We visited just as the sun shared its final rays of the day. The awe-inspiring spitfire shone as if emerging from a mission. It was breathtaking and in a park of such natural beauty and so close to the sea. It is a perfect celebration of those who flew them, lost their lives and save this amazing country.

Let us never forget those brave men who have aloud us to enjoy the freedom we now enjoy. I personally feel very very privileged to have known a Spitfire Pilot, so thank you all. This is such a fitting tribute.

Wow, History in the making. We wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for those that played there part. Male and female. Tough mentally.

There's a full size spitfire replica here on a high mount and several information boards giving some very sombre information about Fighter Command, Bomber Command and Coastal Command. The aircraft has a pilot figure in it and looking up to the aircraft gives you a sense of scale and makes a real impact. It's all very simple but makes you pause and remember. I'm a sucker for anything to do with WW2 especially aviation related, so I am a bit biased, but even so...this is a fitting memorial.

This we came across on our 15k steps walk from just beyond windmill at Lytham up sea front to & around Fair Haven Lake & back again. The park/lake has been renovated & a lovely place. Let's hope it's kept good especially by the public, respect it.

A very well presented memorial. Good attendance even though it rained quite heavily. The Hurricane flypast just finished off the service beautiful. Well done to all who organised it.

A beautiful graceful memorial to a young pilot lost during WW2 who's remembered with passion by Lytham St Anne's Spiyfire Display Team and locals. A real eye catching plane to see in the park.

When exploring an RSPB site you probably don't expect to come across an exact replica of a World War 2 Spitfire but at Fairhaven Lake that is exactly what you get. The information boards explain the reason for the memorial and the sad history of the original fighter aircraft, funded by locals, and its pilot. There is plenty of free parking a very short walk away as well as two pay and display carparks in the immediate vicinity. The site itself is free to enter and accessible at all times. There are also toilets beside the lake, payable by card or coins they cost 40p and seemed clean enough. Sited within yards of both a lake and the sea (when the tide is in) it is definitely worth exploring the wider area. Be sure to check out the blue plaque on the former house of local celebrity George Formby and take a walk to the White Church where Les Dawson got married. Dogs are welcome and there is a children's playground in the vicinity. There is plenty of grass to enjoy games and picnics as well as benches. There is an RSPB shop and at the other end of the lake you can buy ice creams and refreshments. You can even hire various water craft to get a look at the spitfire from the water. If you are in the area this is a must-see.

This memorial spitfire looks and is amazing if you stand between the plinth and someone taking your photo it can be made to look as if the spitfire is flying just above your head and its location is in a park close to the sea with a children's playground, bowling greens, tennis courts, crazy golf, it also has a large lake that you can hire motor boats on, it also has a lot of history just look at the buildings and read the plaques on them, it's very interesting to see just how old they are and what they were used for. It is also noting that the RSPB have got a shop and information building alongside a small exhibition., looked after by some very pleasant and friendly people πŸ™‚

A beautiful clean space for the family to enjoy. We were able to park on the adjacent road for free and enter the park by the children's activity playground. This opens up to a splendid view of Fairhaven lake which you can stroll around. The Spitfire memorial is an absolute must for anybody interested in the history of that era and must be one of the best in the country. You can picnic here and enjoy the views and afterward stroll along the beach to visit the St Annes attractions.

πŸ‘ Lovely atmosphere - like going back 40 years! The afternoon tea was lovely. Toilets were a little tired (I was picking fault because I had to walk there and back twice from the cafΓ© at the opposite end of the pier with a bad back to return with the 20p needed for entry!)
