Very unfriendly to tourists. Icy cold service by the lady boss. Almost wished we got turned away so we didn't waste time & stomach space here. Very very expensive for what we ordered (fermented Vege, 1 small plate of sushi, grilled fish collar, 1 chicken soup, very very salty cabbage-chicken stew, grilled tofu). Can't appreciate the food served at this establishment. Food was very salty & underwhelming. Expensive local beer (¥1400) - found it for less than ¥600 at the convenience store a few mins away. There's a ¥300 cover charge, which we don't mind paying for, but again - ICY COLD, HEARTLESS SERVICE & made to feel unwelcomed

Racist place in the center on a tourist town. Extremely rude staff! Fortunately there is a lot of loud, lively and friendly izakayas with great food and nice atmosphere around!

Such an awesome Izakaya!! The food is impressive and the atmosphere is right for friends gathering. You should try it out even you can’t read the menu coz you can ask for recommendation.

The gem restaurant locate at small corner of central Takayama. We were lucky to get seats on Christmas period. The chef family were really friendly and prepared all dishes which are really match to daily sake. Best service and delicious dishes are the most signatures. We can't wait to get back anymore. We really enjoyed the food here, we had to translate the menu using our phones but the staff were helpful on explaining what things were (we don’t speak Japanese). The staff were lovely and friendly!
