Aka Poppo Town. Outdoor park-like train museum with a few amusement park rides for small children. You can book to take a scenic ride on a tourist train from the park's station. They also have a mini steam locomotive. The beloved "degochi" D51 pulls into the connected public train station, in the car park of Poppo Town.

It’s a bit worn but that’s exactly the point you should visit to bring you back to history and gives you a full sense of nostalgia

Good for both kids and adults who love trains. Many classical train cars are displayed and you can actually go inside and take a look. There are many small train related attractions in the entrance area and kids love them. They cost 200~300yen. There are limited offer of food and drink options.

This is actually a very good railway museum. It shows the detail of usui pass. Also this museum has tons of historical locomotive on display if you like JR trains. This is a place you must visit.

This is great fun for the family. There are many trains to look at and ride. There is sometimes a special steam train from Takasaki. There is also a small stream train running inside the park. There is another train that goes up the old tracks to an Onsen. Also nice for hiking. Easily reachable from Tokyo for a day trip.

Lots of old trains to climb inside. A miniature steam engine to ride on, and lots of space for the kids to run around! Well worth a 2 hour visit.
