A real authentic restaurant from the Middle Ages. It is also furnished accordingly. The staff are dressed in medieval costumes and, funnily enough, you are addressed as "My Lord". They are very friendly and helpful when you order. The prices are a bit higher but the food is definitely worth the money. This is definitely an experience you have to try when you are in Tallinn. A clear recommendation from my side.

Bear meat was very good. I liked fish salad too. They have very nice cinnamon beer also, strongly suggested. Waitress was very helpful, tried to explain all dishes in detail. Attitude towards customers was very joyful and friendly. Luckily I was there when they had live traditional songs, listened while having food. Also place is very close to everywhere and in the middle of street. I would like to visit again and try other dishes too next time. Suggested 🙌

I love the style and originality of this place. I didn't enjoy the food though, not because it was badly made, but mostly because I tried to experiment something I have never had before.🤣🤣🤣 Please stick to food you are familiar with as that's enjoyable. I like that the had menus in different languages and how the serf played her role perfectly. The beer wasn't bad for someone who isn't a beer drinker and wanted to try something original. I also like that it's located almost at the center of key tourist sites. If you are a medieval fan you will sure be happy to have the experience.

Interesting medieval restaurant in the heart of The Old Town Tallinn. The decoration, tableware, waiters, building, foods and everything are about medieval. Even sometimes the waiter/waitress speak/behave like in the medieval era, which of course, acting. It’s dark inside since there are no proper lighting (of course!), they try to create everything like in medieval. I’d prefer to sit on the terrace especially during sunny day. Foods are excellent, though its a bit high price (locally).

The ambience and service were good. We only tried drinks. I liked the spicy wine that was basically a cold version of mulled wine. The honey beer was okay. It's worth coming here for some drinks.

This restaurant is cute and nice. It has 3 floors. If you book before, you can have the second floor with live music. You can feel like in the medieval time again. All the staff dress up as in medieval. The toilet also build as medieval. This restaurant is quit expensive but the food is good. If you don't know what to eat, I would like to recommend to come to try one meal here.

I understand that this is a kitschy tourist spot, but so many reviews said it's a must and raved about the food. Knowing all of that, I was a little disappointed overall. The food was good and flavorful, but not the superb some wrote about. Second part is that the price is the food includes the entertainment that the employees put on, however we say outside and though it was cool, they deemed it too cold, and didn't come outside; so we missed out on that experience entirely. So between the underwhelming food and lack in entertainment, I can only give this place 3 stars. Maybe stop here for a draft of locally made beer or a schnapps to warm up, along with some bread and melty cheese, but go elsewhere for a meal.

I love the look and feel of the place. It is like you walk into a different time. Like you time travelled back into medieval age. The dark atmosphere and noise brings nice feel to it. Especially when there were live music which is so great when you eat. The food was also great and the honey beer was so good. The place is a bit too full especially for the amount of waiters. Our waiter when we were asking for invoice just disappeared. We had to wait over an hour just to leave, when the food came surprisingly fast.

Great experience of dining in a medieval tavern. Try to sit on the inside. The interior decorations, music, crockery and even staff uniforms are an amazing treat! Even the toilets follow the theme! The food was fine. Had the hearty soup, wild boar and kids smoked chicken. Tasty but nothing too great. The cinnamon beer was really nice!

*Really* looks like a tourist trap... but is delightful! I'm no expert on the authenticity of the recipes but the food was certainly unusual and delicious, and we really enjoyed the live music that was played by 3 people using medieval instruments throughout the evening. Bonus surprise: the cheesecake was truly unlike any I've ever had before, I loved it.

It's a bit of a tourist trap - fun for an experience but nothing like I expected. It's quite tacky. The staff really go for it though! They stay in character and deliver on excellent service. The stew was OK, the herb ale was pretty awful but it's down to personal tastes. I expected a medieval tavern with open fires, hog roasts and chill pub vibes - feels more like a Disney restaurant.

This is the best restaurant in the Baltic I have experienced so far. True medieval atmosphere well expressed by waitresses, delicious meat and beer, large servings, sophisticated talks by everyone. It was also one of the very few times I felt ashamed not to have cash with for the tip!

I enjoyed my time in Olde Hansa. Starting from arrival, I am charmed by the magical atmosphere. It was like I was time travelled or passed into fantasy land. Its staff appropriately dressed, which aligned with the atmosphere. Their outstanding role play is also another factor that keeps you in mode. I tried Brown bear and dark beer. Both were delicious. Although I am not a fan of different and intense aromas, I enjoyed my dinner. I strongly recommend this place to you.

Great spot in the center of the tourist district for a break on the patio if the weather permits. I just had a beer, so can’t comment on the food, but it is tourist prices, so beware of that! If you’re into the Medieval theme, you’ll love this place as the decor is on point and the servers are even dressed accordingly. Highly recommend!

Nice restaurant, food is a bit pricey but the medieval theme throughout and the clear care that goes into the food makes up for that. All the food on the menu is similar to the food that was eaten during medieval times. we had the salmon and the lamb when we went to visit, both very tasty lamb was extremely tender. The vibrant flavours achieved using very few ingredients is quite impressive. Only negative is that the food was quite expensive. Two people with a starter and dessert to share two drinks and two mains was €90.

Fun Medieval Restaurant! The food was great! We shared the boar, elk, bear sausage and the Juniper sausage. Cinnamon beer, Honey Beer, and Cherry Schnapps. You can stop by the store and do unusual schnapps tasting. Great experience! Do check out the restrooms!

This place is amazing. Yes, it does feel like Disneyland a little bit, but trust me it is actually worth it. It feels a little pricy when looking at the menu, but considering that Olde Hansa is more of an experience than just a place to grab dinner, the prices are pretty reasonable all things considered. The staff are dressed in medieval clothing, the beers are served in ceramic pots, the food is tasty hearty and gamey, and the building and decor is stunningly designed to make you feel as though you are back in the 15th C. So much thought went into this place, from the candles on all three floors to the hilarious toilets! The service can be a little slow, especially if it is busy. We were lucky when we ordered, but be patient if you're a bigger group. We had the lamb and the chicken. Both were great. They also served bear (!), being one of the only places to serve hunted Estonian bear. We didn't try it, but it seemed curious on the menu! 100% will not forget eating here and would recommend this place to all!

Very interesting and unique experience with period design in the building, menu, crockery and glassware, as well as the staff uniforms and also their period acting. Nice touches. It was particularly entertaining being referred to as 'My Lord' by the waitress dressed in medival costume. Fun experience. As for the food it was very interesting and very filling. We tried the Bear, which in all honesty was slightly underwhelming... a little on the dry and tough side, although the sauce was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavours. What really impressed us was the Elk (Game Fillet special). It was very flavourful, super tender and nicely presented. Service was a little on the slow side, but not because the staff are lazy... I think they are just each handling too many tables. Overall, worth a visit.

Yes it is touristy, but that doesn’t make it less fun. I would say this is a must-go place. A simple menu with a selection of (medieval) comfort food that is cooked to perfection. Drinking interesting beers from ceramic pots (go for the cinnamon beer: winner!!) and listening to the medieval flute tunes in the background. Lovely! The staff is dressed fully in theme 🙃 as well as the interior. Tallinn is one of the best well preserved medieval old towns in Europe. Although it is Disney, at the same time they made it feel authentic and fun. Great service. After that you go and eat at all the contemporary (hipster and high end restaurants) that Tallinn has to offer (plenty of those).

Awesome day… me and my husband had made dinner reservations three weeks before our trip to Tallinn. And the vegetarian option was as tasty as it could be. But I must berate about the ambiance it was medieval era to the core❤️🔥 And also their lovely in house vine. Oh my god never tasted such spicy brewed vine ever, it was that delicious that I still remember the taste as I am writing this review after almost 15 days. And the waitress who served was very friend And beautiful 🙈 I must say.. that I had to take a pic with her and she was much obliged to do so. Overall best decision to visit the old town of Tallinn ❤️

I came here without any planning. I have never seen anything like this before. Everything here is from Medieval Time. Even the waiters are wearing Medieval Garments. The plates, the vibe, everything is like you have traveled back in time. The service is outstanding, and extremely friendly. The food is very strange. They recommend a cheese and bread appetizer platter that was excellent! It’s different kind of cheeses melted and infused with herbs, with a piece of bread that also has herbs and nuts. My main dish was Deer. The meat was good in general, but the different sides tastes strange. Some of it a little sweet. It’s a good dish overall, but not excellent. They have live Medieval band playing music too. It’s a nice place to have a new experience, but food-wise, not the greatest.

Although mostly touristic , this place is worth a visit. The atmosphere is unique; candles, music , wooden tables and beers. The staff is really friendly and welcoming and the food was surprisingly tasty . We opted for the mushroom soup (must try) , the veggie bowl and the duck (yes, unfortunately I have a friend who eats meat) and honey beers, of course. The fish salad lacked seasoning and was a bit dry but overall we had a great experience !

The food and everything was really awesome!! I took the deer filet, and it was the best tender meat I ever had in a very long time!!! I'd highly recommend setting inside as you can enjoy the band. The only bad thing, they are not accepting American Express credit card.

I went there twice once I just enjoy mushrooms soup outside for brunch and come back for dinner and I tried the salmon food. The mushrooms is really good. The salmon is good too. I really like the atmosphere and the decorations. The waitress and waiter are really friendly, helpful and quickly. You may wait for the food a little bit long but it's worth and I think we should sympathy .

Wow! What a great experience! A "bucket list" stop for everyone visiting Tallinn. From the building, furniture to the menu and the staff, everything is amazingly authentic themed as a tavern of the Hansa era. All food and drinks are made from traditional/historical recipes with specific spices. Food prepared that way is slightly pricier than "off the shelf production", so expect the stay to not be the cheapest in town. There's still some reasonably priced options available (the salads among others, that are anyway healthier 😉). The dark honey beer and the light cinnamon beer were as tasteful as the greenery dishes (quite big portions, see pictures) and the special coffee (with spices and whipped cream). The staff was really friendly and helpful in both English and German. Service was quite quick (Friday at 12:30). Food and goods can be bought at the shop.

I feel like everything I have to say about this place is already mentioned in the other reviews, but WOW! This is got to be one of the coolest restaurants in Europe, everything is so authentic, including the music, the staff’s language and their uniforms, all down to the menu which is all in line with what used to be eaten in the era the restaurant is set in. The food was great, the cinnamon beer was delicious and the evening was perfect!

Fantastic old style restaurant. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. A bit pricy, but definitely worth it. Can absolutely recommend it if you want to try original Estonian cuisine.

It is easy to shrug this restaurant off as a tourist trap but quite the contrary: the location is excellent, right in the middle of the Old Town in the Town Hall Square. The dishes are not overly hearty but they are robust and savory and are very well presented by a cordial, friendly and professional staff. The interiors are quaint and the candlelight provides a unique atmosphere. It is well worth a stopover while exploring the historic downtown.

Nice medieval theme restaurant in Old town (Pricey for Tallinn and Europe) Very Friendly Staff! Me and friends sat in the second floor. As it wasn't full blown tourist season, some of the dishes weren't available but the staff made sure we had something tasty to have while taking into account the allergies. Do taste their Honey beer. The spiced/herb beer were okay but honey dark beer was amazing

Visited with a small group. The atmosphere is great, the music is nice, the portions and flavours are superb. The roleplaying is cute. Unfortunately we got baited when they said there would be vegan options but anything vegetarian was all made in butter. Remember: the prices are not just for the food. Expect it to cost but understand that it's an experience.

Customer Service was excellent, but I’m starting to see that is standard in Estonia. The decor was awesome. The food was amazing. Even the quirky things they say was a nice touch, ie choose your weapons (napkins) in case you wish to fight. Bit pricy but good for a one-time dinner in town.
