I’m not sure what this place was like in 1963 when they opened, or even 10 years ago but it’s now a well oiled machine. Order at the designated register, they text you what window to pick up your sandwich when it’s ready. Although the feel of this being a local sandwich shop might have changed, I assure you that the sandwiches are top notch. Obviously the Cuban (you can get pressed or not) is great, but honestly the Beef Martini became my go to. Sure it’s on white bread (still good though) but with a garlic & herb spread, beef, bacon, and mushrooms. You’ll see locals picking up their phones in orders as well as small tour vans stopping in. Your van or on your own, make sure to be one of the people that comes and tries this place out.

Love it, Beef Martini sandwich and a slice of humming bird cake... So much food! Ate half for lunch and had the rest for dinner. Delicious and creative choices on the menu.

A Tampa institution, Wright's has been around a very long time. A great and tasty selection of sandwiches and desserts. Buy delicious desserts by the piece or buy an entire pie or cake. A bit pricey but worth it. It has changed a lot since I worked South Tampa 25 years ago but the food is still awesome. Give it a try sometime when your in the area. I got a ham and cheese, simple but good.

Really enjoyed this cafe. There’s a large selection of sandwiches, salads, and bakery goodies. The beef martini was delicious but next time I would get the bread toasted. The Paris was interesting. I didn’t think I would enjoy the Spanish bean soup but it was well made. The home style potato salad and green potato salad were solid. I would pass on the coleslaw, although one could tell that it was freshly made - it wasn’t to my liking. Lastly, I would always recommend the alpine cupcake or red velvet cake from here, super yummy.

Family owned business for a few décades. And is serving some of the best desserts and sandwiches in town. Came here with a group of people. You have to place your order, pay for your food then they will either text you it’s ready or call your name via intercom. I got the Paris Sandwich and a carrot cake. I’ve never had thin slices of apples on a sandwich until I came here and it was the best thing ever. The carrot slice was so big and delicious I ate on it for three days. I must warn you that you will need to come with an appetite or atleast know that two people can eat off one sandwich and dessert.

Excellent restaurant for lunch! I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of items and how great they tasted. The Monte Cristo was toasted perfectly with quality ingredients inside. They have some of the best cupcakes and cakes I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely go back several times in the future to try more.

This place was great. You know when there is a line staking all the way to the door, it must be really good. The wait to order was worth it. The sandwiches were very good, and they had plenty of meat but not too much. We also had a slice of the rum cake, and I have to say it's some of the best I've ever had. The Greek potato salad and pesto pasta salad are excellent choices too. Bring a healthy appetite!

Incredible little sandwich spot. The cake is probably the best in tampa, like don't bother with Sprinkles or small cakes or any of those chains. They hands down have the BEST cake I've ever tried in this country. Their food is so good. Go early to beat the crowd. We bought 120 quarters of sandwiches for an event. They were very professional catering service.

The cubano was great, Greek potato salad was creamy and delicious. As someone not from the area, I took note that most people had a slice of cake as part of their order (and sometimes the only part of their order). Friend of mine noticed the same thing, ordered a slice of red velvet and it changed his life.

Best sandwiches that have ever graced the lips of mankind. Succulent meats and out of this world bread. The choices are vast and varied. The salads are huge and delightful. The side dishes take you to a whole other level of pleasure. The quiche is so perfect that it defies the imagination. And don't get me started on the cakes. Never has something so wonderful ever danced on my tastebuds. Oh, Wrights! You've done it! You've surpassed all culinary expectations and sored above the rabble to become the greatest sandwich shop that ever was! I will keep coming back again and again.

If you like delicious baked goods like cake & cupcakes, deli sandwiches piled HIGH with deli meat, cheese and veggies, and delicious salads and pastas the Wright's is the place for you! Wright's is a South Tampa institution and a place you must visit if you spend any length of time in Tampa! The history is so rich. The service is amazing. The food is fantastic. And you'll never regret coming! Make sure to try the Hawaiian Process cake!

Jeff and the team, your restaurant is exceptional. It is clean, fast, and does not engage in upselling tactics. Your team is friendly and always interacts with customers. The fact that you have many regular customers speaks volumes about the excellent service you provide. Additionally, your restaurant is well-equipped, ensuring smooth operations. It's worth highlighting that your team is paid a salary, so customers do not need to worry about leaving tips. Your employees have also been with you for a long time, demonstrating loyalty and commitment. Above all, your commitment to high-quality food at a reasonable price sets your restaurant apart from the rest.

Ordered the Turkey Club on Pumpernickel bread and a chocolate chip cookie. 🍪 The sandwich meat was so fresh and tasty, bread nice and soft, but my bacon was Def burnt. 🤒 I just removed it and enjoyed the sandwich without it, still totally worth the money. Cookie was big and soft, and Def tasty! Staff was friendly and helpful even during lunch rush. I dig it. 😎 I'll go back and try one of their awesome looking salads.

I had the tuna, pressed, I forgot to add the cheese however it was delicious 😋 The brownie was scrumptious and I also grabbed a bag of chips. This was a quick lunch before I headed over to the beach to enjoy Florida living! I have been coming to Wrights for decades and they never disappoint:)

Absolutely delicious! My parents were visiting this week, and we were looking for a good local deli to have lunch. I’ve always driven by this place and have wanted to try it. There were so many options, I was having trouble deciding. I tried the turkey martini and it was truly amazing!! The best deli sandwich I’ve had in a very long time. I’ll definitely be coming back.

My, my, my...what a great place to visit to get some good eats and treats!! The wait is long but worth every minute!! The desserts are unbelievably superb and very, very delicious!! The food is awesome, mouth-watering, and appetitizing!! The setup inside for ordering and the placement of everything is perfect! The parking to dine or take out is horrible. We almost got hit by other cars twice because there's limited parking and very narrow parking spaces. Thank you for such a great and terrific place to dine!!

Just so hard to say enough good things about this place. I have been dining here since arriving here in 1988. Every birthday and every important date was celebrated by a sheet of one of there fabulous and delicious cakes! For lunch or early dinner, the choices are endless. Sometimes I crave a fresh salad but mostly I order one of the turkey sandwiches of which there are many accompanied by there delicious Greek potato salad. The place is lively and busy but can accommodate a large crowd with quick turnovers. Parking is always a challenge but gives credence to what great food they provide.

Wright's Gourmet House is amazing! I was blessed to enjoy my lunch there last Saturday! I ate a Reuben sandwich, small bag of potato chips, mango iced tea & a slice of chocolate cake which I brought home. Everything was so delicious & tasty! The slice of cake was enormous & was so decadent! This was my first time visiting & I am hoping to return again very soon!

They charge an awful lot to get a Cuban without Cuban bread, they don’t know how to make a Cuban, they don’t have any Pumpernickel bread. I’m walking across the street to get a proper Cuban from Publix 🙄. This is their $12 Cuban. “We’re only as good as our last sandwich” well it was terrible!

This is a popular and well-known sandwich and cake shop in the area. It’s very popular with the locals, so expect a long line if you visit. However, the staff are pretty good about getting people through quickly and orders fulfilled in a reasonable time. We ordered a couple of sandwiches - the Paris and the California Reuben. Both were delicious, although we liked the California one more. We also ordered a Hawaiian Princess Cake for dessert, and it was wonderful. The cake ‘slice’ was moist, flavorful and large. While a bit pricey compared to other sandwich shops, we will definitely be back to try their other sandwiches and cakes in the near future.

Let me tell you about my incredible experience at Wright's Gourmet House! First things first, their Cuban sandwich is simply amazing. The flavors burst in your mouth, and each bite takes you on a culinary journey to Havana. But that's not all – their cake slices are to die for! From rich chocolate to velvety red velvet, they have a slice of heaven for every dessert lover. Now, let's talk about the lunch rush. When I arrived, the place was buzzing with activity. It's no surprise that Wright's Gourmet House is a popular spot! If you're planning to visit during peak hours, I highly recommend placing your order ahead of time. Trust me, it's worth it. As someone who left feeling satisfied and already planning my next visit, I can confidently say that Wright's Gourmet House is a gem worth revisiting. The Cuban sandwich, the delectable cake slices, and the bustling atmosphere all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience. So, if you are hungry and searching for a delightful lunch spot, make your way to Wright's Gourmet House. You won't be disappointed!

When you find yourself in Tampa, make sure to check out this place. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. Despite the initially long line, the service was remarkably quick. I highly recommend trying their Beef Martini sandwich, featuring roast beef, mushrooms, bacon, and a delectable garlic and herb butter on toasted white bread. It truly ranks among the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. And don't miss out on their carrot cake cupcake for dessert, although be warned—the icing is quite sweet. I'm already looking forward to my next visit next week. This place has definitely won me over with its outstanding food and service.

Coming here is an absolute treat! It’s definitely worth the price. Food quality is great and the sandwiches are quite hefty. My family has been coming here for years and I have to say the best part is the pecan Rum Bundt cake. It’s gone up in price since we started coming here but that’s to be expected with all this inflation. Regardless it is absolutely worth it! 10/10 would recommend this place.

Lemon cake. First had this cake about 5 years ago visiting my brother in Tampa. This cake has traveled to WA several years in a row. We recently moved to UT where it currently sits. I had to stop and write a review on the 3 states I’ve enjoyed this delicious lemon cake after my first bite because it’s THAT great and consistent moist first bite that makes it a destination cake in Tampa… and for those visiting you from there. My brother thinks the Bucs are the best, but I’d rather have a piece of this lemon cake than a Bucs jersey any visit, any year. Thanks

First time here today. What a great place. Biggest deli/bakery I’ve seen. Very clean and nice atmosphere. I had the club sandwich which was amazing. Tons of meat, great bread and a nice smokey flavor from the ham. Took home a piece of lemon cake too. Really good. We’ll definitely be back to go through the menu and try all the cakes. Update 2/5/22, still the best. Had the ham and cheese. Razor thin ham just slightly sweet with Jarlsberg cheese and spicy mustard on pumpernickel. Just perfect!

First visit. Picked up an order for the guys at work. Very clean and open environment. All staff wearing white chef coats. Tempting desserts displayed in every direction. Take out line was short but multiple large orders were causing a slow down. My order was about 12 minutes later than planned. A few customers were getting frustrated with the wait. The food looked delicious. The packaging was well done. My favorite observation was there was a person in charge of double checking the order before it is handed to the customer. A very large crowd (50?) of Publix managers came in after me. Glad I beat the rush.

I definitely understand this place’s reputation now! One of the best turkey clubs I’ve ever had, and such a great variety of deli items. Tried the turkey salad too and was really surprised by how great that was. Friendly and helpful service.

I am currently sitting at the table writing this. Got here around 1:40, so the tail end of lunch rush. As expected, there was a line, but the employees taking orders managed to clear through it really quickly (probably 10-15 minutes from door to order). Got our drinks and sat down. Within 5-10 minutes our sandwiches were ready. I got the Turkey Martini, and it was AMAZING. Absolutely worth the wait and the price. So glad I found this place online, if I’m ever in the Tampa area again, I know exactly where to come for lunch!

The only place I’ll ever go to for birthday cakes (and cupcakes or just a slice)! The absolute best in Tampa that I’ve been to since the first time I had it at a friends in 2007. The flavors of each type of cake are still the exact same and I’m never disappointed with the quality; they really take pride in what they do. (The food is also great!)

I love Wrights. The sandwiches are so fresh, good and visually appealing. I always get the Club.. Sometimes the BLT. Cakes are good. I wish they would do the coconut cake again. Very nice staff working there. 12/02/21 - I went to Wrights again and guess what.... They have Coconut Cake. Yummy. I got 2. What can I say. I'm a greedy Cake monster.

Was told this place is a must visit in Tampa. It is a big place with plenty of seating. The cake per slice is about $7, it's big and heavy. Desserts choices didn't have big selections, but all have one thing in common, huge and heavy. The sandwich is decent but the bread was amazingly soft and light.
