It is an important junction for the bus routes. If you are going from Kamikochi to Takayama or even Matsumoto, you probably have to change buses here. While waiting. You can either check out the supermarket/souvenir shop, or walk around in some nearby roads. Very scenic, especially in autumn, when I had the chance to visit. Toilets, Vending machines, etc are available, hence, it is convenient as well.

Bus terminal has more connections than expected, a nice junction for travelers and adventurers hiking or going to other ski resorts and onsens in the area. It's nice Onsen to visit especially after hiking. You can warm up there and get some food. Recommended. Lost of different kind of bathing.
