Fantasy Island, Old Hillsborough Bay

Park β€’ Historical landmark

πŸ‘ Cool place. I kayak here from Williams park which takes roughly 20-30 minutes. It's a small island that has a walking path that goes toward the middle of the island. There is a pavilion in the middle but last time I went some honey bees were making it their home. Would be great if there someone will... People often mention island,

Cool place. I kayak here from Williams park which takes roughly 20-30 minutes. It's a small island that has a walking path that goes toward the middle of the island. There is a pavilion in the middle but last time I went some honey bees were making it their home. Would be great if there someone willing to bring it back to life if we got some donations to get together, because it is a really cool place to hang out and explore. Some good fishing around here as well.

Good little place to chill out. Closest island to Alafia or Hillsborough River. Beach has a lot of shells, not super sandy. Sandbar area on the northwest side of the island has less shells. A few trails go across the island but be prepared to be destroyed by mosquitos. Not great scenery, you can see the industrial area of Tampa.

Sad how fast this island is washing away and how little boats care about it. Boats are constantly leaving trash. The island is a bird sanctuary in the spring. Once it's gone, the birds will have to find another place to nest each year.

I would say this landfill is over rated. It just happened while dredging. Misrepresenting historic landmark. It just happened.

A great place to wade in the shallow, play with the kids or dog, and float around.
