Hellemann Tower and Town Wall Walkway

👍👍 It was used as prison and a weapon tower back in the 14th century. During the visit you'll definitely get a good feel of the place. This tower gives an amazing view of the town hall and is a must visit. Nowadays it houses art gallery and is just a place to visit. The ticket for entry is pretty cheap... It was used as prison and a weapon tower back in the 14th century. During the visit you'll definitely get a good feel of the place. This tower gives an amazing view of the town hall and is a must visit. Nowadays it houses art gallery and is just a place to visit. The ticket for entry is pretty cheap around 4 Euro. I'll highly recommend anyone who do visits Tallinn to visit this tower preferably during sunset hours. That will give you the best view of the city as well as you can enjoy the tower more. You can cover the whole place in 30-45 mins easily in my view.

The four euro entrance fee is definitely worth it. You can climb two towers and explore two sections of the city wall. There are some information boards in the towers that show prominent places with both current and historical images. This makes the change easy to see. But the highlight is always the phenomenal view over the old town and the Domberg in the background.

Excellent place to visit. This tower was made in 13th/14th century and located in old town. It also comes under UNESCO world heritage site. It is on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland

You should see it when you're in Tallinn, even if you don't really have a view of the city. However, we went up the front of the tower and out the back of the tower. The employee at the front was extremely unfriendly and should definitely look for another job, but the employee in the back tower was very friendly, so I would recommend going in at the back entrance. Be careful, very slippery in winter and the entrance to the tower is very narrow! In addition, only cash is accepted!

Well spent 4€ (per person)! Nice views, informative explanation boards and impressive historical construction. All pictures taken inside the towers or from the ramparts. All covered if you're trying to escape the rain.

It is a beautiful medieval defensive wall. As is typical, the city is surrounded by walls. The entrance fee is 4 EUR, but it is a bit expensive considering there are not many things to see.

This one was a nice (and easy) discovering. Just near by Viru Gate, you could access to the wall for easy price of 4 euros. This part of the wall got one of the best views of Tallinn. And normally is not to busy like others parts of the wall.

Hidden gem of Tallinn. Highly recommended as it provides excellent views to the city from different angles. It is not highest one, but the balcony gives you the opportunity to walk, stare and enjoy the city and the tall buildings from different views. You should spend half an hour or more to do this. Avoid visiting when the sun is low on a sunny day (mornings and late afternoons) as your sight might be disrupted.

Climb this 14th-century tower and stroll atop its 200m stretch of Town Wall for fantastic views of Tallinn's medieval defences. The three-storey tower, which stands adjacent Müürivahe street next to Old Town's knit market, dates back to the 14th century and at different times was used as a prison and a weapons store. Nowadays it serves far more peaceful purposes: in addition to being a curiosity history-minded visitors, it houses an art gallery.

The Helleman Tower, right by Viru Gate, is one of many towers lining the city wall. If you can brave the wobbly staircase, you can be rewarded with pretty impressive city views. Along the terrace walk, there are information on some of the buildings you can see.

This is part of the old city walls of Tallinn. You get to visit a couple of towers and walk on the ramparts. The experience and views of the old town are nice, but overall the ticket is quite overpriced for what you get

Nice place to climb up and view the city. It's a 200 meter walkway. There is also a small exhibition of old and new photographs of the same scenery of the city in one of the towers.

I enjoyed learning about the history of the city wall and the views from the top. There is a €4 fee to access the inside of the wall and to go on top. A worthwhile place to spend in Tallinn.

At an affordable price, it's a nice experience to climb the towers and see nice landscapes.

Great views and a breath of history for the price of a coffee cup (4€). Note: CASH ONLY The ticket cashier was very unfriendly, but did his job of changing our money for tickets. Stairs are super steep and require special attention to each step. Definitely NOT accessible to visitors with limited mobility, especially those in wheelchair. There are before/after photos of different areas of Tallinn and some brief explanations of the wall's/towers' history that are interesting to read. Otherwise, you can just admire the views.

Well worth a visit. Not for those witg a disliking for heights. But lovely to walk a bit of the old wall between the towers and see more of the historic Tallin fortifications

This is really the place for photographers.. You get a nice view of city. Go here in the evening when city starts getting lighted.. You get amazing views... Really liked it.. You have to be very careful climbing up to top of tower.

Interesting experience of walking on the walls. The view is nice (but it's not the place to come for this. Note that the tower going up (and than back down) is somewhere in the middle so you find yourselves back and forth and going up and down, down and up through challenging stairs.

Small and short but provides a unique perspective of Tallinn history, o would say it's a mandatory visit on a tourist journey, worthwhile, and cheap entry

Authentic medieval wall. Entrance fee was 3 euros. Guy behind the counter was not very talkative but the music set you back in time. Nice views over the old town, and on the other end there is another tower with pictures comparing present to the past with some descriptions In the end... well, its a piece of wall. But pretty good one. Worth a visit.

Some nice views but that's about it. Music playing in lobby sounds too epic for what can be seen. Not worth €3.

  • 1/5 Jakub T. 2 years ago on Google
Quite expensive 3 euros per person. There are no nice views at the city as there are buildings at each side

  • 4/5 John D. T. 5 years ago on Google
Pretty cool experience to walk along such an old city wall. Easy to picture yourself back in time. Nice views of the town from up there.

  • 4/5 Johannes 4 years ago on Google
Pay a few euros and take a nice climb/walk on top of the old city walls. Very nice view and relaxing ambience. Sit down and have a look at the surroundings. Visit the war room and climb its tower. Very nice little escape from the tourist chaos down there. Well worth the euros spent.
