Very good guesthouse, nice common area, spacious beds and very clean overall. The owners and staff are super friendly and helpful. They helped us plan our trip and had some good tips. On top of that they really went above and beyond by helping me to locate my phone (which I lost on the way there) and in the end I got it back! Definitely recommend this place!

Fantastic guesthouse with a real family vibe. The hosts are incredibly kind and the guesthouse has a great rustic feel -fitting for Takayama. The guesthouse is smaller than commercial hostels so there there are limited facilities. Also note that first time access to the hostel is limited unless you coordinate in advance. Not an issue if you plan for it, but worth noting. The smallest accommodation means a more friendly atmosphere, not only with the hosts, but with the other guests as well. Also with noting that the location is fantastic. Close to the train/ bus station and close the Old Town and morning markets as well. Overall great experience! (Obligatory picture of Luke - the resident cat and building guesthouse manager)

We had such a wonderful time in this guest house. The foyer has a great homely feel and very hygge with all you need: hot tea/coffee at your disposal. And you can have a chat with the hosts, other guests, work or read - your choice! The hosts are very friendly and always happy to help you out with local tips or even have hot water bottles ready for you on cold nights ☺️. Oh and they have the fluffiest, funniest cat (fear not he is very of wary of guests' privacy) We had a private room which was great, clean and the futon beds were super comfortable. The shared bathroom was very clean too.

This guesthouse is closed the Takayama station, can walk in 5 mins. Room is the same as their picture. Bed and bathroom are clean and comfortable, but there are too less rooms (only 2 bathroom and 2 toilet). There are a convenience store (7-eleven) opposite the guesthouse and public parking nearby (walk in 3 mins, it is not expensive for parking fee). Staffs are so nice and friendly.

Very nice comfy hostel. The hosts were all very nice and spoke good English. I would definitely stay again. It's within walking distance of all the sights.

Warm little guest house that is very close to the train station and within walking distance of most of the relevant sights. We chose a traditional room that was spacious and spartan (Japanese, really) . Kuma, Nao and Aya are kind hosts and make you feel welcome. Luke their cat is quite a character and serves as an ice breaker in the evening when the tired guests sit together for a little drink. If you want to have an opportunity to talk to local people, many of the guests are Japanese. Should you be the type of person who is embarrassed to share bathrooms, you will have to wait until late at night or early in the morning to get some privacy, even so I bumped into a gentleman who thought he was being stealthy too at 3 am. ^_^

If you prefer smaller hostels, you have got to stay here. The hostel was cozy and very clean. The people working at the hostel are super friendly! I would come back to this hostel :)
