THE
STORY:
The
first
Blind
Tiger
Cafe
started
at
this
location
in
Ybor
City.
(There
are
six
locations
in
Tampa.)
Owner
Roberto
Torres
and
his
founding
partners
had
a
desire
to
bring
great
roasted
coffee
flavors
back
to
a
city
that
was
known
for
its
historic
richness.
Inspired
by
the
tailored
and
crafted
feel
of
a
speakeasy,
the
founders
wanted
to
start
a
Blind
Tiger
(a
slang
term
for
speakeasy)
of
their
own.
They
wanted
to
sell
quality,
original
roasts
that
were
“so
great
tasting,
it
would
seem
illegal.”
The
Blind
Tiger
is
“a
speakeasy-inspired
lifestyle
brand
for
those
who
desire
quality
and
richness
in
the
small
pleasures
of
life.”
SUGGESTED
ORDER:
I
love
the
cold
brew.
PRO
TIP:
There’s
a
hidden
menu
item
you
might
consider:
The
Bee
Sting
—
Almond
milk.
Honey.
Turmeric
ginger
tea.
Delicious.
IN
THE
NEIGHBORHOOD:
Columbia
Restaurant,
the
oldest
restaurant
in
Florida
is
two
blocks
east.
(Great
curbside
takeout,
btw.)
across
7th
Avenue,
Zydeco
Brewing
makes
great
craft
beers
and
has
a
fun
menu.
Chill
Bros.
Ice
Cream
a
few
doors
over
has
awesome
sweet
treats.
And
one
of
the
oddest
places
in
Tampa,
Dysfunctional
Grace,
is
next
door
to
Blind
Tiger.
Tagline:
“The
only
shop
in
Ybor
where
death
and dysfunction dance
in
a
graceful
ballet.”
