The stairs of history. Patkuli staircase is a historical staircase in the center of old city of Tallinn, on the northern side of Toompea Hills. This stairway connects the lower town from the Toompea Baltic station side. Patkul staircase begins at Nunne street (Nunne tänava) next near Snell moat (Schnelli tiiki), an artificial moat, surrounding Toompark (Toompargi) at the north side of Toompea hill, and along the ridge rises to Peace Court Street (Rahukohtu tänav) in the area between 3 and 5 buildings is located the Patkul viewing platform. These stairs were built in 1903 and opened on 6th October 1903. There are 157 steps on the staircase and ending up to the gates, which used to open from eight to five, at the beginning of the century, and which were indicated by open hoisted flag, so that the citizens of the city did not climb up unnecessarily when the gates were closed.

It may be slippery for people with knee problems, it may not be easy, but the view is nice and the road to the observation deck is beautiful

Great for cardio and nice view on top. You don't have to walk back the same way but take alternative route via old town.

Climbing these stairs can literally take your breathe away but the view after which is worth it, probably not as much as Kohtuotsa viewpoint but still good enough.

On siinä saanut kiviä retuuttaa! Rinne on myös aika jäyhä pulkkamäki talvella.

Watch out when there is ice as the stairs are very slippery and you could definitely break something. Otherwise it is a good way to reach the viewpoint and enjoy the amazing vistas of Tallinn.

Nice flight of stairs connecting the lower part of the city to the higher where the old fortifications are. Great panorama from the two platforms
