Visited the rice paddy art in the end of September. The peak season for the lotus flowers and art is the end of July, but the trip to see the rice art is more than worth it. The scale of it is an impressive site in person. Photos do not do this place justice. The lotus museum/information center below the tower was quite interesting as well! There is lots to do in this area so I recommend making a day trip and visiting the castle and other parks nearby!

Went yesterday (7/9) and the lotus were full-bloomed. But you should get there in the morning when there will be more bloomed petals, apparently they tend to close the petals after noon.

The best time to watch lotuses is early July at 6-8 am. Lotus blooms only until 10 am! After 10 am the lotus is closed. The lotus blooms for only 4 days, on the first morning it opens halfway, on the second morning completely, on the third it begins to crumble, on the fourth it crumbles.

It's a very interesting place with a lot of interesting information about the history of the lotus they use, why and how it ties into wider things in the local area. The observation tower gives great views and if the weather's favourable, you may even see Mount Fuji and other well-known places.

I missed the lotus season but I was still able to see a few kinds of lotus flowers there. I enjoyed strolling and taking pictures there. There’s a musical background in the park so it was relaxing just to sit and appreciate nature. Entry to the park is free but if you want to view the park and the rice field art from the tower, you need to pay 400 yen. See more photos on my Instagram (@sherylgim).

Great pleace. I visited there at 1.00 PM. I saw a lot of lotuses bloom(both white and pink) but I am surprised seeing that the restaurant there was closing at around 1.30 PM.(🥵). It was very hot there, so having an umbrella is suggested while roaming around lotus park. We went to the tower. Cost was 400 yen/person. The rice paddy art 2021 was beyond amazing. It symbolizes the great wave art and kabuki (Japanese dance drama). There are free shuttle bus from gyoda station to spot. The last shuttle bus from kodai hasu no sato is at 2.35 PM. After 2.35 PM there is paid bus for 150 yen. The park and the tower is totally accessible. I saw an old lady with wheel chair accessing the whole campus and the tower. A must visit place if you are staying or travelling at Japan.

Rice field art 2023 theme is “Tonde Saitama” From Kodaihasu tower, you can enjoy the view of green rice fields and blue sky. They are wonderful combinations.

Rice field art is becoming established as a new tradition that colors the rice fields in Gyoda, the rice-producing region. Express pictures and letters on paddy fields using colorful rice plants. Boasting a size of about 2.8 hectares, it was certified as the “World’s Largest Rice Field Art” by the Guinness World Records in 2015. This rice paddy art will be planted in mid-June and harvested in mid-October. The best time to see it is from mid-July to mid-October, from the adjacent Ancient Lotus Hall Observatory. When you visit Gyoda, please stop by and enjoy the magnificent scale of art.

Nice place, several ponds with 120,000 big lotuses which blossom from June to August. There are pedestrian bridges on the ponds. Vending machines with drinks an ice cream, also they sell some snacks. There is a 50 meter high observation tower. But otherwise not so many attractive places nearby.

We went after the end of the lotus season to see the paddy field art, which was amazing! A visit in June would probably have been perfect for the amazing array of loti. Next year!

The view is amazing but as a closed tower the reflection in the glass prevents you from getting good pics.

The rice field mosaic was amazing! It’s worth visiting. Lotus was out of season when I visited here but the park is nice place to take a walk. The fee of the tower is 400yen and free for the park.

👍👍 After I parked my car at Gyoda City Hall, I could walk around the city slowly in about 20 minutes. (There was a parking lot in front of Hachiman Shrine, but there was a parking lot congestion on the road, so if you can walk around the city, you should stop at Gyoda City Hall and head for it.)
