👍👍 We found this memorial as we were on a bike ride from the cruise ship port to the TV tower. This memorial is very well done and really made us think about the impact of communism on Estonia. So heartbreaking to realize that the victims ranged from young teens to octogenarians. I pray that almight... We found this memorial as we were on a bike ride from the cruise ship port to the TV tower. This memorial is very well done and really made us think about the impact of communism on Estonia. So heartbreaking to realize that the victims ranged from young teens to octogenarians. I pray that almighty God hold them all close in his loving embrace. May we never let such atrocities happen again, even as the Russians commit war crimes in Ukraine . . .

A very cool memorial about the victims of the Communist regime from 1945 untill 20 August 1991 when Estonia regained independence. You can enjoy amazing sunsets over the skyline of Tallinn. Unfortunately the old concrete structure is ruined but the new one is really gorgeous.

You need to stop and take a deep breath at this place. The dehumanization and suppression the Estonian people suffered during Soviet times is shocking and deserves a moment of silence. I could feel my emotions spiraling, my mind jumping from one thought to the next. With this being said, it is a shame that all soviet memorials are left exposed to the elements to crumble and be forgotten. One should never try to forget about history by leaving things to be taken back by nature, but rather preserve no matter the hurt it that might cause should it be looked at. If you forget where you come from, you might get lost when trying to move forward and history is bound to be repeated. Beautiful piece of history that needs to be preserved.

The Communism Victims' Memorial in Tallinn, Estonia, is a powerful testament to the strength of human spirit and resilience in the face of severe oppression. Spanning a tragic period of history, this memorial honors those who suffered under communist rule, conveying their stories through immersive exhibits and poignant displays. It creates an intimate dialogue between the past and the present, invoking deep reflections about liberty, humanity, and the cost of freedom. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a student of political sciences, or a curious traveler, the Memorial offers an invaluable glimpse into a crucial chapter of Estonian history. Its quiet, contemplative atmosphere provides a serene space for visitors to reflect on the sacrifices made by countless individuals in their pursuit of freedom. Therefore, I strongly recommend visiting the Communism Victims' Memorial in Tallinn. Take your time to absorb the stories, respect the silence, and experience the tranquility of the site. It's not just about remembering the past, but also about understanding how it has shaped our present and future. Remember to embrace the quietude and solemnity, allowing the memorial to resonate with you on a personal level.

One of my favorite places in Tallinn and in all of Europe, I absolutely love the view and atmosphere. It's a shame, that the old soviet memorial is falling apart. It should be kept in better shape, even if it shows parts of history Estonia is not so proud of. It still looks magnificient and there is no better place to chill, have a drink and experience the beauty of Tallinn.

Impressive. The walk through the doors of the memorial really creates the feeling of a long tunnel, hard to get out from it. It's a 30mins visit, with green areas and enough place to sit and remember history.

Visiting here, and learning some of the stories of the people and the history was an incredibly moving experience. Just a short and inexpensive taxi ride from the centre of Tallinn, this place memorializes the things done to the People of Estonia by the Russian communist regime. Everyone knows about the Nazis and what they did to the Jews, but what happened here goes unnoticed and unreported. Thousands of people sent away to their death and never heard from again. We should all learn from history and make sure some of the worst of our past is never repeated

Very well worth a visit. A chilling reminder of a cruel communist regime, should be banished for good. The memorial is a lovely tribute to those long suffering people living in a horrible situation.

One of the most beautiful memorials in the world, it's located on the sea coast and is dedicated to all people of Estonia who lost their lives during the occupying regime of the Soviet Union. My grandfather was taken to Magadan which is in the end of Russian Siberia, unbelievable how people survived the journey and some years of prison life before dying in camps in inhuman conditions.

Beautiful sights and various different monuments. Looks very different during day and night. It did not touch me on a personal level, although I have enjoyed being there. This "park area" looks interesting and is a very calm place to pass some time as there are not many people typically.

This is a very fascinating memorial to visit. It is less visibly stunning or artistically interesting than most other Soviet War memorials, but what really sets it aside from the rest, is how it has been surrounded by Estonian memorials, primarily dedicated to the acts of the Soviet Union against the people of Estonia, but also a memorial to the Axis soldiers (German and Estonian - and primarily Waffen SS), who died for, and in, the country. It is an odd place, where the Soviet memorial has been allowed to be defaced and dilapidated, but where the new sites are kept neat and clean. If you only have two days in Estonia, it might not be worth going to. But if you have a plan to see the history museum, film museum and/or Soviet statue park located nearby, then I would recommend you to go see the memorial as well.

Sad and beautiful, dark corridor with endless names of victims carved in a hill leading to a blossoming apple garden. Heartbreaking reminder of the oppressive and soulless nature of totalitarian regimes.

Interesting landmark that brings a somewhat melancholic feeling despite being a massive, heroic-like monument. Perhaps because it is what's left over from the Soviet era when big, impressive monuments were built without anyone to take care of them and they just withered as time goes by. Nonetheless a peaceful, beautiful area that's really worth visiting.

(Translated by Google) An interesting historical building. Now it may be interesting to get acquainted with the version of events from the side of Estonia. As well as a wonderful view of the bay and the city. On the other hand, I would like to note that this monument does not make any depressing impression at all. On the contrary, clean, neat and encouraging to learn more about the events to which it is dedicated, from different angles and from different sources (Original)

Been there just because this location was featured in Tenet movie. You cannot enter all parts of it because of the "collapsible" status
