I've lived in takayama going on 4 years now and I've yet to find a better place for drinking on a Friday or Saturday night than here. While it's a little further from the station than many easier to find areas you'll find the atmosphere, people and range of small and easy to enter stores unbeatable. The area directly surrounding this place also has a wide range of restaurants and bars so no two nights here are the same. I really recommend it and encourage you to have a talk with the locals and bartenders who always have great local information on hand.

Good good food, cosy atmosphere because small place, nice feeling in this area. Quite a new area, but already feels good, worth a visit and the sashimi was exellent. Many nice place to try here, so please enjoy the area. The fresh beer was very good too. Please visit here when you go to Takayama. There are a lot larger Yokocho in Japan, but not in Takayama, so whilst it's not a big area, it's is still worth visiting and if your new to Takayama you will enjoy the small streets on the way to this Yokocho. There are some shops that may be closed as the timing of open hours is not the same for every shop, so please be aware of that before you go Please give it a try.

Unreasonably expensive! You can go to a nice comfortable restaurant at the same price, instead of eating at the stalls. Also, the food are not good too. Treating tourists! I will never GI to this place again!

You get to grill your own food in the company of a great host, the food is great even tho when we were there not all menu items were available, great service!

This compared to other yokocho in Japan is a let-down imo,the size and the crowd are tepid and unenthusiastic. You could even see some owner of the shop dozed off which kinda make the whole scenario a bit hilarious.

Good variety of quality bars. Recommended way to spend an evening.

The goyza and fried chicken was very good.
