This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and makes sure that the stay is as nice as possible. We started with getting an upgrade because there was still a better room available. The room was spacious, basically made of three rooms. It was very clean and had a modern Japanese/western fusion design. We even got a free ticket for a drink at the terrace bar. We could sit on the heated terrace with the feet in a foot bath, surrounded by lit up autumn trees. Beautiful! The highlight is the open air hot spring with the view on the forest. Ideal for relaxing and also a very comfortable temperature. The breakfast was great as well. We got a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. We were asked for allergies/preferences several days before via mail, so they made us a pescetarian meal. They additionally offer a buffet including both Japanese/western food. I highly recommend this place!

Absolutely awful!!! Run away! Booked the room almost $350 then they started asking us lots of probing questions through our booking site. As soon as they found out we had a 2 year old they began to threaten us that they would not prepare the room or allow our son to eat. Then they said if we wanted to stay there we needed to pay another $200! This place is obviously hostile to foreigners and children. Stay away!

Outstanding food, room size is modern and very clean. Kids menu was also very good. Onsen was nice and the small pool was perfect for the kids. Great summer retreat location!

The cottage looks good from the outside, but inside everything is 50 years old, there are only large towels ( one per person), no other sizes at all!! There is no tea, no coffee, no cups, no glasses, no mineral water- NOTHING. In any hotel in Japan you will find pajamas or yukata, but here there is none of that!!! And Yes!! The hot water only comes out for ONE HOUR and then you have to wait an hour and a half for the next “portion” of hot water to come out. We stayed for two nights and on the second day, returning to the cottage in the evening, we discovered that the HEATING was NOT working. It was necessary to call people and turn on the system somewhere on the street!! Briefly speaking!! We do not recommend this worthless hotel to anyone. I wouldn't even recommend it to my enemy!!

A beautiful resort! We hosted an event here for our family and friends. The staff and service are incredible. Food is also delicious and the onsen is one of the most beautiful I’ve experienced. Highly recommend!

The staff made you feel very welcome here. You must order their dinner when you book the hotel. The dinner is excellent. They have an outdoor hotspring that really relaxes your whole body. You need to have your own transport to get here as it is really out of the way. It worth every penny of your money to enjoy a day here.

Absolutely awesome breakfast. Friendly to kids. We booked a Village Cottage nearby. Administered by Ryu Resort. Countryside living. If you are a city person can not tolerate quietness, a little bit of bugs. Then stay away. If not it is an awesome place to get away, rest, enjoy the wilderness, tranquility, breathe taking views and friendly staff. Affordable too. No frills.

It was a wonderful stay. Hot springs, foods, people were all very nice. I especially loved open air hot spring bath tab. I think I’ll come back next autumn with family again.
