5 star upon arrival! Rachel, the Sales Manager, happened to be on reception and delivered exclusively and excellent service. Top ambassador for this prestigious hotel. Chris offered to convey our items to our room, with grace and finesse. Local concierge service is 'probably the best in Windsor'. Breakfast is excellent with cooked options to order and everything else buffet style. Good vegan cooked breakfast is available with attentive staff. Located in the heart of Windsor, next to the Castle is the absolute 'top-stop' place to be. High grade dining with seating for small meetings or relaxing with family and a coffee. The number 1 hotel for weddings, meetings, breaks and events.

Great hotel with a beautiful location. I slept so well in this room. It's super quiet, and the mattress is excellent. The location is incredible, right by the castle. The breakfast is okay, but there isn't much choice and the coffee is very bad. However, the service is great, and the overall cleanliness is good. I recommend this place and will definitely come back.

I have been to many top eateries in England and abroad and for 2021, I can confidently say this was the best meal I've had by far. Service was excellent as per usual but the food was exceptional. We ordered from a set menu which catered to all tastes and the attention to detail and execution was an absolute delight. This is a perfect venue for romantic dinners or family meals and the price was more than reasonable. I highly recommend a visit.

I would definitely stay here again, the location is fabulous, the welcome when we arrived by concierge was fantastic, the gentleman was so helpful. All area of the hotel were clean and tidy. I was concerned it might be noisy, but you can’t here anything from outside . We didn’t have a room with a castle view, but we had a view over houses and hotels, it’s nice to see behind the facade of other buildings. The hotel is very close to the castle, walks and you have a great choice of restaurants, bars and coffee shops.

Just got home from a 2 night stay. The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Windsor opposite the castle and easy walking of all the shops bars and many restaurants (highly recommended the mango lounge Windsor, only a short walk from the hotel) Has on-site parking, at £39 a night it’s not cheap but it’s very secure and very convenient, for us it was worth it. The hotel was very clean, slept very well both nights, very quiet. We didn’t stay for breakfast as we thought £24 each was a bit much, there is plenty of options nearby for breakfast. Staff were all very polite and professional Even though it was very warm outside, inside the hotel was a nice cool temperature We would definitely book this hotel again if visiting Windsor

We stayed with our 2 dogs and felt very welcomed from the start. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, paying special attention to our pups😊 Nothing was too much trouble. The parking is very convenient! Highly recommend if you are travelling by car. Location is spot on, right opposite an amazing bar called the Shambles for great wine, coffee, nibbles and service, and really close to the Long walk and the castle itself. Rooms were clean, spacious and nice and quiet. The dogs were at home right away. Great place to stay, would highly reccomend.

The Molloy's and their dog Harry had the absolute pleasure of staying in this hotel last Saturday night. From the moment we had contact with the staff, at the time led by Michael the concierge, we knew we were in safe hands. They all went beyond the call of normal "good" service. It was excellent in all ways. They are friendly, intuitive and really care about their clients. I wish I could give then 6 stars. The actual hotel is splendid. The standard double room is decorated with impeccable taste. Lots of thoughtful extras like a coffee machine, a fridge, safe, and free water. The location is in the very centre of the City. I will recommend this hotel to everyone and definitely stay her again.

From start to finish we had the best stay. Was greeted by a lovely friendly member of the concierge team to help us park. He informed us of the Changing of the Guard times, where to stand etc . Our room was spacious and spotless with all the amenities you would want with a fabulous view of the castle. Breakfast was delicious as was our Afternoon Tea. Location of this hotel will not be beaten. All staff were professional and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel.

An excellent hotel in a superb location in the centre of Windsor. Staff are welcoming and efficient in moving luggage from car to rooms and being able to leave the car safely in the underground car park was a plus. The rooms are elegant and spacious with views across Windsor and of the Castle all easily accessed by lifts. The hotel is chic and modern in style but has a relaxing atmosphere with areas to sit & chat over a drink plus a stunning bar area. All of which together with a first class restaurant ensured a great weekend stay. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Amazing hotel. We stayed in The Ruby suite which had views of the castle, gorgeous room, lovely lovely staff who couldn’t do enough & were very friendly & welcoming, Breakfast & evening meals were excellent too. 2 minutes walk to the castle was priceless & our car was parked in their on-site secure underground car park with our own reserved space. Can’t compliment the staff & hotel enough.❤️

We have stayed here a number of times and will do so many more. Based right by Windsor Castle, everything about this hotel is great. The rooms are lovely, we had the Aquamarine Suite this time, and the beds are super comfortable. The restaurant has always delighted for both dinner and breakfast. The staff throughout the hotel are helpful and always smiling. Overall, it's first class in every way.

For the first time since COViD, we decided to splash out on an overnight stay in Windsor for our 6th anniversary. I had had a lovely stay a few years ago at the Macdonald hotel so I was confident of my choice. The concierge was lovely. On arriving at the room I have to say I was rather disappointed. It felt dark and unwelcoming. One of the cupboard doors was wonky and the bathroom definitely needed some TLC. I know the room was at the bottom end of the scale at £246 but I kind of hoped for that sort of money that it would be a little less tired. We went out for a meal with friends for that evening which was lovely and I thought the breakfast in the morning would make up for the room. After waiting patiently for a lift and then the lady to show us to our table she asked if we wanted tea or coffee and then disappeared quickly leaving us to work out how it worked. My partner managed to get a couple of things but there were no eggs or beans in the hot breakfast section and no sign of a toaster. He waited for about 20 mins at which point a gentleman showed another guest to their table and offered them coffee AND toast. By this time some more eggs arrived but disappeared again quickly as people were waiting for them. I managed to ask the lady who served us initially whether I could have poached eggs and toast which she went off to sort. 10 mins later the eggs arrived but no toast which I then had to ask for again. Our original server heard me say that I was vegetarian so said they could do some vegetarian sausages. We’d been there half an hour already by this time and I still hadn’t eaten anything so I declined explaining it was a bit late now as I had the eggs. I managed to get a couple of mushrooms but they were woefully under cooked and all the food was lukewarm. I was thoroughly disappointed. This is the first time we’ve been away for a night in years and unfortunately it turned out memorable for all the wrong reasons.

We had the pleasure of attending the Macdonald Windsor Hotel for our Christmas party. The food was excellent, the drinks were great and the venue was just right for us. Having a quieter seating area where the bar is completely out the way of dance floor/room was great to keep away from all the noise. Service was excellent, all the staff were extremely pleasant and smiley, happy to have a quick laugh with you aswell. One person really stood out, one of the bar staff called Reign. She gave all of us exceptional service and was very friendly.

Quality hotel, centrally situated - really enjoyed my stay. Staff lovely especially Alana the American lady on reception that I met. Car park is accessed by street at rear BTW and the chap running the car park was a really nice guy of Caribbean descent with just the coolest accent and totally professional. Staff here are great. Will be bringing my girlfriend back for a weekend stay soon.

The two concierge guys were amazing. Such a warm and friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. These guys really add to the whole experience. If you can get a deluxe room at the front of the hotel, you should do it. I’ve stayed in three room types here and it really was worth the little extra. Really spacious room and beautiful high ceilings. Even had a treat delivered up to us after we checked in which made us feel special. I asked in advance if we could have two rooms near each other and at the front and that’s exactly what we were given. We really appreciated that. We watched the Coldstream Guards parade from our window. My children were so happy. Thank you so much for a special trip. We will be back again next Christmas. Katie

We had a 3 night stay between Xmas and new year. We were met at the secure car park by the concierge (Dean) what a thoroughly lovely man. Helpful, friendly, chatty. That was the start of our time here. We had a peaceful, enjoyable stay. All the staff were friendly. Happy to help and polite. The stay was well worth the money..

We stayed in this hotel on New Years Eve and was so impressed. The room was absolutely lovely and completely spotless. The facilities were perfect. The man that was on the concierge desk on New Years night (sorry we didn’t get his name) was so friendly and went above and beyond to help us- he also made a fuss of both of children to make them feel special and even went as far as making a fuss of our dog who also loved the attention she got haha! We couldn’t fault the experience at all and will definitely be back in the future.

There were not USB points in the room at all. The door covering the fridge didn't shut properly due to problem with the hinge. There were water stains under the bathroom sink and taps, also there was an unsightly mark no the toilet seat. Would like to have been given option for a better view or informed at time of booking that the view wasn't great. Refers to room No.422 All the staff were very attentive and pleasant.

Excellent hotel despite I couldn’t find parking for my car in the hotel’s car park as it was full and they charge £39 per day (ouch)! I asked for the pillows to be changed as they looked very tired. Breakfast is great too. Overall, I recommend it.

I absolutely adore this hotel. My partner and I stayed there by chance and had the best possible stay. Great value for the money given the location and overall standard of the hotel. Great breakfast. And the staff - you won’t find better person for the job than Dean, he is elevating the class of this place even further. We are always happy to find an excuse to be in the area so we can stay here!

Used to be a great hotel. Now it is meh. The room decor is quite tired looking. The breakfast options are limited. The bed is not comfortable but the pillows are amazing. The workers are nice though. The only benefit of this hotel is the location. I stay here out of necessity for location and nothing more.

My partner and I had a wonderful two night stay whilst enjoying a Race day and Madness concert in August. Superb central location and only a short walk for the boat to the Races. Amazing seeing Windsor Castle outside your front door! A warm welcome on arrival, followed by very efficient and friendly Restaurant staff, nothing was too much trouble. I even left my make- up bag in the room and was posted to me by the concierge the following day! We would highly recommend this Hotel to make your stay even more special in Windsor. We’ll definitely return for our 4th visit.

Staff here are amazing. The service is second to none. unheard of in today's world. Really impressed by each and every member to mention a few: Martin, Chris, Aggy, Jack and Rachel. Super cool location. We will be returning for some sticky toffee pudding!

The hotel is right opposite the Castle and close to all the shops and restaurants, so ideal if visiting Windsor. The car park is a bit pricey at £39 but all car parks are expensive, the gentlemen managing the car park were very good and nothing was an issue. The hotel room we were in was quite small but comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, only minor issue was the toilet set was broken on one side and the blind cord didn’t work, but apart from that all good. We ate in the restaurant, food was fine but a bit of a limited choice, so you might want to try the other restaurants the burgers were nice though. We were in Windsor on a Thursday, it is a very busy place and the restaurants always looked full on our walkabout, nice shops and very clean

We had an overnight stay here on the way down to Blenheim Palace where we were going on the Christmas trail. I have stayed at this hotel previously on business where the conference room we used was fine and food and service were also very good. I chose this hotel again as it is central on the main High Street and our room (Room 304) had a view of the castle. The Hotel is ideally situated and everything is just a few minutes walk. The room was very good. If I was to be extremely picky - I would say that the TV, although flat screen, is a little dated now and there was no coffee capsules or milk available and we had to ask for it. We ate out in the evening but had Breakfast in the morning. A normal mix of Continental and English where you serve yourself. There is also a menu where you can order breakfast directly from the kitchen Another reason I chose the hotel is they have an underground car park. In December 2022 it cost £39 for an overnight stay. You should pre-book or let the Hotel know you will be using their car park. On arrival, you press the intercom button and the concierge will allow you entry. Same applies if you want to leave - you need to speak to the concierge to let you out. You can take a look at the 360 image showing Room 304.

A very comfortable stay at this hotel. Excellent location, right opposite the castle and a 5 minute walk from the river and the theatre. We upgraded to a deluxe room for some extra space, which did not disappoint. The bed was big and comfy, the air con worked. The bathroom had a heated towel rail (which you could turn off). A big waterfall shower, complimentary toiletries. A Nespresso machine (but no pods) mentioned this at checkout and got the upgrade fee deducted. Which we thought was very reasonable. Friendly and polite staff at both check in and check out. Definitely come back if we stay in Windsor again.

We stayed for two nights for a business meeting and the whole experience was exceptional! The concierge who greeted me at the car park, the reception staff at check in, the lady who looked after our meeting room, the restaurant staff…the whole teams attentiveness and willingness to provide exceptional service was truly appreciated. To top it off the food in the restaurant was varied & excellent, the rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed was super comfortable. After checkout I was escorted to the secure car park and the concierge handed me a bottle of water for my journey at the exit gate!! The whole customer experience was so well managed from the moment I arrived until the very moment I left! Thank you McDonald Windsor for looking after us so well!

So close to Windsor Castle, it is literally across the road. The staff are so helpful and ready to have a chat and help with information on what to see and where to eat. They helped with parking as well. Chris, Ali and Matthew were standout staff members and all respectful of their colleagues. We were able to walk everywhere. The Castle was closed so we would love to go back and stay here again. Thank you to all the staff at the McDonald Windsor Hotel you are exceptional.

First stay at the Macdonald Hotel in Windsor. We were greeted by the valet Dean, who was a very professional, friendly man and gave us a great first impression- and last impression when we left this morning! The room was well designed, clean and comfortable and the breakfast this morning was perfect. The only part that wasn’t as good was the overhead shower- it had very weak pressure. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay which was good value. Will definitely return when we stay in Windsor next time!

Me and my partner had a two night stay, Chris who greeted us in the car park was lovely, and so helpful. Staff on reception were great, all the staff were lovely and helpful, our room and bathroom were spacious, bed was very big and comfortable. Breakfast was first class, you were made to feel special, we will return, thank you for a lovely experience.

I just wanted to share that each and every person at the hotel gave impeccable levels of service to myself and our team. We had an overnight stay followed by a meeting room for 1 day. The concierge and gentleman manning the car park and assisting guests here was wonderful. I hope you pass these words back to him, he is a credit to your team. As is the lady who looked after us in our meeting room always on hand if we needed to support with further drinks and changing our lunch from the restaurant to working lunch in the room. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Had a great two night stay here for a wedding at the Guild Hall, which was perfect and just a 30 second walk from the main door of the hotel. Our view was also spectacular and breathtaking, allowing us to see part of the castle and the busy street below. The majority of staff here were excellent and couldn’t be more accommodating. The only thing to note is the hotel car parking. It is £35 a night, which is very expensive but convenient due to the location and ease of access. However, after receiving a notification that my car was unlocked - what they failed to mention is that the concierge could move my car as and when they wanted to (I assume for emergencies) and apparently it is stated in their T&C’s. I then spoke to the man who had moved my car, he said that he had to move my car as a bigger car was coming later on and was in a slightly bigger spot for it. (Which I was initially annoyed at as I specifically parked in that spot and needed easy access to my car to get things out of the boot for the wedding but had to take it on the chin). The main issue was that they left my car UNLOCKED for anyone in the car parking area who could have potentially taken anything from my car. We made this known to the staff that it’s unacceptable and they were in total agreement. If it wasn’t for the issue above my experience would have definitely been 5/5 stars!

My family and I stayed at the hotel this year over Christmas 24th - 26th December, we had 3 rooms five adults and one child. from the moment we checked in to the moment we left the service was excellent, both I and my two daughters have backgrounds in the hotel and hospitality industry ranging from budget hotels to the top 5 star hotels in the uk, and we all agree that the stay was excellent, the staff were so attentive from the waiting staff at the restaurant and bar through to the charismatic Matthew on the concierge / reception desk, nothing was too much of a hassle even when my son in law had issues with the heating in their room, that was resolved with an instant upgrade. Down to the small touches of the loaning us umbrellas to face the rain outside. I would fully recommend this hotel and their staff and hopefully I would get the opportunity to return again very soon. Thank you Paul Keates.

Stayed here for 2 nights it was lovely. Enjoyed it from the moment we got there the staff were very helpful check in was nice and quick. Rooms where nice and cosy bed which was great. Breakfast was lovely aswell loads of selections for everyone. Location is straight accross the road from Windsor Castle the reason I booked here to be honest and wasn't disappointed. My only problem was the parking my car I couldn't see anywhere online to book my car in or maybe I missed it not to sure either way I think it's £35 per night which is what we were told at reception and I refused to pay that to then be told it was full anyway. The train station is a 5min walk and it was £10 for 3 days so was a no brainer to be honest All in all loved it here and would love to come back

Booked afternoon tea here for a special occasion with a friend. We arrived to a completely empty restaurant and was served by an incredibly rude member of staff. The menu on the website is completely different to what was provided. All food was stale and inedible. The white bread was discoloured, salmon and egg and mayo sandwiches tasted very out of date, we were not able to eat any of the cakes as they were all stale. There was food ruminants stuck on the teacup as well as dirty cutlery. We fell ill shortly after. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The Hotel itself was very comfortable and in a perfect position for all your needs in Windsor. The Consierge was very friendly .Unfortunately that's the good part of the review. Breakfast was a totally different matter. The cold buffet was served on the Bar where people had been drinking the previous evening although it was very clean it put me and my friends off a little. Then came the cooked breakfast which was being served by a gentleman. The food was cold and when I asked for a second sausage and a runny egg his attitude was awful and I had to get into a verbal altracation with him which is something I very rarely do but having worked in customer service at a high level for over 36 years when the customer was always right I found it most upsetting. I was not the only one in my party he was unhelpful to. However do not be put off by this one member of staff perhaps he was having a bad day. All in all a clean comfy hotel in a perfect position.

Stayed in room 219 and was very happy with how spacious and quiet the room was. Incredible double glazing that kept out all the noise from the wedding reception going on beneath my room. Great facilities in the room such as the minibar and Nespresso machine. My only complaints were the bathroom, it wasn't cleaned properly. The taps in my bathroom sink were covered in limescale and water marks, aswell as the large showered head in the ceiling. The shower door had a large leak and my bathroom was flooded. The phone in the room was broken and kept on cutting off evertime I called reception. It would have been nice to have a phone telling you which numbers are for which departments. This is normally written in the key wallet or clearly displayed on the phone. Also instructions on how to connect to the WiFi would be helpful. The restaurant is overpriced and was disappointed as the menu in the room is different to the restaurant and was missing items. Breakfast was included in my rate and it did not disappoint. Despite the COVID19 precautions in place, the breakfast had a wide variety of options and all the staff were friendly, quick and always happy to help. The location of the hotel is perfect in the city centre and just across from the castle. Despite the few minor issues during my stay, I wouldn't hesitate to return or reccomend this hotel to friends and family.
