Crisis Center of Tampa Bay

Non profit organization

😠 Maybe make sure your staff who answers our crisis calls don’t seem high. I have never felt worse than when I called this hotline at my most desperate moment, just to feel like I was speaking to someone who just finished smoking weed or doing heroin. I broke down and NEEDED this service and it truly... People often mention crisis, center, time, appointment,

Maybe make sure your staff who answers our crisis calls don’t seem high. I have never felt worse than when I called this hotline at my most desperate moment, just to feel like I was speaking to someone who just finished smoking weed or doing heroin. I broke down and NEEDED this service and it truly failed me. Now I have NO CLUE who to turn to or what to do....

Guys, if you love your loved ones, avoid this place! My boyfriend was suicidal, and we came to this place on Sunday. We rang the bell and explained what was going on. Sure, they said they would assist us but called the cops instead. The cop came and was shocked because this was a crisis center... And they didn't offer to help and promised us they would come out and never did. It was so upsetting because my boyfriend needed help ASAP, and whoever was on shift did not care.

I wish I had the same positive experiences everyone else is having. That’s what I really needed. The first time I came here was under really unfortunate circumstances but everyone was really nice and efficient and helped me feel better. However I returned for counseling and it’s been a nightmare. I was told to come here early to fill out paperwork. I get here 30 minutes early and let the receptionist know I’m here for an appointment at 1. She acts confused as if appointments and counseling aren’t a thing here. I get no paperwork to fill out so I just sit here for 30 minutes. Then 30 minutes later after tons of people have walked in and out and seen and greeted me, a random woman stops and berates me for not having my badge on. The receptionist had handed it to me with no explanation and I’d had it visibly in my hand the entire time. I’m already here for a sensitive issue so to have to deal with a clueless receptionist looking at me like I’m an idiot, then a random woman berating me over a badge (like obviously I’m here waiting for an appointment) has already brought me close to tears, and I haven’t even gotten into mt appointment yet.

I really wanted to volunteer but $86 is too much. I know a background check and fingerprints are important, but I can't pay that. Pretty Disappointed

These individuals do amazing work. All day, every day they provide support to those who are in desperate need. From staffing phones to talk with people who may be considering ending their lives or emergency medical treatment and transportation. Having witnessed their operations in person and heard stories from some of those they have helped, it is truly inspiring. Please keep doing what you do.

How to waste an entire hour? Spend it on hold with Tampa Bay Crisis Center. Then talk for one sentence and be given the, "I have an emergency call, I have to put you on hold." This after the email that based on my phone number, refers me back to Waldo county in Maine. There is a REASON why people are not getting in touch, and it IS NOT because of pride.

This facility helped me everywhere from the 211 staff, to hooking me up with a theralist. The only one who never gave up on me. Angela was amazing and will do great things in lifr. She cares about patients. The entire organization is great and I'm thankful they are in the community

What good is a crisis center that has no availability? Mental Healthcare in FL is the worst.

I see a ton of mixed reviews, but I’ll have to agree with the other people that rated this location poorly :( I was in the area for a specialist doctor appointment and was feeling incredibly mentally unstable due to some really intense life changing stressors that have been going on, I felt uncomfortable driving an hour home feeling this way and I seriously needed somebody in person to be with. I remembered seeing this place on the way to the doctor, so I stopped by. I was motioned to ring the bell, so I did. I told whoever was at the desk that I needed help and she didn’t ask what for, she without a beat just told me that they don’t do walk ins and I’ll need an appointment. She gave me a number to call to make an appointment and sent me away, so I went back to my car and had a panic attack followed by a depression meltdown in the parking lot for an extended period of time before collecting myself to be able to drive home :\ I apologize for not being able to schedule my own mental crisis, I’ll think about it next time :’) honestly what good is a crisis center if you can’t get help in a crisis??? Could have at least asked me what was wrong and referred me someplace else?

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay provides needed resources in our community including suicide prevention services, trauma counseling, and financial resources/services. Anyone dealing with a crisis in Hillsborough County needs to know they do not have to do it alone. Call 2-1-1 if you are facing a crisis. Please don’t suffer alone in silence.

This place will NOT help you in your time of need. Hell, they won’t even acknowledge you when you get there, even if they said they would on the phone. Do NOT bring your loved ones here, this place will not help them. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
