Please read this before booking! Vacationer beware! This was our first day to start off our family vacation. After driving 9 hours we arrived at the Hyatt and from the beginning...checking in was confusing. You have several entrances and you really don't know which one to use. We finally made our way over to the right entrance and was greeted by the Valet. The man had such a bad attitude he screamed at us to circle around again. My husband ended up dropping me off so I could check our family in. Upon arriving we found out on our own that one of the pools are being remodeled. This was never posted on the website before booking. So if you want to swim you have to walk almost 1/2 a mile through the trees and make sure you don't get ate up by the mosquitoes. The pool on the other side of the hotel is small and is not big enough to accompany so many guests that were swimming. We decided to give up on the pool (we booked specifically for the pool). We walk the 1/2 mile back to our room to only realize that the AC is not working properly. We had lowered it before the long walk to the pool. We decided maybe it needed more time to cool down so we went down to 1832 to get something to eat. We paid $79.90 for 4 mediocre hamburgers. After dinner we went back to our room only to find it was still a sweat shop. What a overpriced hotel. I spent $324 to stay one night here. I couldn't feel more scammed. I work hard for my money and I don't have high expectations I just want things to work and a heads up about construction. If I would of known I would never have booked here. The pool looks like it is going to take several months to finish so I would definitely not book here if you are booking for the pool! I will never return to this establishment it was all a waste of my hard earned money!

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, and I feel compelled to share my frustration. My stay at this hotel was marred by multiple issues, starting with the closure of the pool, which was a major disappointment. I had looked forward to relaxing by the poolside and enjoying some leisure time, but to my dismay, it was off-limits during my entire stay. Adding to my displeasure, the customer service at this hotel was nothing short of abysmal. When I called the front desk to inquire about changing my reservation to a different night to possibly enjoy the pool, I was met with an appalling lack of willingness to help. The representative I spoke to seemed disinterested and unempathetic to my situation. Instead of trying to find a solution or offering any alternative options, I was rudely dismissed and treated as if my request was a mere inconvenience. To make matters worse, I was unexpectedly hung up on by the representative during our call, leaving me feeling frustrated and disrespected as a guest. The blatant lack of professionalism and courtesy from the hotel staff was truly astounding and completely unacceptable for an establishment that claims to be a "Grand" Hyatt. Throughout my stay, I couldn't help but feel like a burden rather than a valued guest. The overall experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and I cannot recommend the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay to anyone looking for a pleasant and accommodating hotel stay. With so many other options available in the area, I strongly suggest considering alternative accommodations where your needs and comfort are genuinely prioritized. This was undoubtedly one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had, and I am deeply disappointed in the lack of care and consideration exhibited by the staff at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.

My recent stay at the Grand Hyatt was absolutely fantastic. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and valued. The room was immaculate, with breathtaking views, and every detail was meticulously attended to. The customer service was unparalleled, and the amenities provided exceeded my expectations. I can't recommend the Grand Hyatt highly enough for anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay. Thank you to the entire team for making my experience exceptional!

I stayed three nights and felt very comfortable during my stay. I feel like this is a great hotel. The staff here was very helpful and friendly. The front desk was extremely accommodating and responsive to any request. I ate at the restaurant for breakfast, had the yogurt parfait and waffles and it was great. Went again for dinner another night and we got Greek salad and fish sandwich and it was good too. The hotel grounds are well kept and it is easy to get to from the highway. I swam in the pool and it was very nice. So overall it is great!

First time here and loved the hotel. Easy self parking and check in. Room over looking the bay lovely. Nice nature walk. Easy in and out when traveling in the area. Pool was closed for renovation which would upset people however this was told at booking. I would definitely stay here again! Loved the motion lights under the bed, genius.

Great location and a clean room. However you can hear the noise of planes often as it’s next to the airport. The rooms are also dated and could used some new decor but other than that they are clean and fine. And the bathroom shower was also dated and needs to be replaced. Breakfast was good could have more options but it was good nonetheless. Good hotel but needs improvement considering it’s crazy price tag.

I don’t know where others are staying but one of the pools is destroyed and you have to walk damn near to another hotel to use the pool! The air conditioner in the room wouldn’t go below 72 degrees and it was hot all day and night and we were supposed to have 2 queen beds and got 2 double beds! Would never stay here again, I’ve stayed in holiday inns that were more accurate about their property.

We had a fabulous stay at this beautiful hotel. The Casitas suites are really nice, well-maintained and located next to a beautiful natural preserve. The boardwalk to the main building is very nice. Staff at reception are very friendly and happy to help with requests. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Staff at the restaurant very courteous and patient, especially with kids. Overall a very relaxing stay.

To start: I got an alert on my Hyatt app that my room was ready well before the check-in time, which was a nice surprise bc our flight was early. arrived at the hotel parked got our bags out and was told at front desk your room is not ready. what!?! I showed her the update on app but still nothing no room ready. she offered to downgrade me to double room and a room would be ready. do not expect a queen size bed double room. it's hardly a full size bed, called front desk to ask for a swap this small bed was not going to work and they refused to fix, went as far as saying the manager said when she offered the double she warned us room could not be changed if we accepted, that was never said, not that I was ever e pecting I would need to change the room. whatever! I enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hyatt, only because much of our plans had not much to do with staying at hotel. The main pool was closed, the second pool was a hefty walk, you worked up a sweat in florida heat before you arrive, we tried it out, and it was nothing special for such a big hotel. All in all, we are glad we were only here 3 days. the second leg of Trip was down in Sarasota at the Hyatt Regency and they made up for all the mediocre experience at the Grand.

Pros - World Class Service dad expected for Grand Hyatt. Spacious rooms, corner suites are great! Very nice gym! Cons- Stiff parking cost, right next to airport, so airport noise all day. Main pool closed for renovations for Summer 2023. Smaller pool can be crowded easily.

Nice hotel, showing a bit too much wear which I feel like wouldn't take too much effort to refurbish but the hotel apparently has not. Strange, Considering the price and the brand. The only other issue is the location is a little difficult to get to only because it is a bit circuitous and winding to actually get over to the hotel. Even though it appears to be directly off the highway. It's not. Other than that Very nice grounds and the staff were very helpful.

The hotel is definitely getting on its feet again and the meals in the hotel restaurant were good. You have to get a very early reservation at Oystercatchers though and I mean days in advance. It's not located well and I would advise that if you are wanting to get out to get dinner then you have to plan because there is nothing around them. This place is like it's own city 😊. Definitely a great mangrove walk etc. It's quiet and clean and the staff was very good.

Room 339. Smelled like old cigarettes, it was a none smoking room. The shower handle broken, couldn’t adjust water temperature. The ac didn’t cool, had to wait for a fan. The lighting was horrible. The hotel is nice but the room was not worth the money. Nice bar. Nice staff.

Staying here was a wonderful experience! I had my wedding here and everyone was super nice and accomplished every step of the way. It was a truly pleasurable experience. We booked several of the casitas for the wedding weekend and it was perfect! The rooms were clean and in great condition. The beds were so comfortable. The main hotel is beautiful! We ate at the hotel for breakfast and it was impressive, Totally worth checking out!

Very nice hotel. Loved the nature walk.. Breakfast eggs, bacon and blueberry pancakes were excellent. Waitress was outstanding. Only room issue was that the tub valve/plumbing did not work properly and there was mold around the tub/shower.

Very nice upscale venue. Expansive grounds for a nice walk with an above average restaurant on the grounds. The road in and out is not typical and a bit confusing on day one, but the more travelled the easier to negotiate. Staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Interior was clean and neat as were the rooms. Room was spacious and bed firm and comfortable. Room had ample seating (sofa +3 chairs) to accommodate visiting guests. Our traveling companions were not so lucky with only one chair. A call to the front desk resulted in another chair delivered to the room 10 minutes later.

Based on the reviews we were expecting a lovely stay. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The hotel was clean and conveniently located close to the airport. Unfortunately the hidden fees we received on our bill, will be the reason we never return. We booked the room and breakfast package. On the conformation is states, daily breakfast for all registered guests. We were shocked to notice we were charged an additional $70 for breakfast. When we reached out to customer service, they offered us nothing other than points for the inconvenience. When you pay extra for a breakfast package and get charged additionally, it’s really disappointing. You will also pay a destination fee, which is also a money grab if you are only staying before a flight. Beware of this hotel.

Had a 3 night staycation here at the beginning of December. On arrival we were greeted by a helpful valet and directed to the front desk for check in. I believe the team member at the front desk was under training and eventually did the right things but didn’t really seem like she wanted to be there and didn’t smile or I think even make eye contact. The room was spacious and clean and despite being a points stay and having booked the most basic room we were placed on a higher floor with a view of the runway for TIA which was nice. I always go in to reward stays with low expectations as the hotels don’t owe you anything and I’m kind of a plane nerd so I was happy with that and wasn’t expecting a nice view of the bay. Room was serviced daily we received extra pillows when requested and everything was restocked. We did grab a quick dinner in the bar one night. Service was a little slow, we didn’t get refills, the tonic was off in my G&T, when I could finally find the server again, he said the syrup mix was out and did eventually replace it but didn’t apologize and I sat for a good 10 mins with no drink. There was an error on the food order too but by this point we just wanted to eat and leave. Food was very average bar food, not awful but not hotel quality either. All first world problems but things that wouldn’t take much to tweak to really wow customers. The lobby and public areas were decorated beautifully for Christmas and kept clean. Overall a solid stay.

My husband and I came up for a concert and stayed here. The hotel is beautiful! I wouldn’t have guessed this hotel was built in 86. It is very well maintained. The service is phenomenal. We had the best conversation with Christina and she even made a point to come up and ask us how our evening was when we were eating breakfast. The customer service she provided made us want to visit again. The valet and front desk are so pleasant and really make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Thanks for a great visit!

The experience at this hotel is always very good. The rooms have all been recently updated so they are modern, very clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of the bay. The breakfast buffet has many choices and the little shop attached to the hotel is helpful and convenient. The pool area and the nature walkway are very nice but could be cleaned up more. Would always be happy to return to this hotel.

Adding on to some of the other reviews to brag on a great hospitality experience! First, I always eat leftovers of a good meal. One day we asked if they would be able to warm up our leftovers. They said no but instead had a microwave delivered to our room, where someone set it up for us and left it for the remainder of our stay. Another evening we sat to dinner and I noticed a leftover piece of pizza under the table. A bit annoying but hey, it's a public space so I ignored it. At some point a host walked up with "excuse me! I just noticed a piece of pizza there under your table" and took care of it. I thought this was thoughtful, as it wasn't obvious and he very well didn't have to go that extra step. All staff i encountered was warm and welcoming. Overall great stay! I wouldn't recommend for families with kids as there isn't much for them to do. Most guests were here for conferences so it had more of a business feel. Didn't bother me though, just probably worth mentioning! Location was great in relation to the airport. Didn't hear any planes at all (another review mentioned this). The boardwalk to the second pool was peaceful and provided a great place to take a nap in a hammock or the cabana. I'd recommend if you need to be in town for a productive visit but want a bit of relaxation on your stay!

The hotel is close to the airport, right on the bay, and easily accessible to hyde park/yborg areas. The 1823 restaurant has excellent food. There are 2 pools and kayak/bike rentals. Would definitely stay here again.

Spoke to Tamara to book a room for a special occasion. She was absolutely awesome. Very hospitable and went over and beyond to make sure we knew all of the bells and whistles Grand Hyatt has to offer. Customer service was excellent.

My work hosted a conference here and it was really excellent. All of the staff were so nice and so accommodating. The pool right outside the main building was closed but this was noted in multiple places and caused no issues. The second pool was a bit small but very nice and had a small bar and shady places to rest. The nature trail was great for morning walks each day.

I had a very bad experience with this hotel. I decided to stay for one night to take advantage of a special rate of $199 per night for ngy an employee of the Bayport building. I spoke with one young male at the receptionist and asked him if he could grant the special rate. He checked and told me that the best he could do was $230 because I was a walk-in. I accepted and stayed for the night. At checked out, the bill was $401.80. My husband confronted the same man at the reception, and he lied in his face. He said he only gave a parking discount… when I even had free parking for being an employee of the building. Then, I called and spoke with someone from the hotel who assured me that I was going to get a refund. As of today, I have not received my money back..this is very unfortunate, and would never stay in this hotel.

Our car was acting up, and I pulled off the exit to the Grand Hyatt. The engine caught on fire, and Tampa's finest drove Hubby and I to the hotel afterward so we could cool off. Folks were very kind and let us stay until family members could come pick us up. I would recommend telling the city to put a name on the street exit, because the fire department insisted that all exits have street names. It does. It's called "Exit."

The rooms are ok, view is good if you get the bay side. I knew there may be an issue as we arrived and a man that appeared to work there walked in before me. He allowed the door to shut right on me although I was carrying 2 suitcases. As I thought to myself “I wonder if he works here,” sure enough he went straight to the front desk to check us in. Big red flag from this tall African American male who obviously hasn’t been trained on guest services as of yet. But I was still hopeful. We found room service was non-existent. They didn’t answer their phone one time while I was here over a five day stay! . On the last day they told me I could order from the tv. Would have been nice to know. Pool is closed at the hotel and wasn’t being worked on one time. You walk about 15 minutes to the usable pool. Best part of our stay was Sam , the bartender at the pool. He treated every guest like royalty. Seems he’s the only person at the Hyatt with guest experience training. The stay was sorely disappointing and we will not return here.

The bay view from our room was absolutely stunning! The room was quiet and cozy. We enjoyed the sunset at its fullest while dining at their famous restaurant, Oystercatcher. One of the pools was unfortunately under construction (which was noted before we booked); however, we were taken to the nearby pool in a van procured by the hotel. Returning from the pool tho, took longer than expected, due to an inconvenient wait time for an available trolley to drive us back to the hotel. We waited around 45 minutes under the burning sun and the Florida heat, not fun whatsoever. Customer service was excellent as usual. Overall experience was positive.

My husband and I came to Tampa for his birthday weekend. Let me start off by saying that the staff is amazing. Riley and another young lady at the front desk were very kind and helpful. Our room was clean and spacious. The location was so convenient and it made it easy to hope on the interstate. My only issue is that the room did not have a microwave, but we did have a refrigerator. That is the only reason I did not rate 5 stars. Overall, when we are back in Tampa we will be staying again.

The pool is totally broken with no signs of being fixed soon. I don't understand why they charge. Resort fee for the pool when it's broken. Definitely bait and switch. At least offer free room upgrade or something to compensate or a drink voucher or something. It's 100% misleading to not let people know ahead of time the pool is out of service. Other than that my stay was great. I had a room over looking the bay and the you guessed it pool. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Globalist here. Nice rooms, great views, restaurants were very good. Breakfast buffet was very good as well. I like that the elevators return to the ground floor and remain open until a passenger enters and selects a floor. No waiting! Nice gift shop with a variety of things. Fitness center was nice too. Will return!

The inside of the hotel is very nice and the staff very accommodating and both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was pretty good. However, the hotel is listed as a resort but you can't do anything outside because it is without exaggeration a stones throw from the airport. The noise is intolerable. How are you supposed to enjoy yourself at the pool (which is the size of a bathtub) when you can literally tell the color of the pilots eyes as he's taking off in a 747. As a loyal Hyatt Globalist I hate to knock the brand but you need to know that the location of this hotel is just terrible.

Impeccable service from check in to amazing bartenders. The service at the restaurant at the towers as well as at Oyster Catcher's was also exceptional. We were here for 5 days for a long multicultural wedding each day was amazing.

I arrived last night at 11pm. Half the electricity and lights in my room were out. My phone was also out. Then, in the morning, I tried using the iron and it leaked out water all over my shirt and the ironing board. Tonight, my group had 50+ people at the bar but regardless, they shut everything down at 11pm. They have no agility, flexibility nor desire to provide a good customer experience. They do what they do here as if policy is all that counts and nothing else matters. It's as if they think our group of 200÷ has no other options other than the terrible amenities and service that they provide. Wrong! We deserve better than this inflexible, uncaring resort. This resort is a wonderful reminder of a business unconcerned with providing great customer care.

I normally do not leave reviews, but they have some things to work on. NO HOT WATER....... "I love cold showers," said no one ever..... have you ever made your 7 year old child take a freezing cold shower? He froze his but off and may have screamed a few times. Hopefully, the front desk didn't get a noise complaint. The maintenance guy gave me a lame excuse that to many people were taking showers. It's not like they have a hot line you can call and ask when hot water will be available. If there was an exhaust fan in the bathroom, it did not work. No parking for bigger trucks. The uncovered parking lot had a ginormous tent set up right in the middle of the parking lot taking up all parking close to the hotel. Had to park in back of parking lot and walk a long distance in the rain which was not to pleasant since the entire parking lot had probably a 1 1/2" of water standing which completely soaked our feet to the socks.

I checked in today to the Hyatt hotel. Tamara and Laura assisted me with checking in. They were absolutely fantastic. Awesome attitudes and very quick and easy check-in. They also gave some great recommendations for food and activities. 100% I would come back again. Thank you both for the fantastic service!

Great hotel, our room was supposed to have a walk in shower but it was only a slightly modified tub. The beds are firm but the linens and pillows need more luxury feel to them. Rooms at this rate and prestige should have luxurious linens and pillows. The pool and outside bar are small out dated and have no view of the beautiful water behind the mangroves. Bring your bug spray as that pool area does get biting insects. Not a fan of the destination fees but I do get it there are some resort style amenities Ike rental bikes. Over all 4/5 just a dated out door area and some improvement on the linens for better more luxurious sleep. Still a good quit stay

Room was clean and large, but smelled musty (I think that's a given here in Florida). It had a beautiful view of the water. Nice, large lounge area with lots of seating groupings and options. Pool was very cold but had comfortable chase lounges, large towels, and several umbrellas if you want shade. Restaurant was tasty and not as crazy expensive as most hotel restaurants. Bar was well manned but expensive.

My husband booked this hotel for me and my daughters for prom weekend in Tampa, I have to say I was not pleased at all. The jacuzzi was cold the fire pits did not work I had ants on my dresser which then led to them being in my purse and on top of that 2 of the lamps did not work in my room. The only good thing about this hotel was my view! Cannot believe I paid $340 for one night to be unsatisfied.

The hotel was great! Great views of the bay, bartenders, food, staff, amenities etc. What really stood out was our service from Jessica. She was located at the concierge desk and was quick to check in my friend and I when we walked in. She was super friendly, very helpful and took her time to ensure we had a great stay in Tampa. She gave us the best recommendations to food, fun and leisure activities. As an owner of a multi million dollar plumbing and HVAC home services business, a constant struggle of ours is finding great employees that want to make a positive difference and are willing to go above and beyond for the client. Jessica if you ever want to relocate to the Boston area, let me know I will personally hire you in a second! lol

The Grand Hyatt offers a wildlife walking path and dock which is a nice attraction to the site. The hotel is very nice and updated and has a restaurant in the lobby area that has some decent food. During my entire stay I had a pleasant experience with everyone on the staff. This hotel is walking distance to one restaurant but driving is necessary to access more options. The wildlife path leads to a dock pavilion but there is not a beach access at this location you will have to travel to another location to access the water.

Stayed there for a conference. Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast and lunch was delicious. Lots of nature/wildlife for those that like to walk around, especially in the morning. Our room was on the 11th floor facing the bay and the view was spectacular. The pool is small and was crowded, but other than that, a great place to stay.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for the first time during the end of October. We had a wonderful time. Beautiful atmosphere, stellar service (very friendly/helpful staff), great food and comfy beds. We booked the Kings Bay room (highly recommend). Walking up to the bay every morning is breathtaking! We loved eating at Oyster Catchers! I tried West Coast oysters for my first time. So good! Their breakfast buffet is All-Star with good selections. Customized omelettes upon request. We really enjoyed our stay. The only complaint is that they didn’t have shuttle service to the airport.

Nice location away from the hustle of Tampa. Convenient to major highway. Plenty of parking available. Has a trail by the bay and a walkway into Tampa Bay and Rocky Point. Room and bathroom was roomy and clean. Room #549 was a corner room at the end of the hallway. Quiet room. No complimentary breakfast although several restaurants were on-site. 24/hour gym with sauna. Sufficient cardio machines and dumbbells. Towels and lockers are available. The front staff was efficient and friendly. I've been to this location many times and will return again.

Came to Tampa from Canada last minute and booked this hotel without knowing too much about it. When we arrived we were presently surprised… location was superb, the rooms were super clean and modern, the bar and staff plus food was excellent and the two pools were great. We opted for a Bayview room and were not disappointed. Will definitely come back here and recommend.

Stayed here for the weekend as we were seeing a concert at Raymond James. Service was great, rooms clean we stayed at the casitas in the back of the hotel near the pool and bay area. Perfect little bungalows and short walk to the pool. Bartender Becca was friendly and made great drinks. Food from the oyster place was delicious. Beautiful grounds and great location would definitely come back here again.

I love the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay! We went for a family vacation and had a wonderful time! We checked in late because we had spent the day at the beach. Lindsey and Luana were true professionals! There was a man yelling and threatening them, as I waited for my turn to check in, and they maintain their composure. They were complete professionals! When it was my turn to check in, Lindsey apologize for my inconvenience and even gave us a complimentary meal. She explained the hotel in great details from the restaurant times to late check out. The whole staff was great…Carl helped us with the handicap parking, Steve helped us at the pool, and the golf cart drivers were very friendly! Thank you for your amazing service! We appreciate everything you did to make our stay so memorable. We will be back!

Overall I'm glad we stayed in this hotel while first visiting the Tampa area. It was well maintained, clean, with a friendly staff and a great view of the bay. The fitness club was nice and well kept, any time we needed additional items for our room it was delivered quickly, and any staff we interacted with was friendly. I did take one star off only because getting to and from the hotel during high traffic can be slightly harder due to the exit off the freeway, but it isn't bad.

This place is incredible! Wouldn't need to leave the resort if you didn't want to! We stayed in the Casitas, which are like little private villas. They do not have a view, just a private little patio with large hedges adding privacy. From our room to the main lobby is a bit of a walk, beautiful walk tho! But, it's hot & humid! They have golf carts that they will pick you up from your room & take you anywhere on the property. They do not have an airport shuttle, but it was a $11 Uber ride. It's in a convenient location & nicely tucked away with the best accommodations! There are 2 restaurants on the property, Oystercatches & 1823. We tried both & they were great! The breakfast buffet was surprisingly delicious! However, I did not know that they hold $160 for incidentals & then charge an additional $25/day resort fee... I thought I had already paid that in my package. It wasn't a big deal tho, just didn't know ahead of time.

Wow, very beautiful and upscale hotel. We had a wonderful time, experienced great service, enjoyed awesome food. Both front desk and lobby bar were quite busy and yet they did a great job handling it 👏 Tamara and Lindsay at front desk were very friendly and attentive. Bartender Sel provided an exceptional customer care while handling a big crowd (I thought I could multitask until I saw this guy). Katy from breakfast was our server and she provided us great service. Kudos to the staff for making our experience as a trip to remember 👏 🙌 Jenny

I always get the same room so I can watch the moonrise.. The sunrise and the airplanes come and go. It's right next to the freeway easy access on and off.. And I know what you're thinking right next to the freeway and the airport how could you sleep with all that noise... You hear nothing from the outside only the people in the hallways.. That is at my friends.. This hotel was very well built for the location it is at... Highly recommend But this time there was a little renovation so a nice moon lamp was added to the room as well as a makeup lamp for the bathroom

Nice clean hotel. Beds are as hard as Fred and Wilma Flintstone's bed. DO NOT buy sodas in the convenience store on the first floor. They charge $4.50+tax for a 16 fluid ounce Pepsi. After 7% tax, that's 30 cents for fluid ounce, so you better enjoy that "pop". If you go to a floor with rooms, then they have a Pepsi machine that only charges $3.00. Go figure! Very cool "moon light" table lamp though.

A nice hotel in the Tampa area. Staff was really nice and the rooms were very clean! The couple downsides 1- not connect by sidewalk to anything. Need to Uber if you want to get to anything if you don't have a car. 2- the very small pool was under construction.
