Our stay at Kholle House was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a level of attention to detail that truly made us feel like royalty. Our room was beautifully decorated and impeccably clean, with every amenity we could possibly need. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep, and the air conditioning provided a welcome respite from the heat of the day. The rooftop terrace was a highlight of our stay, with stunning views of the city and a refreshing plunge pool that was perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring. But what truly sets Kholle House apart is the exceptional service provided by the staff. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was unforgettable. Overall, our stay at Kholle House was an unforgettable experience, and we felt like king and queen during our time there. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a authentic Zanzibari experience.

It's fantastic place here in Zanzibar. There are so many things to do while you're in Kholle House. The staffs are very charming and smiling every time when you go for front desk to ask for help.

It’s like an oasis in the middle of Stone Town. The staff was very friendly and kind. Everything was very clean and the decoration was very tasteful. It has a swimming pool and a lovely rooftop. The rooms were very comfortable, they have a restaurant in the hotel which was very convenient and had a lovely atmosphere :) great place really recommended !!!

Such a lovely place to stay in Stone Town! Historical building with lots of beautiful details, traditional rooms, beautiful atmosphere, great menu and friendly personnel. Very well located and central. Plus the pool and rooftop with the view. We had such a wonderful stay :)

Stayed in this beautiful boutique hotel for 1 night, the staff are amazing especially Fatima who made us feel so welcomed, explained the history of the house and gave us a tour. Unfortunately we had to leave very early in the morning so we didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast, the staff was very kind to ask if they should pack some fruits for us. Nice location facing the ferry station, walking distance to everything you need to see in Stonetown. They have a lovely terrace however due to weather it was closed.

I'm so pleased we chose to stay at Kholle House in Stone Town. It's a gorgeous property, staffed by a super friendly and professional team. It's immaculately clean, and the breakfasts in the courtyard are wonderful. It was raining when we first arrived, so rather than head out for lunch, we had lunch at Kholle House. Turns out, we were lucky it rained as the prawn, mango, and avocado salad and green pizza (pizza topped with LOTS of grated zucchini) was one of the most delicious meals we had in Zanzibar. A very special place - book it!

Our stay at Kholle House was absolutely lovely! Centrally located in a great area of Stone Town where you can easily step outside and walk to anywhere you need to get to. The staff were so welcoming and friendly from the moment we checked in, to the moment I checked out and needed help bringing my bags to my parking (in the rain!). Service at the restaurant was always on point and given with a smile - and the food was delicious! Lots of breakfast options, and Swahili style meals for lunch and dinner that are prepared really well, so you get a taste of local flavour but made with high standards. We stayed in the French Suite, which had so much unique charm due to the history and traditional architecture of Kholle House! I loved the colours and traditional style furniture. We had a small balcony that overlooked the courtyard and had views of old Stone Town, the port and the ocean. Everything was clean and comfortable, we had a safe in the room, air conditioning and high-speed wifi. I definitely recommend a stay at Kholle House due its location, amazing staff and service, clean and comfortable rooms and just the unique charm. You’ll feel immersed in history and get the true Stone Town experience!

We did not stay here. We went to have lunch. They have renovated the palace used by princess into a hotel. Rich in architecture and history. Locating this hotel is a bit hard. But the food was really tasty. However the menus have limited options and really worth the price. It gives you a very authentic old atmosphere. The staff is nice. I highly recommend the seafood main dish. Kudos to the hotel manager Mrs. Jena. She and her staff makes sure that you are WELL TAKEN CARE OF.

A nice small boutique hotel hidden in the backstreets of Zanzibar. Very centrally located. Walking distance to major attractions and resturants in downtown. Rates are very resonable, rooms were very clean and the breakfast was excellent!

In general a good and nice Hotel. Friendly stuff, beautiful interior and cool rooftop with a nice view. The breakfast is sufficient and yummy. Great welcome drink, clean rooms, toilets and pool. Nice smelling soap, shampoo, bath gel and lotion in the bathroom. Unfortunately there is no direct access from the street (or rather we didn't find it), so you have to walk about 2 minutes - in our case in a heavy rain, so we were totally wet - but that's totally okay. The big negative point is the triple room which we had. A double bed which is very comfy and more over a ramshackle co-sleeper for the third person. For that amount of money we paid, we expected way better quality for the third bed. Especially in comparison to the double bed / single room of a friend which even looked bigger that our 3 bed room. Another point is that there was a little bit to much lime in the shower.

Had a great lunch waited by a very sweet waitress. We had a short talk to the French owner. Very nice guy (the picture is just a joke). The place has an Indian touch to it with colonial furniture. I ordered octopus with mashed potatoes....excellent!!

One of Zanzibar's best and most memorable hotels, with a great location that puts all nearby attractions within walking distance. The staff was also very pleasant and helpful. We had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel, and they do serve a delicious breakfast! If I ever visit Zanzibar again, I will most certainly return and stay there. Their swimming pool is very clean and quite cozy. Upon taking your first step, the hotel will begin to tell you a narrative from the past! Sharing my own experience/review as we visited back in October 2017, I’ve recommended this hotel to all my friends! Sincerely, Rad

Why people are happy about this hotel is a mystery to me! The beds are really bad and small, guaranteed back pain. The rooms are super dark. And the lights are not working properly. When told they "fix" it, which means they don't do anything. There is no place to store your belonings and/our suitcase in the hotel room. So you have to just open your suitcase on the floor and make a big mess. The shower is at bellybutton hight and sprays all over the batroom. The faucets are super dirty. Breakfast has very little choice, not to even mention dinner which is worse. They charge $5 extra per person for anything on the roof, not unreasonable considering the extra stairs the staff has to take, but the roof is a mess so it's not a good experience. Also a lot of ship horns every morning. There is no nice comfy chairs in the garden to sit back and relax on. The swimming pool is more of a dipping pool. The manager is inpolite, she does not slove any problems and she takes forever with everything. When you check out and want to store your luggage for a little while this can only be done in an unguarded hallway anybody can enter easily and unseen from the street. All prices are in shilling, but when you pay (by card) you can only pay in dollars. Not only do they have very bad exchange rates, they also charge you 3% extra to pay by card. The only good thing about this hotel is Albert (one of the staff members) he is a lovely guy who is excellent at his job. He gets a 10 out of 10. But the rest of the hotel I would not advise to anybody.

Excellent location. The room is great for the location and price. The staff are friendly. The breakfast was great. The only problem is the the bathroom and bedroom are basically one room separated by a curtain, but thats what you get with a boutique hotel.

Cosy, beautiful boutique hotel with a history. Princess Kholle was the daughter of Sultan al-Busaid. Restored by a French man and his local partners according to UNESCO standards, this oasis in the heart of Stone Town is a testament to how the Princess could possibly have lived. The furniture and fittings add to the ambience and the grounds are cosy for breakfast and sit ins. The rooftop gives a panoramic view of the town , and the sea, with the Ports just a birds eye view away. Beware there is no tv or telephone in the rooms. No elevators so the steep stairs may be tasking to anyone with an impairment. Staff are super pleasant

We had a very nice stay at Kholle Boutique Hotel! The satff was super friendly, the food at breakfast and the restaurant were really good (the hibiscus juice is absolutely fantastic!). The whole hotel has been rebuild recently in ancient Stone Town style so it is a true piece of art and history. It is not uncommon to have other tourists stop by and ask permission to take photos of the beautiful doors and architecture. The bed was very comfortable so they must have changed things since the last bad comments two years ago. The hotel has a small but nice swimming pool. It also has a massage centre and can organize trips for the guest. It is also very well located to discover the old Stone Town One fair warning however: it is right next to an historical mosque so if you are easily bothered by the calls for prayer (which for me is part of the experience when visiting Muslim countries) you might want to head for a less authentic hotel :-)

I booked the Swahili Suite and immediately fell in love with Kholle House. The ambiance is exactly what I was looking for in a boutique hotel that emphasizes local culture and history. I had to spend a few days working remotely from the hotel, and the internet in the restaurant/garden and on the rooftop was excellent, if you need good internet. The staff were all really attentive and enjoyable to get to know. I tried almost everything on the restaurant menu and it's all excellent. Will definitely stay here again. The fragrant ylang-ylang tree in the garden on its own is worth visiting. The whole place has the most amazing scent thanks to this tree!

The one word I have to describe our stay at the Kholle House is INCREDIBLE! From the architecture, design and friendly staff this spot in Stonetown cannot be beat. I want to give a special shout-out to the staff that works here. From all my travels they were the absolute best. Their sweet smiles and excellent service and attentiveness was so appreciative and will never be forgotten! I will recommend all my friends and family to stay here if they ever travel to Zanzibar.
