Unfortunately, I agree with most of the comments. I drove down from Maryland and had to find something last minute. This was the only place that I could find and I would have felt safer and cleaner if I had slept in my car. My daughter and I couldn't use the bed covers because they were dirty. The floors were dirty. Nobody checked the room or came to collect trash everyday. We were there for 3 days. The staff is not friendly. The area is shady. Not being from the area we had no idea until we arrived and we didn't have any other option because the reservation was non refundable. I understand that the rates were fairly cheap but that is no excuse to be that dirty. I feel bad for anybody else that falls into having to stay at this pit of a place. If you are reading this review, PLEASE if you have any other choice, DO NOT STAY HERE!! I do agree that this place just needs to be shut down.

You get what you pay for. I saved a couple bucks on a cheep room and that's what I got. Clean sheets and blankets, ample toilet paper, abundant soap and shampoo. The rooms could use a deep clean, built up dirt in the corners, on light switches etc. I would also recommend a fresh coat of paint. I slept well. And that's what really matters when you are traveling on a budget.

If I could leave less than 1 star, I would. Every room is apparently a smoking room and if you’re lucky, your room will have its own smoke detector! Ours unfortunately did not. Trash, needles, Uncleaned floors, cigarette smell, existential dread, this motel has all of that. Don’t trust the elevator.

ABSOLUTELY 100% NOT WORTH IT. No refund. And please read more reviews than just the mains. This place is DIRTY. Nothing like the pictures. Holes in the wall, ROACHES EVERYWHERE. Just not what I expected for the price they charge. I’ve been here for one night and I’m already looking for another location. No sleep because you have randoms fighting outside all night long, doesn’t feel very welcoming. GO UP THE ROAD TO REDROOF.

I am pleased with the staff. I ended enjoying my stay after I had to change the entire bed linen. There is a disturbing element of trespass. If you need peace and quiet or, at least some sense of privacy, do not stay in room 137.

Whoaaa is all I can say !! Walked in the room and was greeted with a slap of smoke ! Of cigarettes at that ! A bar had less smoke smell than this room. The walls looked like somebody missed the toilet on a good diarrhea run. There was roaches to be our company as well. People throughout the night were banging on our door ! We had to move furniture to block the door to secure safety because of the constant knocking. The faucet wasn’t on properly and moved when we wanted to wash our hands along with a clogged sink. The bathroom has a peeping tom outlet to the point I could see light coming from someone else’s room. The fridge is scary and makes you want to not store your food ! The AC was changing and very humid ! The bathroom would also get a smell of Fritos throughout the night. So much activity outside our door as if we were at a night club. This place is repulsive and the owners had the nerve to bang on our door before checkout time to make sure we were leaving. I was already packing ready to go ! This place is repulsive!!! BEWARE BAWARE DONT COME HERE

Don't stay! The parking lot is full of people hanging around all night doing who knows what. We were afraid to walk out to our vehicle after dark as it looked like there were drug sales going on. Our room was filled with roaches and the bed felt like you were sleeping on rocks. Our towels smelled like cigarettes and old frying grease.better drive by this place and stay somewhere else.

Do not let these pictures fool you. Nothing that you see here is what you get when you get there. Walls are stained, sheets/comforters stained with burnt holes in them. Ac unit super dusty. Bathroom is a joke, super dirty, bugs all over the place. In general a prison rooms is spotless cleans compared to this hotel.

If you want to get into drug making, dealing or pimping or human trafficking this the hotel for you!! Tampa Police do not secure this area, you're safe for all your underground enterprise needs here!! If you're normal people like us or have children, DO NOT stay here. Checked out less than an hour there, couldn't sleep, the deciding factor was pounding on the door and people smoking crack literally in the the public and obvious drug transactions. Not safe for normal people. Paradise for criminals!! Rooms aren't even fit for a inmate. If OSHA visited this hotel, they would shut it down. If police raided this hotel, they would need two full sized busses

Bed bugs came home from this hotel. I checked out less than an hour after finding bed bugs on the mattress. Spend almost 6 months of removing these bugs from my furniture closet towels and rugs. My kids and I were terrorized by these bugs. And the hotel tales no responsibility. Pretty horrific experience.

Let’s start by saying I thought I was receiving shelter from hurricane Idalia. My mother is 80 and unfortunately unknowingly I subjected her to a horrible experience. The room was filthy, roach 🪳 infested and we even killed a gecko 🦎 on the first night. A giant red ant 🐜 was on my moms bed and screaming Bebe kids running outside the door along with drug transactions during the day. Keep in mind we only stayed for shelter from the hurricane. We would’ve been better off taking our chances outside in the storm. Honestly it was the worse hotel experience of my life. The government needs to come in and condemn this place Asap. They should also only be charging 22 dollars a night for the sleazy dirty conditions. Oh did I mention the towels were filthy and the owners got upset when we asked for new ones. We never got undressed and half slept on top of the so called blankets. Lesson learned! They false advertised their services and rooms. I felt like I was on an episode of the first 48!!!! Never ever again! I’ll sleep in my truck first. Sorry mom!

Be cautious when renting a room here. The location is really the only good part. The rooms are dirty, we put our own sheets and blankets on the beds because the sheets and blankets were ripped and stained. The room had mild around the sprinkler on the ceiling and there was something sticky all over the nightstand. The Waffle House next door is really good. The front desk guy who checked us in was nice.

This was the worst stay. The heat didn’t work and it was a time it was very cold. I went to call front desk yet no phone. The towels had black stains on it and the valves in shower was backwards so hot was cold and vice versa. The walls were cracked and very old furniture. Had finally front desk guy come up with new towels and told me the heat was that way and valves were backwards in shower. He was very nice. Next day manager said he could do nothing. This hotel should not be on Choice Privilege’s site at all. It is a seedy motel. I randomly booked it as I just got off a late flight thru Choice hotels. Pass up this slum.

This place should definitely not be in business, imagine paying so much a night to find out that the room you booked is completely trashed and infested with roaches… the rooms look like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks, and everything in the room is broken, no wifi and it stinks. Here are the pictures of how bad this place is and it is worst in person.

As a choice member, I was very unsatisfied, first room I got the ac/heater did not work and the sheets haven't been changed had hair & dirt in the bed, 2nd room was even worse also had blood stains in the sheets, and the toilet seat was broken and the toilet wasn't bolted down over all the room was trash, I didn't even want to get under the covers, consider just staying in my pickup but the room was warmer considering the ac/heater still did not work in this room either, also was approach 3 times by the same crackhead asking for money and if I could send him money on cash app & every time I said no he still approach me like a volture. Once when I pulled up, once when I changed rooms and once on my way to waffle House. I wouldn't recommend staying here, there's a red roof inn just down the road for couple bucks more it's worth it.

Absolutely disgusting. Trash in the room from previous guests, smoke detector removed, dirty sink and shower, pool is completely unkept, wires hanging from the ceiling in the elevator. Checked out immediately. Please do not come here

I paid $86 for 1 night in this hotel. For 1. There was a dirty rag left in the bathroom hanging on the shower and a half eaten cookie in the fridge. For 2. When I told the morning staff the woman could care less about these issues. And for 3. The people here are so sketchy. so what exactly did I pay for? A nasty room with people who didn’t care and bad internet. I could’ve went to a way nicer place for less which is what I’m doing tonight. I recommend Airbnb for anyone thinking of staying here. Just don’t

Room has a terrible smell and there are holes in the dirty walls. Bathroom is filthy in the shower area and under the rims of the toilet is black like it has never been clean. The place is simple nasty and could do with a major makeover and upgrade.

One of the nastiest hotels I have ever stayed in. The bedsheets had stains on them, the mirrors never looked to be cleaned and the floor was nasty, their was mold in the toilet bowl and the lamps had rust on them. Oh and we booked a non smoking room. We'll that non smoking room was next to a smoking room with a door that goes between the rooms and could smell smoke all the time. Will definitely not stay here again in I am in the Tampa area again.

This place is absolutely horrible. The air conditioner was in terrible condition. The floors looked as though they had been cleaned in months. The property was very shady. It looked liked some people lived there full time and they looked very suspicious. We had to change rooms when we got there. We booked with Hotels.com and I think they should be aware of the conditions of hotels they put on their site. The lock on the door looked questionable. The pool was closed and only filled half way. DON’T STAY THERE!!!!!

Pictures are nothing like they show. Room had mold in shower above beds. Bed sheets where stained and ripped. Dirty towel stuck to floor behind door. Toilet paper holder feel out of wall as it wasn’t attached, toilet loose from floor, toilet paper holding tv on wall. Then it’s “non-smoking” hotel and housekeeping was smoking a cigarette while cleaning the room he even came to offer to clean our room with a cigarette in his mouth. Pool isn’t open like it says, grounds had broken glass all over the stairs and parking lot. Almost every body standing around outside was smoking marijauana that’s all you smell even in the room. We had to ask for towels there was none in room, then they locked us out room stating stay was over and I paid for 3 nights 4 days and it was only the second night. Horrible hotel don’t recommend even for how cheap the price is.

Horrific place!! I'm surprised the proper authorities haven't shut them down. So filthy & everything is broken down. I'd rather have stayed in my car overnight. I guess I should've been more aware of the sign outdoor that gives you 15 minutes to cancel the room. ATROCIOUS!!!!!!

Place need update, my room had no fire alarm Mold on the ceiling, dirty mattress.and burnt up blankets. Floor looks like it's never been mopped. The walls are in need of paint very dirty. Overall, the worst place I've ever stayed.

It was the absolute worst experience ever! Wasn’t even there for 15 minutes, The staff was very rude and upset with me and my party because we requested a new room, after 3 times of relocating from one dirty room to another I just requested a refund literally cobwebs everywhere mold and cigarette burns on the mattress not to mention how DIRTY & DISGUSTING the bedding was! Holes in the walls and doors, ac unit was soo dirty just filtering mold and the rooms stink something terrible. the front staff manager told me he had to look and see and then after seeing them stated it the rooms were already used and was gonna issue a refund which he still gave me a problem with so I called the hire ups and they tried compensating me via choice points and I am very disappointed and dissatisfied I wouldn’t recommend this place to a homeless man! Zero stars! Don’t waste your time or money!

We booked this place because it was close to the airport. We flew in late and just needed a place to rest so we could hit the road bright and early the next morning. The first indication this place is a dive is the warning sign posted at check-in: you only have ten minutes after check in to get a refund. Well, I never saw that before but learned why. The place is run down, filthy, and seriously sketchy. Trash was discarded all over. The room was vile. Opened the door then turned on the lights and bugs went scurrying. The room smelled like an ashtray. The sheets were dirty. My companion swears there were DNA samples on the bedspread. The a/c was the only good thing. We tried to grin and bear it, but heard two distinct gun shots in the vicinity during the 4:00 am hour. After I got about a two hour nap, thanks to pure exhaustion, we picked up and got out of there. We have been to other Rodeway Inns, but this was the worst, by far.

i booked a visit for 2 nights for my family & i to evacuate from the hurricane that just hit us. if i could give this review 0 stars i would! firstly the place was NOT SAFE for my newborn son because the room reeked of cigarettes! i booked a non-smoking room. second the room had a huge hole in the wall, there was some roaches by our bed, the bathroom door knob was broken, the most thing i am very upset about is the freezer/refrigerator did not work properly and all my frozen breastmilk defrosted and went to waste!!!! all my hard work to pump breastmilk for my newborn to eat went to complete waste! the air conditioning wasn’t working right and when we told the man up front he did not care whatsoever. we only stayed one night because we eventually got to kill the smell out hours later and because we had nowhere else to go for safety from the hurricane. we was promised a refund for one night but they only paid me $30 back when i paid more for the room! i should’ve gotten a full refund back because this place was just terrible. online there was beautiful pictures of the hotel and i thought we’d have a pleasant stay but when we arrived the hotel looked so ghetto! there was people everywhere on site smoking marijuana and cigarettes taking up all the space from the stairs, went to use the elevator and that also reeked of cigarette smoke! do yourself a favor and NEVERRRR EVERRRR BOOK THIS HOTEL!

I can't remember the last time I stayed at a Rodeway, but are they this bad??? The reason I stayed here was the fact of it's location and the fact that they have tractor trailer parking. The truckstop across the street was completely full and I had to pick-up down the street in the morning. Anyhow, rate was reasonable...beyond that the room itself was NOT worth the money. Rooms was supposed to be NON SMOKING, walked in and you can smell the smoke. There were cigarette burns in the sheets. The smoke detector was missing off the wall. There was paint damage on the doors, walls, and tables. The roller for the toilet paper holder was also missing. No phone in the room to contact the front desk or ask for a wake up call. I went down to the front desk clerk to let her know about the missing items and she seemed like she didn't care one bit what so ever. This is supposed to be a Choice Hotels property, but how does this place meet their standards and for them to endorse this Rodeway...complete disappointment. For those asking why I didn't just ask for a refund and leave...I missed their very small sign that reads NO REFUNDS after 15 minutes from check in time. Figure that you drive in find a place to park, pack your bag to come to the room and walk upstairs...well there went my 15 minutes.

Room was dirty. But once I cleaned it myself. It was ok. No bugs so that was great. Had old furniture. Was expecting a whole lot more for a Choice Hotel. I have a corporate account as I travel for business. Definitely not fancy and too pricey for the condition. Staff was ok and gave you whatever you asked for.

  • 1/5 Ana W. 1 year ago on Google
Worst place I have even stayed at! The room was dirty. Spiderwebs on the ceiling, all faucets were loose and breaking off. The ceiling was patched up. Worst of all was the bed. We couldn’t use the pillows because they were so old and smelled so bad. The sheets looked dirty and there was no comforter. They had small roaches coming out of the sink too! Please don’t stay at this place!

  • 1/5 Cele 1 year ago on Google
Photos self-explanatory. Mystery substances on the bed. A request for a non-smoking room was made, but that hole in the blanket is obviously a burn mark and the room's smell didn't support the non-smoking claim. I can't hold it against them that I haven't gotten my money back since I booked online through a service, but I can steer you away from this place. Rough as hell, felt unsafe. Avoid it.

As a Choice Member; I’d definitely like to say…. This hotel needs to be condemned. The Rodeway near Ybor I’d rate better than here. First off, when you first get here and see trucks… you already know what to expect. That wasn’t a bother. It’s the many thugs and crackheads/baseheads that are out there on ONE SIDE of the hotel. And they were standing by my room, watching every move I made. I entered my room with children and saw nothing but a couple roommates (roaches) scurrying across the baseboards by the beds. Quickly took advantage of that 15 minute grace period to swap rooms. The hotel receptionist was very understanding in this regard. Next room I got you could tell was cleaner. This side was quieter. Only thing that concerned me was the bedding and the open a/c unit; revealing the condenser etc. As this is an old building, the cracking of walls etc definitely needs addressing. Definitely kept videos and photos of this. Only here because I’m a service member and awaiting final details on my home. I happen to have been drained this day and chose Fairgrounds Rodeway instead of my usual. I think Choice should remove this hotel from its catalog until the fix this hell hole. I’ll tolerate the Ybor location. Though I feel like they half a** clean, I have comfort knowing I can just wipe a couple door handles and sanitize the toilets myself than what I’d have to do in these rooms here.

THIS Was the nastiest place there are not any smoke alarm or phone. The beds were not clean. I even went down to get someone to change the sheets and the night shift person. TOLD ME I NOT AT A 4STAR and if I want the bed changes. Here are the sheet. Why yes I took then I would never stay there. And say beware of you do. This is a 0 for cleaning 0 for all others. NASTY. The only reason I stay is because I booked thought Priceline and they would not give my money back. Yea I should have but I sleep with 1 eye open never again.
