秩父神社と通りを挟んですぐ隣にある秩父祭り会館。せっかくなので寄ってみた。秩父は祭りが盛んな地域というのは初めて知った。入口入ってすぐに展示されている神輿は迫力あり、装飾も華やか。壁全体に祭り動画が映され実際の祭りの様子も感じれる。結構昔に作られたであろう動画は、ちょっと昭和感漂い懐かしさも覚える。隣室にある３Dシアターでもうひと動画。2階に上がっても各場所で動画が流れており、全部を見てたら結構な時間になるかもしれない。入館料500円の割に広さはあまりなく、展示物のやや少な目か。その分動画でってことなんですかね。秩父観光で時間が余ったら寄っても良いかもしれない。

秩父といえば、秩父夜祭。ということでお勧めです。駐車場はありますが、台数は少ないです。秩父駅からは徒歩5分以内です。中には本物の山車が展示されていますが、他と異なり展示専用のものらしいです。祭り当日の映像や、秩父夜祭以外の地域の祭りを紹介した映像を見ることができます。秩父では何と300もの祭りがあり、年中どこかで祭りがあるらしいです。ちなみに私は5月2日に訪問しましたが、同日宝登山神社で奥宮大祭をやっておりました。2階では山車の構造や祭りの風習等についての展示があります。見学の所要時間は、ゆっくり見ても1時間もあれば大丈夫です。この施設の道路向かいには、秩父三社の一つである秩父神社があります。
