A very interesting destination less than an hour's drive from Tallinn. You should familiarize yourself with the interesting history of the place in advance. At least I myself never found any brochure or anything else that would have told about the history. The water of the lake is incredibly clear and you can easily get to know it by renting a boat or a standup paddleboard. The place is also a diver's paradise. The price level is affordable, so it is well suited as a low-budget travel destination for the whole family. The service was good and the employees in the area were friendly and cheerful. Several of them were at work on the first day and it caused some small problems and they were solved just fine in the end. If I could give a little criticism about the lack of signs. There were no opening hours at the gate and there was a bit of conflicting information on the internet.

Very beautiful place! In my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in Estonia. You can climb up the mountain to see a gorgeous view of the surroundings. You can also swim in the clear lake, or you can also dive into underwater prison (which I haven't tried yet). I recommend this place to everyone, especially for photographers, because there's so much to see!

Pretty impressive as experience! I liked the audio guided tour. One of the places that is hard to believe it was in use till recently (2013). It's pretty cool to be able to visit most of the buildings and see how the convicted used to live in there! I'd recommend to visit the place before someone decides to close it...

Quite unique place with different attractions like SUP boards. There are changing rooms, toilets, small cafe and enough parking lots. However be ready there are no shadow to hide from the sun. The entrance is 5eur if you without car. You can pay by Apple Pay or a card.

Well it’s interesting to see and might be pretty cool for diving. But apart from that for me it wasn’t really worth driving there as you don’t really get much to see for the entry fee and the fuel costs you have. Was expecting a greater lost place feeling, so know that I know, I wouldn’t have made the way out there.

Niin kaunis ja erikoinen paikka. Kävimme turistikauden ulkopuolella, joten oli ihanan vähän muita ihmisiä. Tallinnan keskustasta pääsi sujuvasti paikallisbussilla (1,5h matka-aika) melkein portin eteen.

Visited this place on the way to Pärnu. The ticket is €5 and can be purchased at the gate. Ample parking is available. There is an adventure centre where you can do kayaking, paddle boarding, disc golf etc. There’s also a cafe serving food and drinks.

Tullessa aika kuoppaiset tiet parkkipaikalle.

Nice place to swim and explore around. Not far from Tallinn, it's not that expensive to visit. There's toilets, bar, remember there being inflatable course on water, I believe you can rent kayak. I visited in summer.

This is a fascinating place. Now privately owned, this former prison/quarry is now a brilliant venue for rather odd days out. We visited in November, so bought a ticket online and then called the number on the gate when we arrived. They then open the gate remotely. In the summer the gate has staff on it who will check tickets etc. There’s now about 20/25 motorhome spaces that can be rented here in the season with electric hookup, water, toilets and other services. €25 per night in 2023. The quarry buildings are submerged in the crystal clear water and there’s a “beach” made from what has eroded from the huge waste heap that towers over the site, with it’s steep, eroded gullies. The prison is next door and needs a separate ticket. It’s the kind of place that wouldn’t exist in many other countries, but it’s a great place to go and experience.

One of the coolest places in Estonia. Definitely recommend doing the hike and swimming in the quarry. The water is cold but clean and looks amazing.

Beautiful place to hang out in an interesting settings. It is a blend of nature and history, modern and old times, relax and mystery. There are a bar and rental place for watersport equipment. Ticket costs 5eur a pop in 2022.

Interesting place. Worth to visit if you are traveling by. It is a very nice view if you will climb the hill (not very easy, but worth it). Buy the tickets online, it is more convinient.

Arrive early as this is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike! The entrance fee is 5 euro and for that you get a lot in return! You can hike upon the old quarry and enjoy the breathtaking views or soak some sunshine while exploring the submerged prison! There is also a cafe which serves coffee, ice-cream and beers at reasonable prices!

Beautiful tranquility with crystal clear water, picturesque views of lime stone cliffs and lime stone clears water with lots of fishes too , Next to quarry is the old prison a next must see or visit with a tour guide. Estonia really surprised me with such beauty.
