The restaurant does look very inviting on the photos, it's in a great location and water views are amazing. Having said that, that's all we liked about Whiskey Joe's. Parking can be somewhat complicated, there's a valet and also very full paid parking lot. If you would like to sit outside on their beach, there's a $5 charge per person. It was four of us so we paid $20, just to be pretty disappointed. You have to look for a table yourself and all tables that were available were very dirty and staff did not bother to clean them up. After about 15 minutes a waitress gave us a very dirty menu. People around us were smoking non stop. After waiting another 20 minutes with no waitress in sight, we decided to try the indoor restaurant. So we just waisted $20 to sit at a dirty table with no service. We put our name on the list (40 minute wait) and waited at the bar. They must have been under staffed as there were many empty tables in the restaurant. Finally got to our table. Food and drinks were nothing special, oysters were good but pricey. We're locals and there are many other great places on the beach. I do not recommend this one.

Whiskey Joe's is a tourist spot on weekends. Be smart if you're traveling; visit early during a week day. We absolutely loved the view and food during our Tuesday morning visit. We got there around 11:30 am. There was no line for the beach seating, and our food and drinks were done relatively quickly! We ate at one of the tables, then enjoyed more drinks right at the water, bathing in the sun! I give 4 stars because it was a bit overpriced, and the fish and chips was soggy. The Gator bites were worth trying, and the tacos were very good! The bartenders outside were very friendly and fast. I would definitely go back around the same day/time for more tacos!

Lots of potential! There’s a lot to be said about this place, so hang tight! Food: some of the must try are the gator bites and the fish and chips! Both were succulent. If you’ve never tried alligator and you want to do so, here is the place! Atmosphere: is safe and relaxing. Staff: OMG, they are so short for staff that it’s almost makes this place not worth going! When you on the beach and are trying to relax but want to order food/drinks and you can not get a waitress to come take your order even though you’ve asked 2 of them to come take your order, it destroys your peace. One thing I should mention as well, this was place has a perfect spot to see the sun set! So if you’re a crazy romantic person that wants to impress your partner, here is the place to take him/her.

View was gorgeous at sunset. Make a reservation, if not , good luck to you. Food was satisfying. Florida your seafood at lower and high end levels has not impressed me yet. The atmosphere was great the night I went. I was not inside l, didn't go inside so can't comment on its interior. End of the day unwind.....go ! It is worth it. Food was not bad it may have been me and not being in the mood for it.

The food was pretty good and I was a fan of the atmosphere. My only issue was there was like 6 girls at the hostess stand and after we got on the wait list we looked at the souvenirs and when we wanted to buy one they all just stared at us. After asking us if we wanted to buy one we said yes and put it by the register. They stared at us more then turned around and went back to talking. Other than that it was a pretty good experience. Our waitress was super helpful and the food was good. The drinks were really tasty as well and definitely not weak haha

I came here with my son and my sister brought her neice ... We came for lunch... It was beautiful.... We got to see dolphins while we sat and ate our food.I ordered the nachos and I thought they were good but nothing special. My sister got the enchiladas dish and she wasn't happy with hers. We also got the 16 piece chicken wings and they were just normal wings from say like a chain restaurant. But if I'm going to give a honest review , I feel like the prices are a little high compared to the quality of the food, it's more of the experience I guess that makes it great currently. There under construction at the moment, but that honestly didn't get in the way at all, they offer valet services , they also have outside seating and a outside bar area good for evening night outs , I've came to there outside bar area previously and it's very relaxing... Good for just a fun chill night with friends or a partner.

The restaurant effin sucks. Worst pizza ever, staff with bad attitude. The water I got had a bit of salt around the rim 🤢. 0/10 BUT! The beach bar was great! They have bonfires, great cocktails, service is a bit slow, their wings were good. The sunset was beautiful. Great music! Total vibe.

Super fun day! My out-of-state bestie came for a visit. She, I, and my toddler spent the day sampling drinks and relaxing with our toes in the sand (they have a very large outdoor/beach seating area). The staff was extremely laid back but fun, knowledgeable about drinks and menu items, and fun to chat with while waiting. Now it's $$$-$ mixed drinks $11-15. Food was decent, above average but not great. I got shrimp and they were chewy. The people we sat next to were also great. Easy conversation, laid-back environment, and lots of laughs. Will DEFINITELY go back and add to the "take visitors" list.

Let me start by saying the atmosphere here is amazing. It's a cool spot located right on the water on the outskirts of Tampa. The outside tiki bar looks pretty fun but we didn't go there. We didn't mind the 20 minute wait to be seated but they ended up putting us at a bar table that was empty the whole time we waited. And it stunk like bar rot. Unfortunately it took over and hour for fish tacos and a grilled chicken sandwich. The food was basic. I thought there would be tons of seafood options but there wasn't. $4.25 for a soda. They were out of sweet potato fries and gator bites. I would recommend going somewhere else if you're with a big group or with family especially with kids. Might be a fun place to hang out but I won't go back. It's a bummer. They do offer valet parking for $6. Also the GM walked past our table 4 times and never said a word.

Right on the beach, there are great sunsets and a fantastic bar. One side of the beach can be a tad smelly but the other side is great. It’s a fabulous place to watch the sunset. They make great cocktails and the service is fantastic. I would go back for sure

The food was pretty decent. Filling! It won’t win any awards any time soon but that’s ok. I don’t think this place is trying too hard from a culinary point of view. My wife ordered crab cakes. They were a bit disappointing. The service wasn’t great, but the place was busy. I ordered some alcoholic cocktails. They were weak! I would go back if you twisted my arm, but certainly not in a hurry.

The location of this restaurant and view from here is amazing. Staff is friendly. But sadly that's where all it ends. Food is not at all good. Kids grill chicken was so dry and chewy. The same chicken was served with Alfredo pasta and all we ate was just pasta. Fish tacos were completely bland, no seasoning to the fish and it's stuffed with Cole slaw which was sweet so fish tacos has no taste. My family was there to celebrate a small occasion and we ordered brownie with ice cream and that totally destroyed our dinner experience. Brownies were baked and served in a small cast iron pan. They did not spay the pan and we had to dig hard to get the piece of brownie. Brownie was extremely dry and hard to another level. We could not get the brownie leave the pan. I might visit this place may be to have a drink but never again for food.

Great sunset dinner spot, with a tiki hut bar outside for drinks, food is amazing, in the evening ( during the week)waiting times are about 20-30 minutes. The outside patio offers amazing sunset views. American / Mexican food, lots of drinks, nice service.. try the gator bites for appetizers:-) at the calm beach plenty of jet skies stopping by for a drink or some food..

I loved whiskey joes when I was visiting Tampa. It’s right on the water with a little beach feel and vibe. The servers were super nice and just had that laid back feel to them but were right there when you needed another round. If I’m ever back in Tampa I would sure spend a little more time here. Plus they have a little gift shop by the host stand so you can get a little something to remember your time here. The food was good, nothing too fantastic but it came out quick, hot, and correct. Which I like. 4 stars to it. But overall 5 stars.

Doing 4 stars because I wasn't too pleased with the quality of the food. Ordered the LOADED ISLAND FRIES and they were good but wasn't fresh. What I mean by that, the fries that weren't under all of the toppings weren't even crispy/hot. Were soft/soggy. I've had plenty of loaded fries where there's still a nice crunch even under the part that's loaded. I had the Nashville Hot chicken. Wasn't all that great. Was way more breading than actual meat. Also was fried way too hard(i usually like crispier chicken but not nearly burnt cripsy).I also couldn't enjoy my Miami vice frozen drink because of the straws used (and I do understand why those straws) but I basically had to wait until my drink started to melt to even be able to pull it through the straw. With that being said, went through about 4 straws because they break down really fast when sitting in the drink.

The place is very incredible. The paste is delicious. The waiter was very kind. The receptionist was very unpleasant. It's my first time at the bar, and I was treated very badly by this woman who works at the reception, as soon as I arrived. I didn't leave because I was very hungry. She chose a place for me to sit where I couldn't see the sunset, and I went for that reason, as well as being hungry. I asked to change tables and she was very rude. There were several other tables unoccupied. To work at reception, a person needs to be happy with life, treat people well, smile more, and be friendly. I don't recommend the kids burger.

We dined outside in the beach area. The weather and scenery were perfect. The wait time for a server to arrive in this area is not the greatest, but once you've received that initial service, it's uphill from there. ¿Breonna? was great and did a fantastic job. Although the menu has changed quite a bit since my last visit, everything was well cooked and delicious, especially the pulled pork tacos. We had malibu & pineapple juice as our drink of choice. So good. We love Whiskey Joe's!! Highly recommend you try them out 😉.

Yikes, this place is surviving solely on location, one of the tourist trap overlooks which we all love, but lord it's run like garbage. Split a grilled oyster app with the wife. Needless to say, I ate the crackers why she enjoyed her burnt bite size snack. Couldn't even get all 12 on the plate (we got 11, I now call that the florida dozen). My beer came in a little plastic cup. The waitress tried to keep up with me but tough when your getting only beer shots. You guys owe it to the location to do better.

Very nice restaurant between Tampa and Clearwater! The only thing is I would've liked there to have been a self parking option, as we were forced to valet, but space was very limited. That being said, the service was great and food wonderful! It had quirky decor and very spacious indoor and outdoor dining areas, including having their own tiki bar outside on the beach. Definitely worth stopping at!

Great fun waterfront bar and restaurant. Views cannot be beat and they have lots of seating options inside or out. Or if you're there just for a drink check out the sand bar. Menu is huge, staff is friendly in the food is good. Great place to come and hang out in good weather

Truly a destination to behold in Tampa love this place. It's always hopping with live entertainment it's a sprawling beach club/bar/restaurant vibe. From the valet parking to the bar staff out on the patio a solid 5 stars. Friendly staff where the customers do come first had the pleasure of two bartenders(Connor) waiting on me and and a friend, for a late lunch I ordered the dynamite shrimp tacos the portion was a nice size, two tacos with a giant portion of nachos and salsa on the side. My friend ordered a burger and requested a special BBQ sauce on the side and the staff was there immediately to fulfill any request. I visited the gift shop too, where they had some items on sale and I purchased a tank top that was clearanced. The gift shop girls were smiley and friendly. This place is perfect for people of all ages and they have their own beach!

I absolutely love this place. You can choose to sit inside, on an outside deck, and during the day, on the beach. There's an awesome bar attached that sits right on the beach. The drinks are awesome and affordable, and there's a jet ski rental area out there as well. It's a party vibe that you don't want to miss while visiting Tampa. The food is delicious, and I've probably tried it all. The menu changes quite a bit, so be sure to check the actual website for the most updated menus. Perfect for a date night and even great for a family dinner.

Beautiful setting which sets the atmosphere. Service took a little long to get a burger and fries. Wish the roll was toasted for the burger would have made it better. Definitely worth checking out.

Excellent! The crab cake appetizer was delicious as was the shrimp cocktail from the raw bar. The seasoning on the shrimp...wow. Mom had the seafood pasta which was was rich and truly delectable. Me and My sister each had a crab cake appetizer and split the fish tacos (one each and it was just right portion wise). Both were out of this world, tons of flavor and a perfect little kick to the crab cake sauce. The seasoning and sauce on the tacos was...wow again. Please don't forget the key lime pie because it's the real deal. I could taste the key lime and it was the perfect finish. Word to the wise they had run out of the crab and shrimp topped salmon by the time we arrived just before 8pm on a Sunday, which was a bummer, but what we ended up getting was truly fantastic. Still, don't delay getting to dinner to ensure they have everything on the menu. Our server was awesome. Oh great views too. There was a 15-20 minute wait for the deck so we were seated inside immediately which was actually for the best because it was a little humid. Still had a great view of the water from the window. When I come back to stay at the hotel across the way (plug for the Godfrey here) I'll be eating at Whiskey Joe's again for sure.

Atmosphere was Lite and fun, very laid back. Next to a public beach, and they also have a private beach ⛱️ Food was good. Waitress was nice. Birds EVERYWHERE. Indoor and outdoor seating. Clean restrooms. Tourist shopping inside restaurant. Private Beach area has a bar, a stage, volleyball court, fire pit, and umbrella tables for dining. Overall great place.

Cool beachside bar and grill. The grouper sandwich and firecracker shrimp was really good. The fish tacos were pretty mid but still good. Had a great view of the bay. The drinks were pretty strong as well.

In Tampa for the day after returning from a cruise. Saw chargrilled oysters on the menu and got excited. They're my favorite thing to eat in NOLA, and I haven't seen them served in many other places. We were greeted by an awful smell that I'm guessing was sewage at Ben T Davis Beach. Then we were greeted by 2 hostesses who didn't really seem to want to be there. Views were nice while the sun was setting and the live music was good, but all in all, the food was mid and overpriced. Oysters weren't bad. Calamari was good. Drinks were ok. Service was slow, but it was pretty busy. Our waiter was friendly.

The food was just okay. But the dippin shrimp does get a special shout-out. The sauce was so good, we were fighting over pieces of bread or using the gator bites to just dip in the leftover sauce. 🤤 It was beautiful watching sitting outside watching the sunset, however, the birds almost ruined the experience. Not sure what can be done about that though.

  • 4/5 Tatiana M. 2 years ago on Google
My waiter Jeffery was cool! Laidback and nice. The oysters were ok. The Bahama mama drink was way too sweet for me. The shrimp taste good. You get a good amount of shrimp for an appetizer. I took one star off for the drink menu wasn’t that great. I’m a gin drinker and all I saw was vodka and rum.

Awesome place, best time to go is during sunset and weekdays... Fridays and Saturdays is super busy. Food was super good and service staff were soooo sweet... They almost make you comeback for more just with that... Atmosphere and the spectacular sunset views just makes it a picture perfect rendezvous for any occasion or just outing with friends!

Our (8) visit was 3 March at end of business trip before catching our flights. Nice location and a popular place. Out-door and in door seating. However we all had a variety of dishes, but one thing was clear with them, someone uses way to much salt in these dishes. We had to get lemons or limes to cut that salt taste. Nothing impressive about food. We all said we have had much better. One person in a group wanted to come although some of us had already saw the reviews. You would not get me back here.

I haven't been here in 30+ years. Restaurant renovated and has a souvenir shop when you walk in. There is beach access and patio seating overlooking beach. Also window view seating overlooking beach. The food wasn't the best, I've had better. I had crab shrimp topped salmon. My server was friendly and very accommodating with my drink and bread choice. I would go back for atmosphere. Oh forgot $6 valet charge or paid city parking $1.75 for 2 hours. I parked in city parking. It's a hot walk. I watched some sexy men playing volleyball, ooolala nice view

Whiskey Joe's Barefoot Bar is absolutely fantastic when it comes to the vibes and views. They have both Indoor and Outdoor dining. It has views of the Tampa Bay and tall buildings along the waterfront on the opposite side. They have a bar on the beach and no reservations are required for seating outdoor. It is first come first serve and you can find a place for yourself (no waiting to be seated). There's a plenty of space to sit. Parking is valet parking only, where they mention you have to pay $6 before picking up the car (via website there's additional $1 convenience fees plus tips). Once, on the beach and seated, the servers come to you and take the orders. Service was not super quick but not extremely slow either seeing the size and capacity of the beach. Coming to food, we tried their Ultimate Pina Colada and Double Ultimate Strawberry which were both delicious. For food, their fries the crispiest I have ever had. If you are into super crispy fries, you will be blown over by their fries. Just amazing, super crispy but not burnt. Their Jammin Jerk Chicken sandwich is also great if you like BBQ sauce on your sandwich. Food quantities are good and prices seem totally worth it. Totally recommend this place.

I’m a local and this is a go-to location for when friends and family visit. The the new deck gets 5 stars and the sunset views are amazing. I have been going here regularly since 2018 and there’s always an issue with staffing. On Tuesday night we sat down for our 7:30pm reservation and our waitress let us know it would be an hour wait on food. This has been a pretty common theme. The deck was less than 50% full at this point. Our waitress was also stretched so thin that we would go 20-30 minutes without even seeing her. When the food arrived it was dry and bland with very little seasoning. The coconut mahi nuggets were almost inedible. In my opinion, stick with drinks at the beach bar.

We got seated fast and our waiter was great but……it took close to 50 mins to get our food. So I’d you have time and patience to kill then you’ll enjoy here. The atmosphere is nice and our food was made great. Just don’t come super hungry because it was quite a wait.
