Having spent time as a youth in the deep south on the poor side of the tracks, I know soul food. Mama's has it in spades. Small and unassuming Mama's does a booming takeout business. Call ahead and get your meal to go. Fantastic fried chicken, roasted turkey, collard greens, lima beans, corn on the cob, gizzards and rice with gravy. You order and pay before you sit if dining in. All the food is served in a take-out containers. I just keep going back when nostalgic and want a happy tummy.

This place is awesome!! THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! The jerk chicken was moist and the rice was tender and fluffy. The candy yams were good. My husband had the tilapia and shrimp basket and said his was just as great! We sat in silence because it was so good. I will definitely recommend to everyone!

I ask for liver and onions well done my liver was still pink couldn’t even eat it and the onions wasn’t even cook then the sides was mess up didn’t even notice they gave me bake beans instead of cabbage and it’s says cabbage clear as day on the receipt 🧾 I will never returning this my 2nd time this happen I use to love this place years ago they went down in the last year 😩

Where do I start? The food was horrible we ordered oxtails, smothered chicken, turkey wings and fried chicken. The food and the grease chicken was fried in tasted old! The sides were equally as dissatisfying. The hostess was not welcoming at all... Will never return back to this place! 4 thumbs down

Came from out of town and googled soul food spots. This place came up and I told my wife, the pictures look good let’s try it. Listen!!!!! The food is amazing! Absolutely no complaints. Everyone was friendly and it felt like I was at grandmas house after Sunday morning service.

The young lady who took my order was very polite.. the place seemed cleaned as far as your eyes can see. But... the food is very small portions. I had the fish and shrimp dinner with maybe a scoop and a quarter of rice and gravy... it's rice for crying out loud. The yams are canned.. there's no cinnamon, sugar, glaze... nothing. The Mac and cheese might contain salt from the cheese, but that's all the seasoning you'll find there. The collards were ok, they needed to cook longer. The actual fish and shrimp says market price on menu. Of course, giving the owner the advantage to set whatever price they'd like. 1 filet piece of Walmart tilapia and 6 seapak breaded shrimp. My sweet potato pie also contained the canned yams that were used for the candied yams. My strawberry lemonade was actually good, but contained more ice than lemonade. There's no authenticity to this soul food. I'm starting to think if it's not cooked in your home, then forget about it. I gave 2 stars based on the young lady's customer service.

They have the best turkey wings ever! The prices are fair. You can dine-in or get it to go!

Dropped by this restaurant in 2020 but only picked up a slice of cake. Finally came back tonight and it hit the spot! Don't be fooled by it's exterior, this place is worth the visit especially if you are looking for some southern food. Meals are affordable and come with plenty of food. You can dine in and be sure to check out their specials. Give this black owned small business a chance!

Very disappointed, food is horrible now ! This place food was once good . The Mac and cheese had no flavor. Noodles was over cooked. Green was the worst I’ve ever had in life. Meatloaf was OK ! I won’t be returning here . So disappointing they most definitely need nee cooks .

The food was do distasteful, awful, and uneatable. I threw it in the trash. Simply gave Mama’s a $29.00 donation. My pallet was altered afterwards, I could not remove the nasty taste, I tried chocolate and brushing my tongue to rid me of the taste.

Beyond DISGUSTED! Mac/cheese soggy, greens salty, yams mushy, rice cold, sweet tea tart and I PULLED HAIR OUT OF MY MOUTH eating the oxtails. (I use to recommend this black owned business to everyone but this restaurant is gone down the drain within the last year. Each time is worst then the time before.) OFFICIALLY my last time. Excellent service even without servers. The hostess did a wonderful job especially during the busy lunch hour.

I absolutely love some soul food!!! I choose this place because I really wanted to support and have a good dinner…The dinner I got from here was trash! I literally had to throw the fish that came with my meal in the garbage. I ordered the fish and shrimp dinner with mac and Yams. The sides were delish. The fish tasted old or like it was left out for hours, took one bite started to feel sick, so I trashed it. The shrimp was like someone put it in hot grease for 3 seconds and put it in the container. I had to cook the shrimp in the air fryer. I am going to 5 star everything except the food.

I don’t know about atmosphere… we got delivery… two appetizer orders of gizzards and two of livers and one corn fritter order. Gizzards and Livers were excellent and will order again in future. We literally got 5 ea corn fritters in the appetizer order! Uber wanted me to upload a picture for proof of quantity which in theory is RIDICULOUS so I am forced to explain our displeasure here.

My first time going to Mama’s Soul Food. I got the chicken livers and a side of collard greens. Greens were good Livers were horrible! No Flavor and Burnt. Very disappointed was craving them.

The sweet potato cornbread is the BEST I’ve ever had! The red velvet cake .. superb! The rib platter my husband had was SUPERB! ( Mac n cheese and black eye peas) I LOVE MAMA’s Soul food in Brandon. I will be going back WEEKLY! Keep up the good work!❤️😘

Oh man, great food. Always look for soul/comfort food when traveling. Place didn't disappoint. Fast friendly service. Food was hot and delicious!

Food is good. The collard greens have the pepper spice in it. I know some southerners prefer a smoky meat taste, this place isn't that place. However the greens were good. The Mac and Cheese was excellent! The smothered pork chops were alright. The chops option came with 2 pieces and could use more flavor but the the gravy and rice were very good. The candied yams were good, just don't be deceived because they weren't brown with the sweet sugar, but the flavor was definitely there. There is inside dining and all food is provided in to go boxes.

Everything was Well Seasoned, cooked to perfection, hot and Fresh. The cornbread was a little overcooked but in the middle it was moist and fresh ! See picture !

First time trying food from here. Food was good only thing I didn’t like was the potato salad. Customer service was good and also received my food quickly. Definitely trying again except no potato salad 🙂.

Nice home cooking and wonderful staff. Excellent ambient jazz music playing softly while I dined. The chicken was not overcooked and the portions were just right.

The food had no seasoning what so ever. I ordered white rice without the gravy, bake beans, fried chicken, and macaroni and cheese. Let's just say the rice had no salt in it. The bake beans taste like they poured it, from the can to the plate. And the macaroni and cheese, taste like they used Ms Dash.... for the prices i was expecting to come and eat food somewhat like my grandmother would make. I was very much disappointed.. .
