Beautiful
location,
shame
about
the
food
The
chalets
are
set
in
a
wonderful
tropical
garden,
full
of
hammocks
and
swing
chairs
and
lovely
decked
areas
where
you
can
chill
and
relax
in
the
shade.
Its
a
very
short
stroll
to
a
nice
beach
where
sunbeds
are
provided
and
swimming
is
safe.
Cats
and
kittens
pootle
around,
(which
was
a
bonus
for
me!!)
Lovely
view
over
the
bay
and
a
charming
bar/restaurant
area.
Great
free
wifi.
The
rooms
are
fine,
if
a
little
basic
and
somehow
not
as
luxe
as
the
photos
promise.
Beds
comfortable,
clean.
The
surrounding
jungle,
plus
overhead
fan
keep
it
from
being
unbearably
hot,
but
be
aware....hidden
in
the
small
print,
its
an
extra
$10
a
day
if
you
want
to
use
the
aircon.
Apparently
as
an
eco-lodge,
most
guests
choose
not
to.
The
problem
for
us
was,
it
just
felt
over-priced.
It
was
nice
but
not
fab,
and
for
the
same
money,
fab
is
easy
to
find.
For
the
same
$110
plus
a
night,
we
stayed
in
(and
retreated
to
(the
incomparable
Kholle
House
in
Stone
Town,
which
exudes
quiet
luxury,
serves
truly
awesome
food
and
delivers
immaculate
service.
The
welcome
is
total,
standards
are
skyhigh,
the
bill
is
smaller.
One
of
the
best
wines
ive
had
in
Zanzibar
is
$13.50
in
their
beautiful
garden
restaurant.
A
similar
bottle
is
$25
at
Mangrove.!
Ditto
the
food..
2
courses
of
(being
kind🤔)
disappointingly
average
food
at
Mangrove
is
the
same
price
as
one
of
the
best
lunches
ive
ever
eaten
at
6
Degrees
Bar,
Stone
Town.
And,
once
at
Mangrove,
you
cant
really
walk
to
anywhere
else,
so
i
guess
a
captive
audience
dictates
the
price.
I
guess
we
just
chose
the
wrong
place
for
us!
Everyone
else
seemed
to
eat
the
food
(we
didnt)
and
i
can
see
that
its
a
wonderfully
relaxing
tucked-away
haven
for
people
who
just
want
to
veg.
But
of
the
5
places
we
stayed
so
far,
we
felt
it
offered
least
value
for
money
and
certainly
lowest
culinary
standards.
