The shower in my bathroom was in the wide open middle of the room. The water splashed everywhere, and I could not contain the splatter to the shower area only. The hats hanging in the room are to be used only while I am staying there, and the hats are for sale in the gift shop. Does that mean the hats hanging in the room have been worn by other guests before? Yikes! For the prices the place charge for the stay, why not just give them to the guests? So I tried to buy some stuff in the shop, and no cash was accepted. Credit cards only. I try not to use a credit card when I am traveling because I have had an bad experience of getting the card number stolen and the card being frozen while I am unable to receive a new card! The furnitures in the room looks like they need to be replaced or reupholstered. Palau (or traditional local pilaf) served in the dining room is not real Palau. I ate it, but all of my Tanzanian friends and I agree that Palau here was not prepared the usual way. The place looks picturesque and tranquil, but for the price tag, that is expected, at least. I would have not given 3 stars if I did not get the spa treatments from Christine, an Iraqi, and Nester, a Masai warrior. They provided much needed therapy after 8 days in the safari, on the bumpy dirt road all day in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and the highlands. I was in much better prepared to fly back in a 20 hour plane ride. Acenti, Christine and Nester!

Absolutely wonderful experience here for our honeymoon. The room was fantastic, grounds were gorgeous and staff was unbelievable. Super close to the crater so was great to make this location home base for a few days. Food from the farm onsite was so tasty. Can’t wait to figure out when we are coming back!

Amazing landscape - like a tiny paradise. Fresh, homegrown and organic vegetables and fruits. Amazing food and friendly staff.

There is no words for this place. I can’t even get close to explain how wonderful the experience has been for us at Gibb’s Farm. For the moment that we stepped into the farm they made our day an absolutely experience. We were received with a welcome drink and a tour. Then we were directed to our room and let me tell you, the farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in my live and our room/house was absolutely stunning. For dinner they organized for me and my husband and amazing honeymoon dinner and they surprised us with champagne and the fire place on in our room when we came back. Again, a few words can’t explain how amazing this place has been to us showing also inclusivity with the LGBTQi community. Thank you son much.

A few places ooze serenity, tranquility and peace like this one does. Everything at the farm seems thoughtful and intentional. From the room decor to the food on your plate. The cottages are each individually decorated with their own theme. We were in the marriage room which had a great history behind it. The food comes straight from the farm and cooked to perfection!. Even the morning coffee we had was grown, roasted and brewed at the farm. Everywhere you look at this farm has its charm. The garden….. wow! Beautifully manicured with beautiful flowers, trees and wildlife. The pool was a little cold but nonetheless provided a good respite from the long safari we had just been on. They have a local artist resident who paints some mind blowing art. There is a gift shop on site which Sells beautiful handcrafted materials from key rings to baby rompers and dressing gowns. In the evening we were serenaded by baba Dingi and his crew at sundown and his songs still echo in our ears today. We had a private romantic dinner prepared for us with a romantic setting in the bedroom. There are several activities you can book from the reception including visiting the elephant caves, a tour of the farm, coffee roasting etc. The staff were all friendly and very professional. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway or a romantic honeymoon. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to be back.

I don’t even know where to start with this place. Best word to describe - Magical! Out of all of our accommodations during our honeymoon, this certainly was the most memorable. To begin our stay, we received private fireside dinner with the most gracious waiter to celebrate our honeymoon. When we entered our room, we were greeted with champagne, turndown service with a fire infront of bed was already setup. I can’t forget to mention the gorgeous bathtub and the 2 showers, one of them outside! By far, this is some of best farm to table food we’ve ever had. We already miss Gibbs Farm and can’t wait to visit them again.

Beautiful stay at Gibbs Farm, my only suggestion is to stay longer than 1 night to really experience all of the amenities. Our room was lovely, the fire place added a warm atmosphere in the evening. I will definitely recommend to my friends.

Loved this place. Highly recommend a stay here. The gardens are so very beautiful and well maintained. Staff are amazing, kind genuinely friendly, caring people. Lots to do here if you want to join in. The spa was amazing ‘recommend the coffee scrub’ it was so good. Was sad to leave. Well done everyone you really know how to make a holiday great.

A wonderful place in beautiful surroundings. One of the very best hotels I've ever stayed at. We spent a long weekend there. It is also a perfect stop for the safari visitor on the way to or from Ngorongoro. If you are one of the latter I do recommend that you arrive early and leave late in order to really enjoy everything. The food is absolutely top notch -- most of it comes of it's own lands. It is very expensive but worth every shilling. Great for the kids too with beautiful pool and farm activities.

The Gibbs Farm property is hands down one of the most beautiful and well laid out that I've ever seen - it is lush with flowers and plants, and the pool overlooks an insane rolling hillside of vegetation and towns in the distance - it's just stunning. The food was also amazing, no matter what we got at which meal. The prices are indeed a bit of an investment, but it was worth it. Staff is overall pretty good (although certainly not the best I've had/interacted with before or even on this vacation overall - I read lukewarm from other visitors and that's about right in my view). The only real downside to our visit is that we went on a bike ride to see the surrounding area and were brought almost immediately to a school, where we then disrupted the children's lessons so that they could sing us a few songs, ask a few questions, and then the school master asked for a donation. Now, I don't know for certain what will happen to the donations, but I fear that it doesn't go to the school supplies that the teacher claimed they would pay for. I would love if there was a different way that Gibbs Farm could help guests support the schools, if they chose to, and implement a policy that prevented visitors from disrupting the children's studies and potentially putting money into a vicious cycle that wasn't actually helping them. I have no idea if Gibbs Farm was even aware this was happening in the first place, but hopefully something they can consider for the future.

After 10 days in tents Gibb’s Farm was so very nice. The managers are the best and will chat with you anytime, service was nice and attentive. I am a bilateral amputee so the walk ways were handled with forearm crutches. We were still on safari and didn’t get to enjoy all the Farm has to offer. We could easily spend days there taking it all in.

This is a wonderfully managed, property. Nick Cooper, the manager, (I tried to hire him :) ), is everywhere and nowhere so you feel the touch of perfection and professionalism with the liberty to wonder around the beautiful property with no management in your face at all times. Special, professional, helpful, safe. Would go back now!

We had the most amazing honeymoon stay with Gibbs farm, special outdoor dinner, bracelets, champagne and pralines in the room. The room was simply amazing with a cozy fireplace and a nice bathtub. The dinner and breakfast were really really great. We wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a great time at Gibbs farm! Definitely not the place to stay for safari to the crater ( 2 hour drive) but a wonderful place to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy a beautiful environment. I would strongly recommend staying here after a few days of long safari to relax! Rooms were very nice and the staff was phenomenal.

A shadow of the stories we have heard about this place. The property is beautiful and the rooms/villas are nice. That’s about it. The service was disorganized. Communication from the staff about tours and checkout didn’t happen. Started with the Luke warm greeting. Indifferent and rushed. Poor communication on everything with a tour that showed us nothing. We had to hunt someone down to get any clue on what’s going on. We had an early plane so when trying to check out the front deck was closed. For dining service was also disorganized. Had several staff members trying to take our order over and over. And had duplicate drinks and bread delivered at multiple meals. The food was nicely presented and prepared but the quality of the pork and beef options was horrible. Mostly fat. It was shocking. This was are fifth property of the trip on our safari and by far the least impressive from a service/staff and food standpoint. Not even in the same league as our other lodging and tented camps. The one positive standout staff member was our tour guide for are crater tour, Vincent. Once we got connected to him for our tour for the tour that went well. This was pre booked and we had to ask many staff members to help us get the details an when to meet the night before. we had to leave very early (4:30) as the drive to the crater is serval hours away. Nevertheless he was a great guide and enjoyed. Plus one star for the review because of him. If you are going to the crater pick lodging closer so you don’t have such a long drive. From a wildlife standpoint I would go to Kenya or the Serengeti to see more animals and get much closer than the crater. All in all a bad experience. We do not recommend nor will we return.

We had very high expectations of this lodge. Sadly, many elements have disappointed us thus far (1 day into a 3 night stay) 1st, our greeting upon arrival was very awkward. We were standing in front of our safari vehicle after a long ride, and instead of a typical warm Tanzanian welcome, we were handed a drink in the car park and one of the "managers" read us a list of hotel policies, reviewed time tables for various activities, and prices for certain activities, with a special emphasis on which drinks were NOT covered by our all inclusive price. We were then told to present our passports to another "Manager", who did not even have the courtesy to look up from his computer screen to say hello. Our son's room smelled strongly of smoke ( from fireplace, not cigarettes) and this issue is still unresolved. Wifi does not work in our room, and when I mentioned this at reception, I was told to walk up the hill to another manager. Finally, we were told wifi wasn't working in our room and we should use our devices in the lodge. Although Gibbs Farm seems famous for its food, we are finding it mediocre. As we were leaving very early for a Ngorongoro safari, I asked the night before if we could order a packed breakfast. We were told "no", just come to the restaurant at 6 am and tell the staff what to pack for you. Well, the only items available were super sweet, unhealthy pastries. Nothing whole grain, no whole fruits, no proteins. We finally convinced a cook to make us some hard boiled eggs and part with a few bananas to take on the road. The packed lunch for the safari was awful - the vegan lunch was large slabs of white bread smothered in butter with several measly slices of tomato and cucumber, and a small container of oily rice salad with possibly 8 tiny cubes of butternut squash and zuccini. We still have 2 nights here and we are hoping things improve dramatically!

It’s a beautifulllll space. I loved the visit around the garden and the farm. The food though… I’m not sure if it was a one time thing, but our chicken and beef were both very dry

Incredible place to stay. Every detail is expertly crafted and thought of from the amenities in the room to the activities around the farm. Don’t turn down the morning wake up/coffee service or the fireplace in the room. 5 stars!

Amazing place to stay at. The attention to detail, service and food is unmatched. You get an eventful day, and even then feel relaxed. Every guest is greeted and taken care of very well.

Very professional, very polite. My partner went for a walk to the elephant caves and, an hour later, has not run out of exciting tales. It is expensive to stay overnite but a day visit should be within reach of any visitor and well worth the investment.

What an amazing place. Upon our arrival, every person that was working there was very attentive to us. The owner came personally to greet us. Everything was so wonderful and we have enjoyed our time very much. I recommend Gibb’s Farm to anyone visiting the area.

The Gibb’s Farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. It’s authentic, quiet and relaxing. The hotel is surrounded by its vegetable gardens and coffee plantation. The food is amazingly tasty, fresh and almost everything comes from the farm. The chef manages to make the most out of the vegetables and other products of the farm to deliver delicious dishes. 🥬🥦🌽 I definitely advise you to do the garden and plantation walk with someone form the hotel who will explain everything about their products. The hotel staff was very kind and always ready to help. There is wifi in the main building. The rooms were beautiful. The only negative thing I would say is that the beds weren’t the best… In general I definitely advise you to stay at Gibbs farm during your Tanzanian trip!
