel. Highly recommend.

How excited we have when came to 2 stars Michelin of viewing hotel, and we didn't feel upset. Because they provided the wonderful service, especially foods and natural onsen, great mountain view. Dinner/breakfast room space is big, warm and dishes was really delicious with Hida beef (that you might not find in your country because I think Kobe beef did the good job in international marketing, but with Hida beef, you have to come to Japan to enjoy, Japanese is quiet of subtle) I could walk about 50m to Shinhotaka Ropeway where spectacular snow mountain ranges may attract all your view. You could see my picture I taken Believe me, you have to book dinner and breakfast included when there are no convenient stores near by. I hope you do the great time in this miracles place. Tip: this place is more quite than Shirakawa-go, suit for whom really love nature screen.

The staff didn't speak English at all, so it took a long time to find out about hot springs, dinner and the surrounding area. During dinner, the menu was not translated into English, so we did not understand what we were eating. The most disappointing thing was that when I woke up in the morning, I found my whole body covered with bites. When I went to explain and ask to disinfect the room, the staff could not understand or offer anything, the only thing was that they gave me an anti-itch cream.
