Beautiful park & good crowd in Chile.

Was in 1818 the 1st that General O'Higgins declared the Chilean Independence at this place, since that day the arms square is named the Independence square, between its remarkable sculptures include the Mapuche leader "toqui Lautaro" and Spanish Conquistador & founder "Pedro de Valdivia", in the center stands the goddess "Ceres" fountain, symbol of agricultural fertility sorrounded by four beautiful mermaids.

It's a pretty place. Great space, lots of commerce around it. Good place to have lunch. Some said it was bad looking because of the riots some years ago, but it actually is in perfect conditions.

An unremarkable chilean "plaza de armas" square. you will find the usual lack of decent sitting space, shoeshine men, a lot of unhealthy birds, some ocassional drunk person, annoying music and a couple derranged preacher almost any day of the week. have fun if thats your thing.

Really bad part of town! Almost got robbed... chased by some seriously run down junkies... and this was at 8.30 on a Saturday!

This plaza has historically interesting things, the rock where the independence was signed, ask about the story of Lautaro and Pedro de Valdivia.

A lovely place to visit. All kinds of shops, restaurants ajacent. Frequently has music and street performers.

Very lively place, especially when it is sunny. You'll find drinks, ice cream and entertainment being sold here.
