Really bad service. Ok facilities. Stayed there two days for swimming and eating at the restaurant. 1h 40m wait for food- didn’t taste good either. Several days later we booked a night because we travelled through Tanga. Booked at their website, and got a confirmation, but when we showed up, they said all the rooms were full. Ok- everyone does mistakes, but we got no support in finding alternatives, or any apology.

I travelled for work to Tanga City and stayed at Tanga Beach Resort and Spa for nearly a week. The resort (particularly the rooms) are very different from what is shown on their website. The hotel is old and I found my room not well maintained - the water flow from hand shower was all over; water would get filled in the shower area and wouldn't drain soon; the hair blow dryer wouldn't work; the AC wouldn't function properly - it made noises; the water bottles served in the room were from a company called Anjari and these were so tight that it wouldn't open easily; the bathroom was full of black spots and the TV cable remained lose at all times. In short the hotel charges a bomb for a single deluxe room and the services and standard of living is just not what the hotel promises online. It was a huge disappointment!

Big, clean, beautiful rooms with decent views. Ideal to activate a vacation mood. Slow staff service, esp. with food orders.

Service is poor. Waiting for your food (just a main course) for one hour is not uncommon. Once I had to even wait for 80 minutes! Roomservice is as slow as eating in the restaurant. Slow as they are with serving the food, they are eager beavers when it comes to removing your plate and settling the bill. Nothing at Tanga Beach Resort is well maintained. Unlike the nice pictures, the hotel and rooms are worn out. Towels are smelly.... they look clean, but are still full of bacteria. No hotel documentation the room, except for the roomservice and spa menu. Also no laundry bag in the room. Supply of amenities is sparse; they usually 'forget' something. As a guest, you are supposed to ask and arrange all these things. The sunbeds at the poolside are old and cracky. There are only three parasols, all of them old and faulty. There is no airconditioning at the gym; the space is cramped, hot and smelly . Good luck doing your workout in tropical heat: very unhealthy. One positive thing: the bed is very comfortable. Overall impression: highly overrated; no value for money.

Only go here on a Friday and Saturday if you are, or want to become deaf. The music is so loud that on the 5th floor, with all windows shut it sounded like we had a speaker in the room on full volume. It plays till very late (I think 1130pm), so good luck getting sleep before then. The music started at 11 am after a microphone check that lasted 20 minutes The pool has no showers nearby, so people come into the pool and jump in without showering and often people in the pool are wearing t-shirts. Hence, the water is filthy. I swim 3x a week and as soon as I saw the pool, I told my partner it wasn't hygienic. If you want to sit beside the pool and relax, don't bother. The DJ or band will ensure you can't have quiet enjoyment. It would have been at least nice had the band been able to play a bit, but no, they are not. The DJ loved the siren button on his machine for some reason and the backdrop to his set was at one stage tennis highlights which was just odd. The music he played was odd. Sometimes it was Celine Dion, other times some rapper throwing out the b word to describe women. It is also not on the beach with no direct access to it, so how it can call itself a beach resort is beyond me. It's a huge shame as the hotel is fundamentally a nice building and could have made for a lovely relaxing stay. Instead we told our guide to book another place in the future.

It's a nice place for self moments. You can see the beach from a distance but there is no access to the beach. They offer good African food.

The rooms need some maintenance. The live music on Saturday night in the garden was nice. The breakfast was nice. And surprise surprise, despite the name, the hotel has no access to the beach.

There are not many good hotels in Tanga. Ranking based on other options. It’s an ok place, decent restaurant and if you fancy a drink in the evening they have a bar where a lot of people come from the outside for drinks.

The Spa is a Joke! First off - With the name, anyone would expect a beach and they don't have one. For me this was not a problem as I knew in advance. The services were okay. My problem is with their spa. It's a joke! We were planning an easy day as it was our last day in Tanga before we left for home. We needed some Mani Pedis and body scrub for three people. For a place like this advertising a spa, our expectations were very high. However, the lady spent less than ninety minutes doing two pedis and one Mani (all by herself). They were both a joke! I honestly feel like we were ripped off. What she did we could have easily done at home by ourselves. Not worth the price. While we were talking (at the beginning), she told us that people have been complaining about their prices - and when I took my wallet to pay, I completely understood 'those people.' If you want to go for a swim, great. Spa - I wouldn't recommend.

Used a few rooms now and the hotels desperately needs a refurbishment. It may be 3 star but its letting itself go through lack of updates. Pest control also needs highlighting, cockroaches in dining room and bedroom, i had one in the dining room run all over me while l was eating. I wonder what pest control they have in place.

Our family has been living here for 2 months. We have chose a suit of 2 rooms in an old part of the hotel. The rooms and bathroom are very spacious and have windows in wall height. So we could see a sunrise in the ocean every day right from our bed. Plus there was an open terrace with chairs and coffee table. The territory of the inner yard is green and well maintained. It is used for different local holidays, weddings and anniversaries. So, it is used to hear loud music untill 22.00 on weekends. The hotel manager had found for us a solution to spend the night in more quiet rooms during such performance. There is a large swimming pool and a gym with a professional trainer.

Went there for dinner during a business trip. This was easily one of the highlights of my stay in Tanga. Great food, great service and an even better environment. I'd highly recommend anyone visiting Tanga to give this one a try. The menu offers great choices and you won't be disappointed.

Rooms are spacious, and breakfast was perfect. Unfortunately couldn't try swimming pool and other amenities due to short time but will definitely come back

This place a great location, but I was a little disappointed when it comes to the size of their beds. I request a double bed room but I found a tiny bed for two people.

Online photos will give you the impression that the beach is accessible, it is not accessible... There is a mangrove in between the ocean and hotel. The towels they gave me have had it's fair share of usage. Even though they looked clean, I wasn't sure whether to use them because the white colour was almost cream to brown

It Is NOT a beach resort, despite the name (higly misleading name). There is a 300m thick mangrove forest in front of the hotel, covering all the way to the waterline. They have a pool though. The rooms are nice and have a nice view. The service takes a while, so make sure to get some drinks to the table while you wait. The prices are a bit above average for Tanzania.

I am addicted to Swimming, Presence of a Swimming pool makes a perfect place for me to spend my evening. The staffs are unbelieveable, they only need 5 seconds to make you feel part of their family (I loved it).

The services are declining, the hotel was so good back then, nowadays the customer care is very poor, the rooms are smelly and sometimes the table phones are not working in rooms and the AC goes on and off πŸ˜• And the spa is awful and unhygienic

On a huff, we decided to spend Christmas holidays in Tanga away from our regular Diani beach. The road trip was not so fun. The experience at the border clearing was smooth on the Kenyan side but hectic on the TZ side where our transport vehicle was held hostage! After 3 hours of non successful negotiations with the TZ tax man, my partner and l abandoned the vehicle and sought another means. We arrived at the resort and we're checked in seamlessly. Our room, albeit small was comfy and clean. Bathroom beans may need to be replaced with plastic ones that are more rust resistant. Due to the festivities the place was jam packed and pretty noisy. The resident Band played well into the night till 11pm. Thereafter, the DJ music from the bar area vibrated the nightly air. If rest and sleep is your idea of a vacation ..this should not be your first choice. It is basically Noisy! Housekeeping was ok but would collect the bathroom towels during breakfast hour before one has had to take a shower and step out. Looking for them to ask for towel was a source of irritation for yours truly. Their technical team was great and was quick to restore our AC when it stopped working. Kudos to them. Although the resort claims to have a gym..spa et al ...none of that information was given to us at the reception or room. They need to step up the marketing of services available. The Food was reasonably good. The breakfast was Abit monotonous and the cooked bananas for breakfast is a yard much. For me to stay there another time, l would have to confirm the band is on recess 😜
