I love Takayama and I love staying here. Amazing little Minshuku with lovely hosts that cater for Gluten Free guests! Amazing food and breakfast every morning and within a short walk of both Takayama town and Huda Folk Village. It's perfectly placed and affordable for striking out to explore. From the beautiful temple next door to the folk village and trails in the mountains or just go explore the town. I do wish the Futon mattresses were a little softer but the facilities are amazing. Fantastic baths, air con and a lovely communal area. Highly recommended.

Stayed here only once in 2009. So my review is sort of dated, but what i remember from back then is that staff were friendly yet spoke limited english. Im not sure if that has changed over the last 10 years. Back then, half of the town that exists now, wasnt even built then. But i had a very enjoyable stay. Food was great. They had a small outside onsen in a wooden tub, but regardless of that, it was great. Definately planning on returning some day in the future (if my budget allows).

Very kind couple (who speak excellent english) hosting us in traditional style. The local style breakfast was very good.

Very polite staff. Had a great night sleep surprisingly very comfortable. The food was great it's a shame I couldn't finish it and the breakfast was also great.

Very friendly and accommodating hosts. The Japanese breakfast was an outstanding representation of local food traditions. Don't make the mistake of not being adventurous and getting the western breakfast. I'm sure it's fine, but the traditional breakfast is great. Highly recommended.

You may love Sosuke and will be surprised the quality of service and the accommodation with the reasonable price! The owner couple is very nice and helpful! The building itself has history, but each room, living space, entrance, toilet, and bath room are all clean! Of course no lift, so make sure you are fit to go up to the rooms on second floor. The location is 10 min away from the station by walk, 20 min away from the central area. No slope, so I think it's easy to walk.

I visited Takayama in april 2014 and stayed 3 days in this traditional hotel, till now I still remember the nice place the nice stuff the best traditional food I ate in Japan, tatami floor, hot spring also I still remember the entrance everything is nice and beautiful, keiko San thank you for your hosting you are so kind aregatoo gozaimasu from me and my wife. 🙏🌷

Wonderful people, amazing food. Stayed here twice already and whenever I return to takayama I plan to stay here again.
