We went for the self led clay making experience and had a look around whilst we were in there. This was the first time we've been and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of history to learn about, lovely little cafe right on the canal also.

We went to use the cafe which appears in a Sawdays book... The extra Mile as its close to the motorway. The cafe was lovely, set in the packing house and right next to the canal. Unsurprisingly everything is served on Middle port pottery. Really good coffee and a nice choice of teas. We enjoyed cake so can't comment on the full menu but it all looked lovely. I loved the faded blue mural on the wall and the teapots made into lights. Really good location and a fascinating place to wander round, lots of little studios that you can pop into as well

Visited the Middleport pottery yesterday for a factory tour and we weren't at all disappointed. Stuart our guide was a wonderful host and had so much knowledge regarding Middleport pottery and Burleigh China. We are so pleased this wonderful factory still exists and welcomes visitors to appreciate the work needed to produce such wonderful products. Keep up the good work Stuart with your tours 😊

We've just been for a visit in August 2023. A really interesting place to see Some lovely little shops where produce is hand crafted. A decent cafe, excellent food with great service.

Rather expensive on the face of it, however there is plenty to look at if you pay to see the areas that are not on the free version of the visit. The free version gives access to much of the site and all the outside areas. Lovely cafe and delicious cakes.

Full of local pottery history, you can do your own little tour of the outer parts, but if you want to get inside the interesting parts, you need to pay for a guided tour. We didn't, but it sounded worth it, led by passionate volunteers. We still learned a lot thanks to the many signs and old photos explaining the workings of such a factory you find pinned on walls everywhere, especially upstairs. There are also a big shop and a nice café, with indoor and outdoor seating along the canal with wholesome food (pricey!), their oatcake with cheese and beans, which I'd rather call a savory pancake, and the carrot soup with coriander served with wholemeal ciabatta, were delicious and very filling. It really felt like a step back in time. Recommended visit if you're in the area or want to see something different on a day out. Fun fact: A scene of Peaky Blinders was filmed there, along the canal.

First time here for there yearly Christmas lights turn on. What an amazing place. Can't believe all the years I have lived in Stoke and I have never been. On the night there were loads of children activities. My son loved it and had an amazing time. There is also lots of independent shops there as well. It's a great place to go for a day for shopping. Definitely be back for some Christmas shopping.

Really fascinating piece of local history. You can go inside a bottle kiln, where they project images on the walls. You learn about the complicated manual processes to fire china and the staff are really friendly and well-informed. Finally, there's a café where you can relax by the canal. Looking forward to returning once factory tours start again.

Spent well over an hour exploring the wonderful shops as well as the bath house and old steam engine , what a delight, a wealth of information given by one of the guys who was operating the engine he certainly knew his stuff , we then went down an old alleyway to the studios which are open to all visitors and the artists are very welcoming , most prices in various studios for gifts are reasonably priced , the more ornate are more expensive but then again plenty of work has gone into their art so that has to be expected , didn't try the coffee shop as just had breakfast at hotel we were staying at but I believe it is well worth the visit , will be recommending to family and friends , well done to you all

A very Interesting place looking at the heritage of the pottery industry and it's workings. Nice cafe to get a bite to eat and a drink. Also some good bargains in the shop if you are looking for souvenirs or indeed a full dinner set.

Great historic pottery. Lovely to see the old industrial buildings and the potbanks. Really nice to see how much of the pottery is still made on sight locally.

Spent a lovely afternoon wandering round the heritage trail at my own pace. It's imaginatively laid out and there's lots of information about this important part of British industrial history.

What a fantastic find. Great stop not far from the motorway. Dogs are welcome. Not only the place where Pottery throwdown has been filmed but also Peaky Blinders. Great for a couple of hours near the canal. The cakes are just great.

Beautifully restored factory and terraced streets. Factory tour and self-guided tour were very thorough and interesting. The cafe food was tasty, especially the lobby and oat cakes (service isn’t rushed so allow time for this).

What an amazing piece of history this is! So many pieces are still decorated by hand, I had no idea. This is a place that should forever be preserved.

Went to this establishment today mainly to get some food on the way back home. Service was very good, lovely little cafe, quite cheap with some great seating by the side of the canal! Worth a look around at the pottery shops as well, quite a few skilled craftspeople working there. Heritage trail is also good, with some interesting guides. Staff were very helpful with my disabled son. Thank you!

Visited whilst in the area and decided to do the heritage tour as they aren't doing full factory tours at the moment. Was very informative and interesting. We then went to the lovely café and had a delicious cream tea. All of the staff we encountered on our visit were very helpful and friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had. I will definitely be visiting again when in the area as we were informed our ticket could be used again within 12 months.

This place is an excellent example of great preservation of our industrial heritage while still being a working pottery. We had a fantastic tour and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable to add the experience too. The combination of history and modern business seeing how all the various pots were made gave us a real appreciation for the craft. The added bonus of the cafe, with an absolutely fantastic well-cooked breakfast, made our day complete. We will definitely return.

We came so our children could take part in a string art event at half term. This is a lovely place to visit; friendly staff, fun events, and a great place to wander around and get a sense of what life was like in the potteries. Came away with some gorgeous pottery too!

We went primarily to view the FORTYSEVEN exhibition of bottle oven photos, which was very good and interesting. Many of the shops weren't open which was a shame and it was very quiet. We would like to do a full guided factory tour but this is only available week days. We will hopefully return for this. Had a drink and cake from the cafe, it was delicious and lovely to be able to sit outside by the canalside.

We had a great day out. The experience was over and beyond our expectations, thanks to our extremely helpful and passionate tour guide, John. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was really fascinating to learn and experience the history of pottery. The cafe was also excellent. Overall highly recommended.

What a lovely experience. Came at a weird time so the shop was closed but we were able to do the heritage self guided tour. You get to see a bottle oven and all sorts of the tools used in the bottle oven. Some of the old equipment used was stored outside and is quite eroded but you can still tell what they were. Cute lil cafe on the grounds and some individual potters studios/galleries too! Great spot! Would recommend a visit!

Middleport Pottery Pottery started in 1888 and was featured in the Peaky Blinders. Home of Burleigh Pottery. Follow trails or join a factory tour. Even has a workers terraced house. Interesting place, worth a visit. Next time will do the factory tour.

Fascinating place. Stewart, our tour guide did an excellent job of taking us through the history of the pottery, right up to today. This is not just a museum, but a working pottery, encompassed in grade 2A buildings that date from the 1880's. The entire pottery making process can be seen, by observing their very talented craftspeople at work. Excellent restaurant. Well worth a visit. We will be back, as the 5 hours we spent there was just not enough time . Book early !

Good find. Enjoyed the museum and touring around the shops that were open, though there weren't many (at the time). Would love to go back when it's in full swing.

I absolutely loved it here! Loads of history and it was great to immerse myself in it. The first couple of series' of The Great Pottery Throwdown were filmed here...the show that started my love for pottery and the reason for my visit. It would be nice to have a few more potter's work for sale though.

Great place for a day out. Guided tours and self-guided tours. Still a working pottery and with additional craftspeople, cafe, shop. On the canal. A good day out and can be visited rain or shine.

The website needs more details and should encompass the independent traders present. The experience itself was good. The cafe was competitively priced and clean. We took our 5 yr old grandson and he enjoyed making something with the clay. I didn't see anything on the website about it or if it's there I missed it.
