We booked the hotel through booking.com. For some reason, the system showed that the reservation was made for 1 person instead of 2. (which we didn’t notice before arriving at the hotel). When we checked in, we were told that we would have to pay $ 500 per day plus for one more person. It was like $2500 for us. The price on booking, on the day of arrival, showed us the same price for 2 that we paid for 1 person. For 3 hours we were held at the reception, having phoned several times with booking, they agreed with us and contacted the hotel, asked them to change the number of guests and confirming that we should not pay anything plus. After, we had all the time with the Reception Desk Man - Simone. Who began to bargain with us as in a bazaar and not in a 5 star hotel and offer a new amount each time. In the end we had to pay +213$ per day. Simone clearly said to me - this is a business Madam ! So no, it's was our vacation! The customer is always right! I work by myself in the customer service industry and never allow myself to talk like that and drive myself so arrogantly with my clients!!! Apparently the policy of this hotel is that the client is wrong and we do not value our clients. As a result, the hotel refused to cancel our booking and return the money to us (although booking sent them such a request), but they said no! Simone strained us for two days and didn’t let us rest after everything, even after when my husband agreed with his offer… Because he wanted our credit card. We also wrote to the hotel, where we asked to come to a common decision, but the answer was that if we don’t like their resort, we can leave it. I just now read a review of a client of this hotel (that hotel had also demanded extra money from her booking through booking.com) Strange coincidence! The good thing about this hotel is the good Thai massage. Beautiful villas and food. Some drinks (even cappuccino come with extra charge).

This is a gem of a hotel. The grounds are gorgeous and expansive and the rooms are impeccable. The pool is big and absolutely lovely, but most importantly it is on a gorgeous stretch of the beach. I am a true cynic about all inclusive hotels, but this one was truly exceptional. Although most meals were either a buffet or set menu with two options, they would not hesitate to make any dish you prefer on demand. All of the food was very fresh and the Chef and sous chef were regularly monitoring the meal services to ensure the best quality. The spa is absolutely gorgeous, and I had a wonderful massage by their specialist. Most importantly for me, the service staff is friendly, kind, and really does their best to ensure you are having a great time. They also provide various water activities, including exploring the ocean floor during low tide which goes out wayyyy farther than you can ever imagine, it is truly mesmerizing. This is the hotel to stay in when you choose not to do to many outside excursions and truly want a great relaxing and luxurious experience in your hotel. The only downside to this establishment is how far it is from Stone Town and the North Beach where most activities are on the island. So if your ideal trip includes day trips and exploration, this is not the place I would choose to stay in. Overall, my stay was absolutely lovely.

Great resort, everything is great, and service is top notch. Everything is there, there is no reason to leave the resort. Spa is great, snorkling around the corner in the blue lagoon. Sports center is delivering great activities. Also for kids a great place to go to.

Baraza is the perfect upscale spa destination in Zanzibar. Fantastic accommodations, food and service, all with an Arabian flair. Simone, the manager greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome and everyone on his team followed his lead. The beach was the perfect spot for all the activities they offer as well as a place to e place the low tide pools filled with starfish and other creatures. We especially liked the private beach cabana and the quiet time to explore this eco friendly property. Though family friendly, it is a couples paradise too. We'll be returning with friends soon.

Baraza is arguably the best hotel in Zanzibar currently. Its modern take on the island's old Omani heritage provides an atmosphere of mistique and adventure throughout your stay. Its beachfront property is located at the south-east coast of the island, facing the Indian Ocean. Contrary to the northern coast of Zanzibar, the beach in the south-east is substantially more affected by the tide, meaning sometimes there's no beach at all, and sometimes you can walk out all the way to tye brim of the reef. This feature proved to be an asset, however, since their water sports center takes advantage of this by offering different activities depending on the state of the tide. As an example, I highly recommend the reef walk tour during low tide (you'll be provided with reef shoes) or kayaking during high tide. The property gets very windy at times, which is heaven for Kite-Surifing or sailing. The property contains also a fully equipped gym, a tennis court and a spa. Baraza offers full board, meaning all meals of the day are provided. This should not be confused with the traditional all-inclusive models which cater to large masses. Baraza offers an excellent culinary experience with set 5 course menues designed by their in-house Chef, buffets, open air grills and many more. No one goes hungry or unsatisfied at Baraza. The only real caveat of the hotel in my opinion is the fact that you're far away from any village or city, meaning most of of your evenings will be spent at the property and there's no chance to wander by to check different bars and restaurants out. Baraza more than makes up for this by their stellar food & drink options, however. Lastly, I highly recommend going on the dolphin watching and the turtle sanctuary tours. The Stone Town tour was far less impressive, the only thing worth spending time there was the slave trade museum in my opinion.

Rooms were great and very clean. What they do best is their exceptional service. Food was very good and they are happy to fulfill every wish. They were happy to prepare extra vegan dishes for me for breakfast lunch and dinner even if they had other vegan options on the menu/buffet. The kitchen crew was simply outstanding, thank you so much!

What can I say about Baraza. This place is incredible. Picturesque. Luxury. Indulgent. The staff here are superb. Attentive. Friendly. Genuine. The pool and the beach areas are immaculately kept. The food is incredible. The spa experience was out of this world! Peripheral things like the gym and tennis courts are perfect also. Special touches for our anniversary really made our trip. A hotel that really focuses on the small details that make a holiday! A special mention must go to the ops manager Simone! What a star. 🌟

We came here for our honeymoon and Baraza was a lovely hotel although a long drive from stone town and the airport/ port if wanted to do activities or day trips. Loved that they had some free water activities however the extreme low and high tide made it quite hard to do this/ sometimes even go into the sea let alone the lower beach which would get covered by the water which we were unaware of and was very breezy. We are thankful we did all inclusive as not much else out there nearby and the pool and other amenities were good. The surroundings, pool and service overall were wonderful and we were very happy to relax and unwind here. Really enjoyed their daily activities they put on and evening entertainment too! Only thing I would highlight is for the all inclusive, is that when we went there wasn’t the stereotypical buffet or a choice for menus for dinner. Baraza had a choice of 2 mains, the rest was a set menu just veg or non-veg. We would have liked some more choice in terms of food options as for some days we didn’t particular enjoy the food/ menu items as they were just not to our taste- just a heads up for future customers in case they are fussy eaters etc too and expect more of a stereotypical all inclusive menu. However the chefs were happy to make us something else if we wanted but had to tell them in advance earlier in the day. If you want to relax and just lounge by pool this is ideal for you!

Everything is perfect! Top quality of the service. Beautyful and green garden, good food. Just small remarks: sometimes small lizards enter somehow the villas (not easy to catch 😆) and during the ocean outflow it would be good the send cleanig service on the beach to collect few ocean gifts like plastic bottles or diapers.

Just amazing. All staff is efficient but discreet. We had a wonderful time for our honeymoon. Also some qualitative entertainments took place which we enjoyed Last but not least food was tasty, with a right balance between diversified buffets and tasteful set menus Would go back Nathalie

Beautiful hotel design. Lovely and attentive staff. A distance from Stonetown, though.

Beautiful and peaceful place & interior design inspired by the diverse ethnicities of the island. Staff very caring, just a reticence about food that doesn’t get along with the 5 stars standing

I rated location 4 because getting to Stone Town and Jambo Spice Farm we're an hour away. Jozani Forest was about a half hour away. I didn't look for anything else closer

The facility is perfect , food is good we book full board . Things need to be taken in consideration: Limited item in SPA menu Limited number of activities by the hotel, compare to other resort The beach is not clean , where in 5 stars hotels the beach should be clean in front of the hotel No Schatulle Service available by the hotel to near by attractions No yoga classes were available and if you requested for one you have to pay for instructor
