創立は西暦718年。高山市内で一番古い神社です。東山寺院群の中にあります。大雄寺と雲龍寺の間から延びる参道の階段を登るとすぐに鳥居があります。その先長い階段を登り切ると本殿があります。祀られているのは縁結びの神様で菊理媛尊・伊邪那岐命・伊耶那美命です。 夕暮時、ここの参道から見る高山の街と夕陽は、個人的に一押しの場所です。

東山にある神社です。やはりこのあたりは、白山信仰が強いのでしょうか。もともと高山では最古の神社だったらしいですが、現在地に奉遷されたようですね。
