Ile-Alatau National Park  is a national park in Kazakhstan. It was created in 1996 and covers about 200,000 ha. It is situated in the mountains south of Almaty between Gorge Turgen in the east and Chemolgan River in the west. The National Park borders Almaty Nature Reserve, which is located around Pik Talgar. The landscape includes woodlands, alpine meadows, glaciers and lakes, including Big Almaty Lake. Remarkable trees include apricot, maple, and apple. A total of 300 species of birds and animals have been recorded from the Ile-Alatau National Park. The park is home to snow leopards, Central Asian lynx, Tian Shan brown bears, Central Asian stone martens, Siberian ibexes, bearded vultures and golden eagles. The road to there was quite dangerous witj fallen rocks on it and quite steep, even in summer the snow was there, some part of the road even fell down. The lake itself is nice but it was quite muddy there to climb down, its just a dirtroad to the lake. Surrounding mountines were nice.

Approximately an hour out of Almaty. The road flows through suburbia and starts to get bumpy with potholes as you enter the national park. Cost was negotiated at the entrance by a local but other posters have reported 400 kzt. The road is winding and narrow. Traffic really picked up around 11am when minibuses started arriving. Public buses go to a certain point then head back to town. After that you have to work it out yourself or walk...saw plenty of walkers. Very small space for parking above the big Almaty lake.. perhaps 10 cars. Stunning scenery, fresh air and also the chance to dress up like a Kazakh and hold an eagle. You can walk down to the lakes edge. Fairly steep on a simple dirt track. Go early. You'll find the beauty and the silence of this place much more enjoyable with less people.

Fabulous views and a long cable car ride. If only the windows were clear enough to take good pictures..

Beautiful place with a different landscapes within less then an hour of drive from each other. Recommend to visit. You can sleep in a guest house, or can bring your tent. (Proper toilet and shower in the guest house) you can also order a meal there, delicious Kazakh dishes. Very affordable prices . (Note that you need to book the guest house in advance, because it might be busy when you are there)

Beautiful place! Make sure you go early to avoid the crowd. And if you’re late make sure you reach there by 3PM. The cable car tickets are closed by 5PM. You can either hike to the lake or you can take the cable car. There’s plenty of cafes to grab a snack and coffee. It’s very close to Almaty. I believe they have public transport that can drop you. If you don’t have a car, you can hitchhike from here and someone will drop you to Almaty.

В этом 2020году, наверное, все казахстанцы стали исследовать свой родной край. Также и мы посетили данный национальный парк. Очень красиво, чисто! Природа напоминает БАО (Большое Алматинское озеро), но больше и круче))) если так можно выразиться. Дорога из Алматы была комфортной, всего 1.5 часа езды. Бетонная дорога, проезжаете много посёлков, городков небольших. Заехали в город Есик, там приобрели еду, а точнее шашлыки, и хотели устроить себе пикник на озере. А получилось еще более лучше, чем мы планировали. Приехав в нац парк, стоял шлагбаум и охранники. Но они просто проверяли количество людей в машине. Стоимость за человека 500 тг. Достаточно символическая цена. Мне очень понравилось, что есть приличные столики. Они были свободны. Мы так атмосферно покушали, были просто рады тому, какой завораживающий вид и какой вкусный шашлык. Рядом с озером место достаточно чистое, однако, мы все равно забрали 1 пакет мусора. Там есть огромное место для мусора, не понимаю почему люди не могут донести 200 метров до туда?? Природа великолепна! Это нужно видеть своими глазами! Вода такая холодная))) не возможно помочить ноги(( Рекомендую к посещению!
