Pasar Tanah Abang is huge! So big in fact that it is considered to be the largest textile market in South East Asia. But unlike other markets we have visited thus far, Pasar Tanah Abang is more a ‘locals’ market’, frequented by patrons looking for grosir baju murah (cheap wholesale clothing) . We were also advised, hati-hati – take care of yourself and your possessions as pick pocketing is supposedly common.

recommended place to buy modest clothes. i find many stores selling distinctive design. if you are into wearing fashionable modest clothes, I guess you can try this place. but in my experience, one day is not enough to know this place by heart because it is so massive. you tend to be lost here, unless you employ a strategy to remember the blocks, the store numbers, the alleys.

I thought tanah abang market is the cheapest price in indonesia. You can find anything in tanah abang market, crowded place all the time. Enjoy your shopping guys!

This shopping mall is a great place to see textiles and lots of (mostly Muslim oriented) traditional clothing, as well as Western brands if that's what you're looking for... The mall is *huge* and even after two hours, I don't think I saw everything. I bought a batik sarung and some kind of skirt (for my fiancee) and a lightweight backpack. I ended up haggling the price down quite a bit for every purchase. There is an ATM in the front entrance.

It is very recomended for every merchant, up to date collection, lower price for wholesale. But be careful of pickpocket and get ready for a very long take a walk in the market. It's food corner has so many choice of meal yet comfort, and you can pray in a homey mosque at the top floor

The must visit shopping in bulk and/or budget. Some says it is the biggest in South East Asia region -- arguable. Be aware of pick pockets, they are EVERYWHERE AROUND THE CORNER! Best recommendation would be: come by public transport -- parking is very very limited and not secure. And have a local guide to help with price-arguing.

Huge Shopping Center. It was my second time visiting Tanah Abang! The place is nearby to our Ascott Apartment. A really great shopping place for everything you could ask for and please always bargain before you purchase anything.We took grab to pick us up and cost us about IDR20,000. It is advisable to leave the place before 3pm. Otherwise it's difficult to get the grab driver to drove you back to hotel.
