Authentic ramen shop filled with locals. Tells you a lot if a menu has just handfull of options and restaurant is sucking in customers. Ramen tasted wonderful, mayby not the best tasting ramen on our whole Japan trip but close (I like more thick sauced ramens)! The broth has more delicate taste and roasted pork was tender and mouthwatering. Really affordable joint and the food was excellent. 5/5 for the price.

My first takayama ramen. This place makes it easy for you. There is only one variety. The broth is a bit fishy, that's the specialty of this shop. The restaurant has an old style interior. I like it

It's located in a small alley. The ramen is super delicious. The broth and the noodles match perfectly. I'd also recommend the half boiled egg! The owner are super kind and the place have a good ambience. Will absolutely eat there again

Great little place for local style Takayama ramen. Traditional seating only except for counter seats. Beware all you foreigners, I think I got a few leg cramps after I was done sitting cross legged . House special shoyu is extra daishi flavor meaning it’s leaning more to the sea. The noodles are thicker and don’t absorb the broth as much. Takayama is a lighter broth with lighter curly noodles that absorb the broth flavors. I prefer the latter. It comes with 3 meats: the most moist chicken breast, pork and beef. Egg is extra so I recommend ordering it. Friendly staff and a popular place so come early or sign in and wait outside.

Unassuming spot serving up delicious bowls of takayama ramen and house specialty shoyu ramen. The chashu rice bowl was especially tasty. Skip the lines around the corner and come here instead 😄

Tremendously slow service. The Takayama ramen was good though, the egg definitely gave it a special taste. Also the texture of the ramen is not typical.

decent ramen for a decent price: nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. however, the special shoyu ramen did feature a slice of chicken breast, unusual for a ramen, but it was quite delicious and juicy. would recommend this dish over the others just for that.

Great ramen - just two choices shoyu or Takayama. We ordered one of each. Broth was yummy (not salty) and everything tasted fresh.

Nice bowls of ramen. Light and subtle flavors. Simple menu. We got both bowls—the Takayama ramen had thinner noodles and a broth with a stronger dashi flavor. Both had just the right amount of sodium! I can’t say which one I liked better, but slightly prefer the noodles in the Takayama; they were thinner, curly, and had a nice bite to it. Try both ramen with a little bit of white pepper, it really brings out the flavor. The pork in the Takayama and the chicken in the shoyu were both cooked perfectly. Tender, but not too meaty/gamey. Service was friendly and fast. The shop is off a main road and not too hard to find. We went at 11:15 right after they opened and there was no line.

The broth is rich and flavourful. I could see the ramen master testing the soup before he served us. The noodles are al dente. Perfect bowl of hot piping Takayama noodle soup for a cold weather. The ramen master is is cheerful and friendly. A happy soul makes good food! Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍👍.

Very simple menu, but also very nice homely broth that has dried oyster in it, especially sugoi during the cold winter. With only one choice of ramen on the menu, the owners can actually focus on preparing the ramen broth well. I also recommend getting the Roast Pork Don, the pork was heavenly. Get the tamago also to complete your meal. Most memorable ramen I had in Japan, which I still crave for even up till today back home 3,215 miles away.
