The best part about this hotel is the location. But, the property and facilities and well below par. There is quite a lot about the property that we did not like, but the bed was the worst of all. It was an old dingy mattress that bowed in the center so you rolling there. Also, the fabrics used around the mattress were yellowed and stained. Made you very careful about getting in and out of the bed to not touch the disgusting bedding. The room overall was dingy too. However, the bed was the absolute worst.

Hotel room was outdated and not cozy at all, looked much better in the pictures. It was cold even though the radiator was on max all night. Thought the room would have armchairs or a sofa, but instead there were chairs with an impractically low table. Breakfast ran out of some things and they were never restocked (for example there was no juice of any kind). It was hard to find the hotel since there were no signs to be seen, not even above the main door. This hotel is far from 4 stars. 😟

The biggest advantage of the Rixwell is its location in the Old Town - it is close to everything. The biggest disadvantage is also its location - Old Town is very noisy into the wee hours of the night. Our room had no air conditioning, which meant that the only way to cool it off at night was to open the window to let in the cool air and... Lots of street noise. The hotel is apparently aware of this because there were ear plugs in the bathroom. Luckily it was relatively cool during our May visit, so we kept the windows open during the day and evening while we were away to keep the room cool for our return, then kept them closed at night. Our room was very spacious and clean with a reasonably comfortable bed. Breakfast featured a large eating area, but a rather small selection of food. The staff did a good job in keeping all of the food available. The staff was very nice and helpful and they were able to get us checked into our room early on our arrival day. If I had to book a room in Tallinn again, I'd opt for something cheaper and quieter just outside the old town. The public transit in Tallinn is excellent, so there is really no need to stay in the Old Town unless the location is important to you.

This place is worth it for the breakfast. The restaurant they work with, Farm, is absolutely fantastic. Try everything they have, just don't snub the humble seeming box bread - it is divine. The flair of the place is wonderful. I could imagine that the rooms are renovated at some point in the future - as a business traveller I found them fit for purpose but not overly inviting. The breakfast more then makes up for any deficiency, though.

Simple, descent hotel wonderfully located in the centre of Tallinn old town, the location is amazing. They have a simple breakfast buffet which is good as well. It has everything a traveller needs for a cheap price.

Location of this hotel is undoubtely its biggest advantage. You have many of the city's attractions within walkable distance. We got superior room. It was big and clean. We had a view on Olaf's church. What is shockingly low is the quality of the front desk staff and their service. From the first contact (problems with finding the way to get to the hotel by car due to road works) till almost the last day (we stayed there for 3 days), every encounter left us amazed that such approach to guests is possible in EU in the 21st century. Unhelpful, defensive and treating guests as nuisance rather than source of income and repeat business. As a result, we looked for alternatives to hotel's services such as parking and breakfast. We found options 50% cheaper for both, so we're happy. Just wondering, if it's indeed hotel's way of guaranteeing customers' satisfaction.

Nice and clean budget hotel. Rooms are plain and clean. Breakfast is good enough. The location is fantastic for Old Town Tallinn. Taxi/Uber/Bolt drop off is about 100 yards away. All good.

Affordable hotel with comfortable rooms, in the downtown historical area, with a large selection breakfast. This hotel is as close to the heart of the city as one can be. It is right on the pedestrian zone. It has a few good restaurants connected and breakfast would please most guests. The beds are comfortable, rooms clean, and price is very reasonable. I would certainly return.

Amazing location and its connected to a cafe and restaurant- both are beautiful and delicious. Breakfast is held in The Farm restaurant and is fairly decent. However, the rooms themselves are incredibly tired and the beds are extraordinarily uncomfortable. The staff are so-so. One staff member didn’t want to wait for the next elevator to take a cart of dishes down during breakfast and asked what floor we were on. We said 3rd and she told us to take the stairs (I had a leg injury and couldn’t). She repeated it to us and yelled when we entered the elevator and pushed “3” to go up to our room. The location itself is amazing, though, so I’m torn to go back or not as Tallinn was an amazing place to visit

Friendly, clean, comfortable, perfect location. I stayed at 4 similarly priced hotels during my trip to the baltics and this was by far my favorite! Highly recommend 😊

The hotel is very well located in The Old Town and it's just under 15 min from the airpot. Very clean and staff are very friendly and efficient, also very close to all Tallinn main attractions, also there are lots of amenities just around the corner. The hotel is very clean but a bit dated. The breakfast is OK and worth the price if bought in advance with your booking.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a Rixwell hotel in Tallinn, and it was a delightful experience overall. The location is superb, nestled in the heart of the historic center and just minutes away from the main square. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and the room was spacious and impeccably clean, offering a beautiful view from the window. The buffet breakfast was tasty. A highly recommended stay for those seeking comfort and convenience in the enchanting city of Tallinn.

Paid 117 eur for 3 nights, honestly great price having in mind the location. Spa is 50eur for 2h, which I didn't do but not horrible having in mind the prices of other spas. The room floor wasn't the cleanest, dirty old carpet, one lightbulb didn't work but besides that was great.

Amazing hotel in centre of Tallinn Old Town! Would stay here again. Sauna in the room was a bonus.

Location was nice but: beds were awful, hard not the nice way and you could feel the strings of the mattres. Pillows were flat and very used. It smells like toilet in the hallways. Breakfast taste good but the service was horrible

Basic clean comfortable hotel within 200 m from town hall square. Second time here. Will come back again. Review edit: it was truly most horrible breakfast I have ever had in hotels. No choice no availability and what's there is inedible. Do not ad breakfast to your room.

This was really nice specially some of the staff were really helpful and friendly. The rooms could have been better but they were ok. Just perfect location. No view at all from window.

This is such a peaceful hotel with a great breakfast menu that wasn't included in the room price. It is a five minute walk to Old Town from the hotel. My room was spacious and quiet. I'd stay there again.

Pretty basic hotel in a great location. The room was quite small, so was the bed (I had a double bed but it was a bit small). On the other hand they are paired with the Farm restaurant, which is above the hotel standard:)

I don't have much experience with hotels, but i expected more from the rooms of a 3-star hotel and the 40€ sauna access seems very pricy. Everything else was perfect. Nothing wrong with the service, location was great and I even enjoyed the breakfest.

All of the staff was extremely friendly. The rooms were clean and nice. Being in Tallinn, there was no AC, but we staying during unusually warm weather and it was still comfortable enough to sleep. The location was great and we didn't notice enough street noise to keep us up. We actually stayed two separate nights, one on the thirst floor and one on the fifth and both rooms were good and quiet enough. We had a sauna, but didn't try it out so I can't comment on the quality of it. In our fifth floor room, the shower flooded the bathroom a little, but it didn't get out into the room and dried during the day so it wasn't a major inconvenience. No view to speak of from either room, but it is a very short walk to a very active and attractive area of Old Town. Would highly recommend!

Double bed room actually had twin beds. Shower didn't have shampoo, but hand soap for some reason. The rooms are somewhat noisy. Nice, but very basic hotel. Great location, though. Wouldn't recommend except for a quick visit. Did not exactly appreciate the corridor's background music starting to blast Scorpion's "Still loving you" at 8 am on a Sunday morning.

The hotel is central to the old town and from the outside looks cool and ultra modern. I think that is where it ends. I arrived on Monday and despite leaving the please clean my room card on the door for a number of days. My room was never cleaned. What they did do one day was to pull the covers back over the bed. Left a pillow on the floor and never even pulled the now wrinkled and untucked sheets back into place let alone replace them. I was in a room on 3rd floor that had the give away there was a problem when the door opened out into the corridor instead of in. The room was roughly the size of the box the bed came in. No wardrobe, instead coat hangers on the wall. The room served its purpose as somewhere to sleep as i was in the city for a conference for the week and only wanted somewhere to leave my bags and sleep at night. The room was very expensive for what it was, with rooms in Radisson at a similar rate and AirBnB for cheaper with better conditions and more space. The second worse hotel experience i have ever had by far. They have some cheek to charge the prices they do.

Great hotel at a great location - right in the old town and close to the historical Tallinn wall! Everything is a walking distance from here if you wish to explore old city center or walk to the beach and pier. Comfy rooms, great for weekend getaway trips.

We paid double price for a room with sauna. As result sauna did not work properly, it shut down all electricity at the room every 30 minutes, so we could mot even try it. The “best” thing was the fact that it was not the first time and hotel stuff knew that. It means they lie to you when promise a sauna. Disappointed.

Bad hotel in every way possible. Bad rooms, the courtins are useless, you get a lot pf brightness inside the room. Very noise, rude staff, dirty and old. I wouldn't stay again or recommend, stay away from this place. Worst experience ever

The hotel location is great. It is very close to old town and about 25 min way from Port of Tallinn. The room was clean, the price was moderate and the staff were comunicate in English. It was only lack of the electric kettle in the room, but generally, it was a nice stay. 😊

Bargain price of less than £20 a night, walked past it twice because I couldn't believe that was my hotel, it looked too fancy! Be aware that the name on the hotel is different from the one on the booking. Perfect location, right at Viru Gate between the old town and the modern shopping malls etc, close to everything, just round the corner from the tram stop to the airport. Check-in was quick and easy, room was warm (you can control it yourself), lots of plug sockets, comfy bed, modern bathroom, minibar on the large side and strangely made no noise, didn't hear any outside noise either, lovely quiet stay. Pity the view out the window is of a brick wall but it means privacy isn't an issue so you can have your curtains open all the time, there's also a Do Not Disturb sign so you can be left in peace (if you need more toilet rolls you can restock from the bathroom opposite the breakfast room on the ground floor!). I was able to leave my luggage for free on the last day in a secure room behind reception, no issues. Really good stay, didn't try the breakfast but maybe will next time, I'll definitely be back! Highly recommended.

I was on the fence about four or five stars, but there was nothing wrong with this hotel. We reserved a room with a private sauna and I would highly recommend going with that option. It was very easy to figure out with instructions (in several langauges) explaining the two stop process. The room doesn’t have “charm”, but we are usually only looking for a place to crash after a day of exploring. It did have a mini fridge though, and that’s always a big plus! The breakfast was good enough and saved us from searching around old town for some warm food. It’s in a great location inside the main gates of old town, so a taxi can drop you off just a two minute walk from the hotel. 15 minute taxi ride from either the ferry terminal or the airport.

Low noise insulation in rooms. Breakfast become worse. Location perfect. Price is what you pay is what you get. Staff very polite and nice

Basic setup with a room and bathroom, did not even have a kettle for hot water, no tea or coffee sachets. Wifi connection was bad, kept dropping in the room. Don't expect a nice view from the room either. Positives are that it's located in the city center, so everything is accessable by foot. It also has a parking spot. PS: it's difficult to locate the hotel by car using Google maps. It leads you to a no entry zone. Overall, I think it's below average for a 3 star hotel.

Excellent location! Great views from my room on the 5th floor! More space than I needed - the superior room was a size of an apartment with separate bedroom and lounge. Tea/coffee facilities in the room and a huge bubble bath was an unexpected luxury! Great buffet breakfast and lovely staff! Thank you for making my day! I’ll be back as soon as possible!

Lady at reception was a dear. Room with sauna was great. Not cheap but right in the center. Noisy floor, thin interconnecting walls.

  • 3/5 Steffen R. 1 year ago on Google
Top location in the old town centre of Tallinn... Unfortunately, this location also means noise (party music, passers-by and idling taxis) at all hours, especially during weekends - so keep your window closed at night. Additionally, having no means to block incoming light from the brightly lit courtyard (just a light distributing, non-see through white curtain), your room will not be dark even at night if you get one on the Northern side of the building. Emergency staircase doors propped open quite often, so in case of fire staircase will be filled with smoke and NOT a safe escape route.

With the exception of the ground floor, the hotel is quite old, both in style and furnitures. Rooms are decent and the price is good. Breakfast is good enough. The location is great, inside the city center. For the price is a good option, I might come back here for my next trip.

We last stayed here five years ago. Had a good feeling about the place then. Now it seemed that it wasn't as well taken care of, dirty carpets and the furniture in the hotel room was breaking to pieces. Worth mentioning that we had booked a superior room but there was nothing superior about it, except for the square metres, it was a decent sized room. The hotel seemed old, worn down, and smelled of dirty cleaning supplies. The shower drain was clogged. The reception personal did not understand English very well so they weren't so interested to help out. I'm usually not so picky. I think if the staff is willing to help out and listen to the customer even one bit, the stay in even a only half decent place could turn out to be a nice experience. Worth mentioning that this time around it was much cheaper than last time. Budget cuts? Probably has something to do with how we experienced our stay...

In the old town, but verry noisy. All the bars, open after 2 o'clock, destroy the comfort. The location is not well marked. You cannot reach it with a car, except you pass the walking street. Yes, there is a parking, but with 10 places only...

We came to Tallinn for a long weekend, and we were quite disappointed with the hotel. I don’t know the standards in Estonia, but to me this is definitely not a 4-star hotel. The first thing was already when we arrived and went to our room, which wasn’t done – there were still piles of dirty bedsheets and towels. And apparently this wasn’t the first time this happened as I figured out from the chat of the receptionists. Of course, we were given a different room, which was a good thing in the end, as the original one had no view and there was a terrible smell. So the new room was OK, it was clean, the temperature was fine, but we didn’t appreciate the carpet in the room. Also, providing 1 small bottle of shampoo and 1 of shower gel was a joke. We were two people staying there 3 nights and it was enough for one time. Of course, you can always ask for more at the reception if necessary, but it would be much wiser to just put there big bottles like at other places – it would also be much more eco-friendly. And you can hear everything in those rooms. The first night, there was a party in some other room, so of course, we couldn’t sleep. But even afterwards, you just hear everything that’s happening in the corridor and with people coming back in the middle of the night, it’s not great. So if you are a light sleeper, bring your earplugs with you. The breakfast was OK, nothing extraordinary, but you had the basics of everything, and it’s a nice, modern and clean area. And the coffee (cappuccino) and mini-croissants were really good. So overall, I am giving it 3 stars – although the location is amazing and it's easy to get there, after discovering Tallinn, we know now that everything is so close and there is plenty of other hotels. So we wouldn’t stay in this hotel again.

Great staff. Very nice breakfast. Excellent parking in front of hotel for a modest fee. Do not trust Google Maps to go there. Park car outside Old Town and take a walk. The friendly staff at the Reception will provide you with a map and driving instructions.

The hotel was impossible to find, no parking spaces, the beds were hard as rocks and there was no air conditioning so it was miserable to sleep. I hated my stay.

A great hotel next to the main street of Old Town. The location is close to pretty much every place in Old Town. Great breakfast and rooms were good. Would recommend this place to everyone who wants to visit the old town.
