Its a very nice temple inside the Bahu fort. A must visit temple if you are going to Jammu. This temple is of Supreme Godess Mahakaali also called as Bawe Wali Mata. The temple is situated inside the Bahu fort constructed by Raja Bhau. And photography is restricted inside the temple. You have to submit the mobile phone, cameras and shoes in the counter outside the temple. Besides Kaali maa, there are Ganesh Ji and Hanuman Ji idols also. The idol of Kaali maa is black stone covered with a silver top. Timing for the temple is from 6.00AM to 8.00PM. And there is some closing time from 1.00PM to 2.00PM also. The temple atmosphere is very calm and refreshing. Jammu trip is incomplete without this temple. There are lot of small shops which sells Prasad amd refreshments for the devotees. You can get some fancy items and gift items like marble made Shiv Lingas and other idols in the shops. You can get direct bus from Jammu / Vikram Chowk to the temple. Beware of monkeys arround there and don't try to feed them. Also, be careful while using mobile phones or something outside as there are lot of monkeys. Jai Mata Di..!

Bawe wali mata temple is the pious place in Jammu. It is built within the premises on Bahu Fort and is considered as the most sacred and mighty shrines of Jammu city. The shrine has a black coloured Idol of the Goddess Mahakali. Number of devotees visits the temple to seek the blessing of the Kali mata and to soak the spiritual auora of the region. Bawe wali mata is the presiding Goddess of Jammu. People of Jammu have a strong belief that Bawe wali mata is always protecting Jammu city from external threats and dangers. There are many stories regarding this belief. It is believed that when Jammu city came under air attack during 1965 and 1971 by Pakistan Air Force no harm was done to the city because pilots were not able to see anything but huge empty ground and a young little girl holding an earthen lit lamp. Some facts: 1.The temple was built during 8th century in 1822. 2: The Temple was constructed by Raja Bahulochan over 3,000 years ago. 3: Mahakali temple dates back to 3400 BC, and is one of the oldest temples in India together with Mahamaya Temple in Bahu Rakh. 4: The black stone symbolizes goddess Mahakali and is said to have been got from Ayodhya by the kings belonging to the solar dynasty, Raja Bahu Lochan and Raja Jambu 5: Every Saturday,Sunday and Tuesday, a huge number of pilgrims come to this temple. 6: The temple was renovated in 19th century by the Dogra rulers. 7: People whose wishes are fulfilled do bhandara(Serve free food) to devotees. Jai mata rani di!! 🙏🙏🙏

The Mahakali temple famous as Bawe Wali Mata Temple has been built on a elevated platform and houses a black stone coloured idol of the Goddess Mahakali. Kali Mata Mandir is built within the premises of Bahu Fort, which overlooks the mighty Tawi River. The surrounding forest area has been converted into a beautiful park known as the “Bagh-e-Bahu”. Influenced by the Mughal gardens, the park provides a fantastic view of Jammu city. A newly constructed aquarium is also an added tourist attraction. The fort was built by Raja Bahulochan around 3000 years ago. The temple is considered to be second only to the Mata Vaishnodevi temple. A number of devotees make a beeline to Jammu each year to soak in the spiritual aura of the region. Built using white marble on a raised platform about 3.9 feet high, this temple has an idol of goddess Maha Kali in black stone. This is a small temple from within so only a few devotees can enter at time. Important information- 👇 A must visit site Mahakali temple in Bahu fort. This is the supreme Goddess of Jammu region Mahakali also called Bawe wali Mata located near Gurkha Nagar within the premises of Bahu fort, the mighty fort originally constructed by Raja Bahu lochan. Jammu trip is incomplete without the attendance here. Ton reach here while comimg from Pathankot side, right turn has to be taken just before crossing the Tawi River and follow the easily accessible signboards . The mobiles, cameras and leather belongings are not allowed here. The mobiles can be placed at any shop near the temple from where the devotees can purchase Burfi or Halwa prasaad. @@

I always feel calm and happy when I visit this place, it's relaxing and you can pray happily here without worrying about anything. Electronic gadgets or leather isn't allowed here. There's a counter where you need to submit your phone, iPad, leather wallet and shoes, it's totally safe. You can enjoy in the park, there are small stalls for prasad and flowers. There are rides for kids and washroom facility as well. Water cooler is also there. There's no animal sacrifices done at that place. Instead you get worship the goats and people give them prasad, food and some even give them small anklets made of gold or silver. I love visiting this place. Jai Mata Di

Jai mata de. Maa ka apaar pyaar sab par bane rahe. Today visited the sacred place in jammu. Somethings everyone should note. 1. If you want to avoid huge crowds then don’t visit on Tuesday & Sunday. 2. There is not ample parking available though authorities trying to get new places. 3. Avoid taking cell phones as you to leave mobiles at shoe place or at any shop or in your car.

I understand the security concerns but this extremely historic place has been totally made run down. The temple of the venerable Devi is however very well preserved. With a little bit of a professional approach, this place can become a clean, safe, tourist draw. They don't allow anyone to climb the ramparts, or even approach the walls of the fort, which offer the most sweeping views of the floodplains of the Tawi river, the city beyond it, and the distant mountains.

Archaeological site and great maintenance of site, no changes in the building... As it's temple, so there r some issue like business type things done by administration there like if u have to organise langar there on any day, u can't give directly raw food, but u have to give particular amount of money and they will do by their own. Recently they started new things which is not an issue in particular but it was questionable on the rational behind it even though before that things was happening even without it.. like no shorts allowed, etc. (don't want to get into details)... On tourism wise, there is need to maintain new things introduced there like fountains, tiles on path, and especially frisking need to be little bit strict .. security there don't even check anything they just simply ask the person do u have mobile in ur pocket, even though if someone have will anyone tell them ... and no machine of checking if anything danger items someone taking with him/her...

The temple is dedicated to Maa Kali and is situated at the banks of the tawi river inside Bahu fort. There is ample parking space available but during navratri there can be a challenge of parking availability. The place has a historical significance and the local people believe in maa kali is very deep. There is a huge market and Prasad shops are available on the way to the holy temple. People should be aware of belonging especially the eatables as lots of monkeys can be found.

The place for worship at this site is truly serene, offering a tranquil environment for spiritual reflection. As one of the oldest forts in Jammu, it carries a rich historical significance that adds a layer of cultural depth to the visit. What sets this location apart is the thoughtful inclusion of swings in Appu Ghar, creating a unique blend of religious and recreational experiences. The presence of swings adds an unexpected element of joy, making it an ideal destination for families. Children and adults alike can enjoy moments of lightheartedness amidst the historical grandeur.

Bawe Temple in Jammu is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. This ancient temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and is located on the banks of the Tawi River, surrounded by beautiful hills and lush greenery. The temple is believed to have been built in the 8th century AD and is considered one of the oldest temples in Jammu. The architecture of the temple is truly remarkable, with intricate carvings and beautiful sculptures adorning the walls and ceilings. The main deity of the temple, Goddess Kali, is worshipped with great devotion by locals and tourists alike. The temple also houses several other idols, including Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Hanuman. One of the most unique features of the Bawe Temple is its location. Situated on a hilltop, visitors have to climb a series of stairs to reach the temple. However, the climb is well worth it as the panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the Tawi River are simply breathtaking. Overall, Bawe Temple is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The temple's stunning architecture, beautiful surroundings, and spiritual significance make it a truly unforgettable experience.

The Bahu Fort is a historic fort in the city of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir. Constructed on the banks on Tawi River, the ancient fort is believed to have been constructed by Bahu Lochan - brother of the traditional founder of Jammu, Jambu Lochan. It is believed that the first renovation of this fort was undertaken during Dogra Rule in 18th century.[1] The fort is a religious place, and within its precincts has a temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. The temple is known locally as the "Bawe Wali Mata temple".
