The sign outside says The Bunker but it’s called Foundation inside… they had a sign on the sidewalk that said “good coffee here” and that’s what drew me to this place to begin with. But just like the sign said, it’s only good coffee not great. It was very sour and lemony, which tells me that the beans may be stale. I couldn’t even finish my cappuccino it was just not a good flavor- in my opinion. I think my expectations were on the higher side, considering it was a coffee focused house. The cappuccino was spilt all over as it was being handed to me. But the staff was friendly. The music was interesting…not very “coffee house vibes” it was alternative/rap music. I was expecting this place to be a vibe and it was so mixed matched it wasn’t a cohesive theme. With a few changes here and there it could be a cute brunch place but until then I will not be going back to update the review.

This is the first time I have ever been to this place. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese, on Cuban bread. When I received it, I had to laugh. The egg was clearly microwaved into a perfect 2inch rectangle a quarter of the size of the bread. There was hardly any cheese, and there was 2 very thin pieces of bacon. I had to eat half the bread to get to the egg. The size, quality, and taste of this breakfast sandwich was not worth the $9 I had to pay for it. I would not recommend this item on the menu. I cannot vouch for other items, but this was ridiculous. If it wasn’t take out that someone else got me, I would have left it in the counter.

I really like this place. The atmosphere is the bomb, the customer service is high-quality, they seem to know their stuff and they care for your experience. Their food is great. I got a muffin and a guava cheese pastry. Both were delicious and prepared hot which I like. The coffee was also great. If I lived over here, I could go every day because the menu is cost-effective and the service is fast, so you could be in and out or you could relax and enjoy the bunker

I usually hangout at this place over the weekends to get some reading. The ambiance is cool and coffee is okay. I remember the one time the barista made my cafe con leche with the milk that was about to expire and it had a funny taste. I complained about it to her about why this coffee taste sour. she quickly realized the problem and replaced the coffee. The couches are comfortable and over all this place has a positive and warm feeling.

A very cozy coffee shop located in Ybor. It’s always a very warming environment with a local feel and always with local art on the walls. Their coffees and teas are good and always seem a little stronger than neighboring shops. Their food was what always surprised me - their sandwiches are so good, the breakfast croissant, and from time to time they have homemade soup and speciality lattes seasonally! All very comfort-food vibes. This is an excellent spot to get some work done, or to meet up with a friend as they have a great outdoor patio out back.

Excellent coffee shop. Great coffee and the cheese danishes were just coming out of the oven when I ordered - yes thank you!!! A few seats outside to enjoy the air and roosters!!! Perfect!

Usually i don’t like to add bad reviews but after my experience here I felt it was only fair to be honest and make sure other people know what to expect. First off the staff was on their phones and seemed quite distracted when I placed my order. I asked for a kids temp drink. I sat and sat and no one called to let me know my order was ready. When I got it, it was scalding hot. I went to the counter and asked for some milk to add. The cup was 1/2 full and she added a drip and then I was rudely told “it’s not boiling”. Tell that to my tongue that was burnt. This drink was $8 and then the staff went back to their phones and personal conversations. This place needs a lesson in manners and customer services. Will NOT be back. Go somewhere else and pay less and be treated better.

I’m going to be brutally honest here. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, good location, peaceful outdoor area. So why only 2 stars? First, the wait for my coffee and food was a good 20 plus minutes which is way way too long. I get it, a place can get busy, but there was one person ahead of me who ordered just a coffee. I think the main cook was in the bathroom or something, but regardless I waited and it was annoying especially when no one apologized for the extremely long wait time for just a coffee and a sandwich. Next, I think the pricing was a bit high. For example, I paid $9 for a Cuban breakfast sandwich, that wasn’t that good (or at least could have been much better for that price). Also my coffee was just average. Would I come back to Foundation? Despite my subpar 1st time experience, I probably would give them a second chance because the server was nice and I like the atmosphere of the cafe. Hopefully, the long wait I experienced was a one off.

I've been to the coffee truck many times, but I love this location even more! I always get a Cafe con Leche because it's just perfect ..and this time I tried a pumpkin spice cream cheese muffin which was delicious & fresh. I love the eclectic decor & local art for sale on the walls. I'm still thinking about buying the peacock painting...

I loved this place and its coffee from day one. Staff is friendly, and sweet. They have different milk options and flavors for the coffee, my favorite is the cappuccino with oat milk and lavender 😍 They offer a small but good variety of breakfast sandwiches and other baked desserts. Their choco banana bread is so yummy 😋 Great coffee to spend a few hours working, reading or just chilling with an outdoor seating area.

If you are a coffee connoisseur or just enjoy great coffee you will like this place. I like the atmosphere: casual, contemporary and chic. But most of all I like their coffee, fresh, intense flavor, the way coffee should be. I tried a cappuccino and it was the best I've had in the Tampa area. You can get a good idea of what the place looks like by looking at the pictures in the other reviews. I should note that this is a coffee shop that focus on coffee and doesn't offer many other options of pastries/snacks. Personally it doesn't affect my view of the place but I think they can improve the experience and add profits by adding a few healthy items and treats that coffee lovers like to enjoy with their coffee. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to friends.

This is a really nice place. The coffee is excellent and there are a lot of food options. The decor is very pleasant. I would say, however, that it is not the best spot to do work in for a long time. But it is very suitable for an hour or two. It's a good place to start in the am followed by a walk around the confines of Ybor City. Although the rehabilitation of the neighborhood is still pretty much in its infancy, a long stroll in and around the side streets can be quite interesting. And its never completely quiet, as you are certainly going to encounter many Roosters simply walking about - a pretty unique site indeed.

LOVED my experience here. I came with my husband, we got cappuccinos and dined in. The coffee was perfect. The atmosphere was great, we loved the hip music. The barista was very sweet and helpful even though she was by herself she got our order out in a timely manner. They are dog friendly which is a bonus! Will be coming back here

Coffee latte is good but I prefer to be served on the house cup, the muffin was overheated and saggy. Overall the ambiance is welcoming and cozy.

The Breakfast Cuban sandwich is worth the trip to Foundation Coffee. This tasty sandwich is a fun take on the classic Cuban sandwich that Tampa is known for. The bread is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The saltiness of the meat pairs well with the egg on the sandwich. We also tried the Goat Cheese Croissant. Another excellent choice. The homemade Lavender sauce for the Iced coffee was good but not above average. We are giving Foundation Coffee 10/10 overall for being innovative and making Breakfast fun with their take on the classic Cuban sandwich

On Sunday morning I was looking for a place to have coffee and quick bite. Since I haven't tried the foundation coffee before and it was on my list so I took this an opportunity to have coffee at Foundation Coffee. It is a small beautiful cafe with free wifi access where one cab work and sip coffee. There is also a roadside parking available in front of the cafe. Along with different options for coffee available at foundation coffee it also includes teas, Beer, wine and also to have quick bite like bagel, croissant etc. After exploring the menu from the register area I ordered Macchiato Hot Coffee, Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese, Butter Croissant and Cold Brew for me as well as my friend. The service was good and soon in 5-10 minutes we got our order. First I had bagel with toasted pretty well with Cream Cheese spread which made it delicious. My friend had butter croissant which was delicious hot and toasted in oven. Then i had hot macchiato which was good and freshly roasted coffee. Then we tried our cold brew which my friend also said that it could have been better. Maybe it was not our taste. All in all amazing cafe with multiple stuff to sip and delicious food.

Eh. It’s okay coffee, but I think there are much better places in Tampa. Coffee is very sour tasting- without syrup, I don’t think I’d be able to enjoy it that much. Overall, pretty average.

Great place to hang out with some friends or read a book. Great selection of craft coffees and signature drinks. I wasn't sure what I wanted to get and the barista Jerod suggested I get the Honey Cinnamon Expresso and it was a great suggestion! Sit by the windows and watch the chickens pecking away outside.

Awesome local coffee shop with an old-school, pre-Starbucks, vibe. Great coffee, cool atmosphere. Worth a stop if you’re in Ybor City.

Decent coffee spot with a few breakfast and lunch options. Typically a bit slow in making the coffee drinks, but I love their cafe con leche. Good WiFi for the most part so it’s a good place to do some work from. Back little courtyard is nice too.

This was my 2nd time here and I guess I should have left it as once. Ordered a plain coffee and 2 breakfast sandwiches. I watched numerous people come in after us get their orders. After 20 mins I asked for the coffee. I said what about breakfast sandwiches. He realized they weren’t even started. Now at half hour we got them. We barely got a sorry about the wait. I wouldn’t have minded a wait if they didn’t forget to make my order.

Definitely one of the better coffees in Tampa (had a Cortado) but breakfast Cuban sandwich was ok.

Great atmosphere. Music was good, couldn't overhear people's conversations too much. Food was good but over priced, walked away feeling hungry. If you like bitter coffee this is the place for you. I unfortunately do not like bitter coffee and gave my mocha cold brew with creamer back basically full. Overall heading somewhere else to get more food and a coffee I can drink. Will not recommend.

The Cafe is nice and it's good place to chill or sit and do work but the quality is iffy sometimes. Each time I get a parfait, the fruit on top is moldy. It's very off putting and this has happened at least 3 times. Their baked products and sandwiches and teas are good tho.

We had a surprisingly unpleasant experience on 1/25/22. We were one of the first customers and everything seemed normal until we tasted our coffee. We all got different drinks and the coffee/espresso had a bittersweet almost fruity taste. I asked why the coffee tasted this way but didn't get a response. Atmosphere was great and service was ok; just the beans were bad.

Waited almost twenty minutes for a cup or regular coffee and a tea, even though there was no line, and when we asked for a refund the worker said “oh i can start making it now if you want”…like what?! Only gave it two stars because the coffee was pretty good. Don’t go here if you don’t feel like waiting forever!

Perfectly designed shop. Beautiful vibes and variety of sitting locations. Good cold brew and even better nitro cold brew! Amazing! Drip coffee had grounds in it. Didn't see pour over on menu. Service wasn't great from the guy who served me. Seemed irritated by requests to sample product. I can understand- but showing frustration effects experience. Neat location. Was given to-go cup for samples vs a for here glass creates more waste. :/ still an enjoyable place if you live within the area.

I would give them a 10 if I could. We contacted Jennifer a while back about holding my 18 year old's birthday there. They have this really cool patio area in the back, that was perfect. Jennifer and her team bent over backwards to make it an amazing experience for my daughter and her buds. The coffee was amazing (as always), and the food was unbelievable. There were a lot of extra touches that we didn't expect, but it just goes to show how much they care about their customers. Gabby and Jill were very attentive as the assisted about 20 teenagers (bless their souls!). I am a fan for life, thank you guys for an incredible experience.

Great little spot for coffee, it has a beautiful outdoor seating section out back. The drinks have always been perfect each and every time, I can honestly say this is my favorite place to go for coffee. We've tried The Hall and the Union, but this always tastes the best for me.

Loving the direction the owners are taking this bar. With a focus on quality, they're offering some truly exceptional coffees from some of the best roasters in the world. This Kenyan from Hex is exactly what I want in a washed east African coffee! I look forward to seeing their own roasting develop in the near future as well.

Walked in at 8:30 on a Tuesday. 3 guys sitting that have already ordered. The girl behind the counter didn’t say hello or acknowledge us and eventually go our order of 2 coffees and a bagel. Took 25 minutes. Coffee was bitter and sugar was added from a bottle? Great atmosphere, change your staff please!

  • 2/5 Stella O. 1 year ago on Google
Disappointing every time. The service is always slow, disorganized and reprioritizing the customer. The coffee and food are good and the interior is nice but the lack of ugency for the customer is frustrating. Additionally they need to fix their sound system. It skips, stops and scratches making for a less than pleasant experience. I want it to be good, but it clearly has a lack of good management.

  • 3/5 Aiyana R. 1 year ago on Google
Honestly it makes me sad to write this review as I think this coffee shop could be great and sometimes is. When certain staff are working service is great and the coffee is wonderful, but when others are there the coffee is made with strange proportions and the service is very slow. All employees are very nice but perhaps need more training. Also, the store seems to consistently run out of things like drink cups, lids, and syrups and there have been many times they appear understaffed. I have been here at least a dozen times but the service is so inconsistent that I've made the decision to go elsewhere because I'm not sure what I will get when I arrive. Reply to owner's response: To clarify, these issues have nothing to do with the hurricane, I have been here only once since then. The issues have been ongoing for the past several months.
