we enjoyed a late lunch today and tried two traditional swahili dishes, both vegan. it was very tasty. very well seasoned, nicely presented and the portions were just right. the staff is very friendly and we loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. we definitely recommend trying Swahili cuisine here. chakula itam

One word: delicious! Food is fresh and super tasty. They have a new second level which is really nice. The atmosphere was also great, African music was playing in the background. Can 100% recommend!

Fantastic restaurant. We are vegetarian and Jiwe's was the only place that we saw that had so many options. Everything we got was amazing - veggie curry, Maharage bean stew, Biriani. They provided complimentary chapatis for our kids and even provided local desert. Great ambiance with excellent music, lighting. Highly recommended just a short walk from the beach!

We came to this place because of its positive reviews on this platform. I must say I really enjoyed the service as the waiter was attentive and very professional. However, the food was mediocre at best. There was no coconut in a dish thay was meant to have coconut, mind you we are on an island. Also their portions were a bit on the small side for the price. The atmosphere was a tad bit tacky. The chairs were uncomfortable and one cant tell who is a waiter or not as they wear no uniforms. Again one waiter was excellent. Overall, I would not recommend the place for the food. Because the food and atmosphere were lacking the rave it was given and one good service person is not enough to make a restaurant worthwhile.

One of the best places to eat in Jambiani! We ate here two nights in a row - their curries with spice rice are amazing. So flavorful and delicious! The staff is also super friendly, and they are passionate about what they do!

This is an amazing restaurant, with amazing staff, delicious food, and a great atmosphere. We kept coming back here, also because it offers many very good vegetarian options (best in Jambiani!). The staff was so friendly and the taste of the food was just spot-on: really good local food and large portions. Also delicious juices and salads. Absolutely delicious and a little beautiful restaurant! Total lovely service, they didn't have an avocado and told us they go quickly to the next market - only for us and they did it so we can enjoy our sides! Would go here more than once.

Amazing food!! The boys who run this restaurant know how to cook. It’s definitely a hidden gem. The curry and king fish were fantastic. Definitely recommend for a dinner out of your hotel.

The best restaurant we could have in Zanzibar. The fish with green bananas was great and far beyond our expectations. We even ordered another one to take away. They also provide tour guides. Highly recommended!

You do not always eat this muzungu food? Eat swaheli kitchen, not because it is on the sign outside, because it is the food inside this little lovely and super friendly restaurant. We enjoyed it a lot. Food is awesome good price super tasty and good portions to get fed up in a good feeling. Just go to Jiwe and try (and they have good music as well).

A nice and cozy outdoor living-room at only a few steps from the beach. The decorations are very sweet and the people all friendly and welcoming. For sure the best restaurant to get swahili kitchen and the best to find vegetarian as well as vegan friendly food!

Absolutely high recommendation to eat here. Everything is to be recommended. We were at Jiwe almost every day and every meal was different. Many vegetarian options, which is not always common. We also took a cooking class which we definitely recommend to learn more about the culture. We will miss you guys!

We went to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon to try a delicious typical Suaihili food. We really liked the dishes, rice at the right point, with great flavor. One of the dishes accompanied vegetables in coconut sauce, very tasty and juicy. We certainly indicate the restaurant.

Absolute recommendation! The restaurant offers a friendly and pleasant atmosphere and has a good selection of dishes, all of which taste great in their own way. We had a few great evenings there, and miss the good food already!

It can be easily accessed from the beach or a maze of corridors through the village. An authentic experience and fantastic food in a real nice atmosphere. If you would like to taste swahili recipes I definitely suggest this restaurant one of the best in Jambiani.

Definitely the best food I had during 2 weeks on Zanzibar. This place is just amazing. The owners (2 brothers) are extremely friendly and very welcoming. The food is out of this world, so good and tasteful. Just delicious. The price-quality is extremely good. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. When you're in Jambiani: just go here! You won't regret. Eventually we ended up going here 3 days in a row 😅 They also do cooking classes and are open for lunch and dinner.
