Amazingly sweet and welcoming owner, with extremely high quality Japanese tea (trust me - I drink a lot of it). The cafe is nestled on a side street and so isn’t obvious to find, but it’s 1000% worth going! It also has a beautiful in-house garden that is extremely beautiful and creates such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Don’t miss it!

What a hidden gem!!! Very delicious desserts (ice cream, crepes, parfait etc.) and good coffee as well as matcha! The service is incredibly kind and sweet. The cafe is on a side street and it’s not so obvious from the outside where to enter but if you use Google maps you’ll find it. The architecture is traditional Japanese and so beautiful and calming. It also has a stunning in-house garden - the perfect place to relax and have an afternoon break. Card payment is possible. 1000% recommended!!!

Really delicious food, amazing space, and friendly staff! The cafe surrounds a beautiful courtyard you can enjoy while eating/drinking... It's not on a main road so it isn't too crowded either, so it's a nice break from the crowds of tourists in other cafes in Takayama. It's in an older building too, so it's a nice way to see inside a traditional "old house" of Takayama. Really decent prices too, and their matcha seems very high quality. They also have a large selection of vegan options (any of their coffee or tea lattes can be made with soy milk, and as of March 2023 they seem to have a vegan (or at the very least dairy-free) soft serve.) The staff are also very friendly here... They don't rush you at all and are always attentive. They also being you nice black tea after you're finished with your main drink/dessert! This cafe is right next to the showa museum so I highly recommend stopping in for a rest! I think it's a must see/experience while in Takayama (particularly if you like warabi mochi and/or matcha!) Edit 3/13/23 I came back the next day since I could not stop thinking about this cafe's Warabimochi... I asked the waitress and yes in fact the soy milk soft serve is 100% vegan! If you tell the waitress that you don't eat dairy she'll make sure to leave out the whipped cream so you can enjoy this dessert. It was so delicious! The ice cream had a really deep soy milk flavor and is definitely the best dairy-free soft serve I've had in Japan. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how thoughtful the staff is with allergies and how friendly and accommodating they are! I hope to come back to this cafe many times on my next trip in Takayama. Highly recommend!!!

A beautiful hidden gem in Takayama. We came two days in a row because we loved the delicious sweets and relaxing, atmosphere so much. They play nice cozy jazz music and the seats are so comfortable, plus there is a gorgeous garden view. Highly recommend the warabi mochi and the fuku parfait, yum!!!

Big but cozy cafe in a traditional Japanese home-like setting. Absolutely soft n delicious fluffy tiramisu pancakes. Traditional warabi parfait was also good. Paired with coffee in cute cups, was lovely to chill n enjoy the view of their beautiful garden. Expensive but worth a visit.

This place must be on your “to do” list in Takayama. Just getting that out the way up top as you scroll past! A converted old traditional house / kimono store now acts as an amazingly atmospheric cafe and, somewhat bizarrely, Italian restaurant. You’ll sit in genuine old tatami rooms with traditional Japanese decor and you’ll be able to look out into the nakaniwa, or “middle garden”, a small courtyard garden in the center of the building. The chill old world atmosphere can’t be beat. Service is great, staff are friendly and accommodating, and the prices aren’t bad at all (which in itself is a minor miracle in this town). Definitely recommended, give it a go.

Lovely family run cafe. Hitomi and her mum made me feel at home from the moment I walked in. Great desserts and tea, all expertly crafted with heartfelt care. Thank you for the hospitality!

This place offers relaxing ambient feel with fantastic desserts. The pancakes take 20 mins but they are one of the fluffiest pancakes I ever had. I highly recommend the premium green tea parfait. I not a green tea guru because I tend to not like matcha. But the blends and layers of the dessert was amazing with a new flavor in every level.

The ice cream was very good, and the setting was nice but I don’t know why when there were only 4 tables of people in the whole restaurant, but had to stick all of us in one small room, while afterwards, we saw that there were 3 other sides that were empty and we could have enjoyed it by the windows next to the garden.

Beautiful typical Takayama house renovated in a tea/cafe house with its inner garden. My favorite hire is the "warabi mochi" served with Anko powder and black sugar sirop. The "parfait" served are big.

Best pancake I’ever had! Took 30mins to prepare but it’s totally worth the wait. Highly recommended!

Really love this place. Get into the restaurant unexpectedly but the first step to get In got a surprised. Environment is awesome with japanese style decoration. Coffee (Ordered viennese coffee) is great but beware the cream to melt. Fuku parfait is the best, combination of flavor and texture blended perfectly, warabi mochi is chewy and the soy soft cream sweetness Is superb. Strongly recommend.
