Not worth the hype. Couldn't get in on Friday night for dinner so made a booking for Saturday and were a little disappointed. The garlic flatbread was absolutely amazing but I can't say the same about the eye fillet or the apparently highly regarded risotto, which were both just average. The ambience and service were good but there honestly, there are better more interesting options around.

Have been a couple of times before n found meals delicious but last night was disappointed . I had scallops n prawns … they were very tasty but not many of each. Kumera was like a large pattie n looked like it was over cooked in a deep fryer plus took up a lot of the space on the plate. My husband had steak …. a little bit of potato mash n 2 onion rings n no other veggies. Very disappointed . Needed more veggies n a nice garnish

Amazing food, lamb rank was amazing and the flavour of the lamb and veges was amazing! Coffee and treat option was great. Service was a little slow but they were full, waitress was lovely and really made the night.

The best service. The best food. And the best ambiance. Did I mention the wine? Honestly everything was perfect but what really made this place was the folk that worked there. 100% committed to giving good times to those that dined. Will be back when in the Bay again.

We held our engagement party at the 4th Door Lounge Bar at 3 Doors Up and we could not recommend this venue more. The Lounge Bar itself was an incredible space and had a really lovely ambience for our party. We kept hearing how amazing the food was from our guests and the service was incredible. The communication and organisation of the function by the team made the night feel incredibly easy. To top it off, we had the most amazing bar staff who looked after us and nothing was an issue for them. Honestly, if you’re looking for a venue for your next function, look no further 😊. Thanks guys for an amazing night. 5+ stars!

We had a great meal here with the ciabatta starter and the steak and chicken for our mains, the steak was a great cut, cooked to perfection and super tasty. We both indulged in dessert. I would highly recommend for great food and atmosphere. Service was also very good.

We have just visited this wonderful restaurant. Wonderful food, great friendly service. Food was lovely and hot and quite quick at being served to our table We were taken care of by a lovely lady and we loved the different options she presented to us to make our dining experience fabulous. I had the scallops in panko crumbs but instead of chips I could have the potato galette with such a tasty coleslaw. My husband had the Beef Wellington. Great meals. I would so recommend this restaurant visiting Napier. Thanks so much.

It was our first visit to the Three Doors Up & what a very pleasant surprise. It was bigger than I had expected, with a beautiful ambience. Although the staff were extremely busy as everyone seemed to come in early to watch the rugby. They were still very attentive & we were never made to feel that they were rushed off their feet. We had Angela to take care of us, she was so helpful towards my dietary needs & making suggestions for me. I got the salmon special & hubby had the pasta, both were really yum. The wine was very nice, I had a local chardonnay & on ordering another same round again, Angela didn’t need to check what it was, she went & got it straight away, knowing exactly what we wanted. Considering the restaurant was so busy, she was amazing. Thank you for a great night & as locals in Hawkes Bay we will definitely be back.

Fantastic dining experience here. We had a group of 30 people, every meal was spectacular and the service was exceptional. Staff were lovely and really attentive. The chocolate brownie was the best I've ever tasted. I'll definitely dine here again.

Delicious food, a comfortable atmosphere and excellent service make this spot a must-visit. We had dinner on a Friday night - the restaurant was full but the wait times were short and food was top notch. Great selection on menus for both meals and drinks, with a good range of local wines and other drinks. Some yummy specials on the board made meal choices even more difficult, as everything sounded yummy! Lots of good seafood options, but also plenty for those like me who aren’t partial to seafood. The scallops (in several different dishes) and the ribeye steak were great. Thanks to Mila for her friendly and professional service, she made a great meal even more memorable and enjoyable. Hopefully we will be back to visit again soon!

About 5 or 6 years ago, my wife and I came upon this restaurant by mistake and didn't regret it. The pressure was on with this visit, that they maintained the memory. I'm pleased to say it delivered on all counts. Ambience, food, service and quality staff. All 4 of us tonight thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you and hopefully it won't be another 5 or 6 years.

Where do we start! Love love love, the service was perfect, lovely young lady and so attentive. The good was unbelievable, the scallops, fish of the day all cooked to perfection. The Baileys Crème Brûlée was out of this world. 1 min walk from The Crown Hotel , perfect location and lo Ely setting. Don’t go past this one you will not be disappointed, EXCEPTIONAL!

Since arrival in NZ in 2020, this was hands down the best Restaurant, Fantastic food, awesome staff and just a great atmosphere, the Beef Wellington was to die for and the Creme Brulee fantastic - best ever!

We were a big group (10+ people) and they were very accommodating although we made a last minute reservation. I had the fish of the day which was snapper - it was perfectly pan fried with a selection of roasted veggies and the yummiest gratin style potatoes. Taking two stars off because food took a long time to come out - we ordered around 7:15pm and the food didn’t come out until 8. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it’s because we were a big group and they wanted to make sure everyone got served at the same time. However, the most disappointing aspect was the lack of decent options for the vegans who were with us. There was just a pasta dish with tomato sauce, and given that this more of fine dining restaurant you’d expect something a bit more substantial especially given the outstanding quality and variety of the non vegan options.

Had a really sad experience here. We booked 3 weeks in advance and arrived on time. There were two of us, and there were several vacant tables for two available. We were directed to one of them immediately under the kitchen pass which meant we would be in the way of staff taking meals. We asked to be moved to a more private vacant table and were told they were all reserved for people who had not arrived yet. We thought it reasonable to question why, as we were already there, we couldn't take one of them. Both staff were firm in their response that we were to sit at the allotted table and were not prepared to negotiate, so we left and went elsewhere.

A very friendly and enjoyable experience. The wait staff were fun and joined in on our debates. The food was good (but not amazing). Prices were fair. We went in winter and were seated by the door so it was a bit chilly. A good time for sure, would recommend.

We were so disappointed with our recent dining experience here after visited many times while in town. We were in a separate room which was fine as we had kids but also meant we were forgotten at times. Never offered the daily specials and ended up walking through to the main dining area to take a photo on our phone. The beef Wellington (priced at $47) was an absolute disaster. Sited on the menu board served medium rare… it was about half an hour over. Well done with no pink to be seen. It’s strange as the pastry was soggy, I’ve had crispier pastry on a service station pie. We were never meal checked or checked in at all during our meal so I saved some to show the waiter. Sorry was the reply. And that was it. The scotch steak was a shocker. Very chewy and full of fat. The fries were watery in texture. Not fluffy and crispy. The whole experience was a let down and we will not be back.

Three Doors is our absolute favourite.! Anj and the team consistently provide an excellent menu, wonderful wine list and professional service with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We have for many years operated a very busy Bed and Breakfast with international and NZ guests, recommending Three Doors for guests wanting a special meal. We repeatedly had glowing reports back, that their meals had been superb and on occasions guests had booked for each night of their time in Napier!!! A heads up...... Bookings are highly recommended.

Welcomed on arrival. Caramelized onion bread was delicious, chowder and Calamari....until a long hair was found in the calamari. Potato and onion side dish at $8 was a very small serving. Coffee's were made went to the bathroom and they were still sitting on the service desk.

We had two dinners at this great little restaurant and highly recommend it. The menu is interesting, the food beautifully prepared and as a coeliac there was plenty of choice. The staff is knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. A beautiful meal full of taste with a host that made you feel welcome and a real guest.

We were visiting from Tauranga and staying at The Anchorage motel. We walked along West Quay looking for somewhere to eat but most of the places had music blaring and we were looking for something a bit more sophisticated. We found Three Doors Up on google maps and what a hidden gem. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend.

The fish of the day was gurnard. It was served with vegetables including young potatoes and asparagus. The saltiness of the fish was balanced perfectly with the acidity of lemon. The young potatoes were crispy at the edges, and the asparagus was crunchy. I matched it with local Sauvignon Blanc, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had.

Visiting from Auckland went there for the first time Sunday Night. The place was packed and wow from the excellent service to the outstanding quality of the food, we were most impressed. The chicken wrapped in bacon stuffed with prunes was unbelievably good and for dessert the lemon meringue was 10/10. We raved about the meal on drive back home next day. Our friends were right this is a restaurant not to be missed.
