Excellent. Very clean, quiet and organized hostel. Really good location right down the street from the train station. We took a private room with a bathroom inside, and everything was great. Only complaint is that the toilet paper is quite thin.

The hostess was super friendly. We asked for a good sushi restaurant and we definitly got one! She made the reservation wich was sweet. The room was big, with a lot of space and the showers were clean. In the living area there was much to see and do (games). It was Nice.

The guest house / hostel is a nice with good amenities that you would want at a hostel. We stayed in a family room and unfortunately we had guest next to us that were not considerate of other and made loud noise (party jumping around) late into the night (after 2am) did not sleep for 2 night in a row. This is not the guest house fault but walls are very very thin and the manager was told about the noise issue

The room are very clean. But when you walk around the hallway, the parquet will make a noisy sound. So if you wanna go bed so late, you must walk very carefully. At this hostel, you can go to the bath room until 24.00. Then there are two types of toilet here, the one with bidet and another one without bidet. At this hostel there are a kitchen room so you can chit chat with other guests.

Great confort for excellent price! Not too far from the JR Station, Honmachi neighborhood and old Town. The Japanese style private room had everything we needed. You get a discount for coffee when checking in which is so pleasant after a day of walking through the city. The kitchen is so well equipped which allows you to cook fresh products that you can find on the nearby supermarket. The staff is extremely friendly and speaks good English. They helped us call restaurants to make reservation and gave us a lot of information about the nice places in the Takayama region. I would definitely recommend it!

Very good place to stay. I stayed there for 1 night with my 3 friends. They have arranged 1 room with connected kitchen, drawing room and toilet. Beds were very comfortable. It was one of the most comfortable night. Person in-charge is very helpful.

Great place for your stay in Takayama. We had a private room with 8 tatami for 2 persons. Staff is very friendly with good English. Kitchen is fully equipped, there is a choice of tea and coffee.

Its a newer hostel so the premises and building are really nice. Really well organised and have lots of good information with a nice rest area with free use computers. Female dorms have more room and better walls.

Beautiful room, really nice staff. Communal kitchen and lounge, all good. Approx 10 min walk from JR station, and 10 mins from Sannomachi.

Really disappointing. We've booked 2 nights in a Japanese style bedroom for a couple and when we arrived the lady told us our bedroom has a problem with the bathroom so they've "upgraded" us. However instead of a Japanese style room with futons they gave us a western style bedroom with 4 single beds. The room was boring without any Japanese style. We aren't in Japan to sleep in the same bed (and even inconfortable ones in Ouka Guesthouse) than at home. They said we are lucky because we have a big kitchen on our floor of 3 bedrooms. Yes true but we didn't mind as we didn't plan to use it at all. And the second disappointment was that on our floor there were 3 bedrooms and one of them had a big Japanese door so pretty sure it was a Japanese style bedroom. Unoccupied for 2 nights. Anyway. Worst experience we had during our trip in Japan. I would expect more than a simple "sorry".

I’ll book this hostel again when I visit Takayama next time. The hostel is close to Nohi Bus Station (8 min on foot), and clean shower room. lobby is great too. the staff is friendly. Nice place for backpackers.
