Stayed here for 2 days in April 2017. The service was amazing, this is the place where japanese hospitality is to the highest standards even when I didn't speak Japanese at all. Room was warm, bed was comfy, great view to the river through the window. Food was awesome. I hope to visit again some time.

We stayed one night in this historical building. Staffs are friendly and English speaking, they tried their best to introduce the hotel and gave us a hotel tour. Traditional Japanese tea and snack is served before checking in. Our room is in tradition style, spotless and cozy. Breakfast is delicate traditional, although it is very suit my taste. We had a very enjoyable night, thank you.

Hida is a beautiful town. Came here for a 4-night ryokan stay at Yatsusankan and join the Hida Furukawa Matsuri festival. The whole experience in Yatsusankan is wonderful and memorable from the time we arrived until the end of our stay. Rooms are spacious, clean and beautiful. Facilities including Onsen bath are very good. Our meals were delicious, special thanks to their chief chef Naoki Akita. All the staff were warm hearted, sincere and doing their best to make us feel comfortable and happy. I definite recommend to anyone who wishes to experience a ryokan stay. Definitely coming back to Yatsusankan and lovely Hida.

The おもてなし hospitality of the staff was wonderful. Also, the dinner and breakfast courses were fantastic, allowing us to enjoy the best of Japanese cuisine. With the location being in the quiet town of Hida-Furukawa, it is a perfect getaway to treat yourself over a weekend.

Stayed here back in 2005 and it was one of the best places that I stayed that trip and still one of the most memorable places I've stayed in Japan to date. The room was in the newer section of the ryokan was spacious and had a nice view of the river and temple opposite. The food was also really good, with some regional specialities.

A beautiful ryokan in an amazing place. This was a really special stay on our Japan trip. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The ryokan has beautiful rooms and views. Our room looked over the temple and river and we had a gorgeous private onsen which was heaven. The ryokan also has a selection of public onsen which guests can use. Before 7pm they offer free sake which is a lovely treat. The traditional Japanese meals of multiple courses served in private dining rooms are out of this world. Both nights we were treated to incredible food. I could not recommend this ryokan more it was such a wonderful Japanese experience of amazing hospitality.

It's very beautiful and the hosts are very attentive, greeting you at the door and showing you everything. Highly recommend, especially for Your Name fans.

Lovely ryokan with nice onsen, excellent food and helpful staff. Good location near town and various izakaya for after dinner.

I have stayed in countless hotels, but this is my first time wanting to leave a review. Firstly the staff were great, extremely welcoming and kind. The room was spacious and quite beautiful in itself with a spectacular view of the temple. Being in Hida away from the business of Tokyo we opted for room and board for a full relaxing experience and it did not disappoint, dinner was well thought out and the service was exceptional. The onsens themselves were lovely but the bath in our room (TAMAYURA)was amazing with an outstanding view. It’s by no means cheap but definitely worth it, we hope to be back on our next trip. My only gripe, (which is one I have found to be throughout Japan) is check in is only after 2/3pm!

Traditional ryokan with impressive service! We had a great time at yatsusankan. The staff spoke fluently english and was very welcoming. The food is traditional japanese so it can be overwhelming for western guests not used to japanese food. You will experience real japanese hospitality at this ryokan. Hida-furukawa is a beautiful town with a lot of small shops and cosy buildings. We also got free shuttle service back to the train station.

I stayed at Yatsusan-kan for two nights with my fianceé on our honeymoon trip, and we had an incredible experience. The staff and service at Yatsusankan were top-notch, attentive, welcoming; the onsen experience was amazing (especially the outdoor baths); and the breakfast course + "kaiseki" style fine dining dinner were some of the best dishes I've tasted in my life. This really made a wonderful end to our trip, and I highly recommend Yatsusan-kan to all.

The property is next to a beautiful river. We were greeted before we even entered the property! Shown a tour of the facility and also our room. We chose a room with a private onsen and an amazing view of "downtown" with a gorgeous temple in the foreground. DINNER: To DIE for! 🤤😵 8 courses, all small (thank God), but supremely filling, even about half way through: adventurous or familiar with Japanese cuisine eaters only! Rather than a few items with many bites, they offer many items with few bites. Opinion trigger warning! 😝 Personally, I find that the first few bites of any dish are amazing and I quickly acclimate to the flavor and while it remains great, it loses some "wow" factor. Here, this never happens as there is very little of each item to sample. In short, you are stuck in "wow" mode for the almost 2 hours it takes to eat dinner! I know I've said "little" and "small" a lot, but rest assured you will not leave hungry! BREAKFAST: In true form, lots of small bites including pickles, house made miso heated over charcoal, and a small dried fish also grilled. All delicious! A wonderful start to the day.

My wife and I's stay at Yatsusankan was amazing. We stayed at many onsens during our whirlwind through Japan, but this was by far our favorite. The facility is old but very well kept. The people and service were outstanding. The food was delicious and plentiful. The town itself is very peaceful and great for site seeing. Also, there are two sake breweries within a few minutes walk that were quite good! I can't recommend Yatsusankan enough! It was our favorite part of our trip.
