Lovely interior decoration and great atmosphere, suitable for dates or family dinners. Our hostess/waitress was very accommodating and welcoming. We had the beef Wellington and the pork hock/pork belly with a side of fries and bread for starters. The portion is decent and quality is very good. The hock/pork belly was a little dry for me but it was still very good. The beef cheek Wellington was very moist and the pastry was super! It was definitely our favorite dish. The dessert was very good also. The chips and bread was a good compliment. They have a good selection of NZ wine and we got the Hopes Grove Syrah, very nice I must say. Would definitely come back next time I visit Hawkes Bay

An absolutely wonderful dining experience. Food, and the presentation of it, was excellent. Customer service first class. Led by Owner/Chef Jason, along with Maitre'd Abraham and Waiter Dean, it was a fantastic evening. Thank you everyone.

Service, food, atmosphere and drinks are absolutely outstanding! We had the set menu of 6 courses + a Devine dessert, it was more than impressive. The service was immaculate, and delicate, with woman served first and men right after, every meal was bought out at the same time and staff happily described the origin and flavours of every meal. If you are looking for large quantities this isn’t the place for you, however if your looking to try European style cuisine at the best quality in Napier, this place is a must try!

Without a doubt, the best restaurant that I have been to in Napier. The dining room is set out along a long and narrow building with the kitchen and bathroom toward the back. The decor is very unique and finished well. The food is the highlight of Bistronomy, changing seasonally it is well thought out. Service is also impeccable, our server knew all aspects of the menu. I would recommend Bistronomy for a date night or an intimate dinner with friends.

Faultless! The owners have created a world class restaurant at Bistronomy. The food, drinks, service, atmosphere and pace were all perfect. A unique restaurant not to be missed when in Napier. Bravo!

Excellent, interesting food and attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyed all courses (see pics) and good wine pairings. Given the quality of the food I think the tasting menu represented pretty good value for money. It's quite a small restaurant so reservations recommended.

Its a beautiful place and not to mention amazing view of the ocean. Its apparently the oldest cafe of Napier, it definitely does have the decor for it. Has lot of breakfast/ brunch options. People are helpful and accommodate vegetarians. Would definitely recommend it.

What a treat!! Husband and I felt like we were taken to Europe for the night. We had the tasting menu and were so glad we did. The food was exquisite. We both reckon it was one of our best meal EVER. The dishes were varied, well presented and very well executed. I am dairy free and I mostly didn't feel like I was missing out. The service was impeccable. The waitress was present to answer any questions and was very knowledgeable. The wines were fantastic... elegant and distinctive. How refreshing to find Gamay or Chenin Blanc on the menu too. The atmosphere was warm and modern. We will be back! Thank you again for helping us celebrate our anniversary.

(Translated by Google) This rib eye steak is the most amazing, so go as early as possible, otherwise the business is too good and it will feel very crowded. Reservation is required. (Original) 這道肋眼牛排最為驚艷,儘量早去,否則生意太好,感覺會很擁擠。必須訂位。

The stars are for the delicious salmon only. No drink was offered to me, no dessert was allowed as we were asked to leave two hours after arrival because they had booked our table out to another party - there was no mention of this when I booked the table. Very disappointing - Kicked out on my birthday at 8pm :( I see your reply - no apology? Yes I was late but that's irrelevant to not being informed on the 8pm booking, had dessert elsewhere was so hungry.

Exceptional busy night being mondayised boxing day. Good was very good as expected, ordered rib eye steak on the bone, ordered at $15 for 100g ,think we got 600g not as tender as hoped, also we ordered a 1/2 beef cheek Wellington very tender and wholesome, surprised not to find mushroom duxelle. Paired with a delicious decibel pino noir finished the dish off perfectly.

Our meal order was obviously misplaced as it took an hour to arrive. My main meal resulted in a bad bout of gastroenteritis unfortunately. The worst feature was the fact that the restaurant did nothing about the problem when I notified them the next day.

Exceptional in all aspects, aside from food and design I haven't seen a remarkable service like what we experienced at this establishment. Well done guys.

We were up from Wellington, and are big fans of the some of the wine bars down there (Puffin and the like). This place is great - fitout, wine list, service and general ambience. We just sat at the bar and had four half glasses and the staff were really attentive and accommodating. The glass pour list clearly has a focus on local wine which is excellent, but there is much more variety in the cellar list.

My friends and I visited during the Waitangi long weekend and the restaurant was quite busy when we arrived. The wait time for our meal was at least 45 minutes after we ordered (no red meats ordered), our starters and mains came out at the same time and there was little to no attention given to us during this time. This would have been understandable if the waitressing staff had been more friendly and had acknowledged the wait time when the food was served, however this was not the case. I ordered the fish of the day, which was very salty and I struggled to finish the meal due to this. Better service could have improved this overall experience significantly, will not be returning.

Buzzing place. Great food options. We choose the 6 course tasting menu which is good value. Service started out good - pleasant, informative and prompt - but then it fell over with the first 2 courses coming close together and then really long delays between courses. Then we had to wait at the counter 10 minutes plus to pay the bill!

  • 5/5 Tom P. 9 months ago on Google
Fantastic food and excellent service. Had the 6 course pairing menu. Each dish and paired wine were absolutely delicious, and the wines were great matches. They made the menu vegetarian at our request and we enjoyed the variety and innovation used for the different dishes. Lovely service and ambience. Recommend.

Had the degustation tasting menu with my gf, they were very accomodating as she had the vegetarian and I had the meat version. Food was incredibly thought it and a pleasant surprise with each course. We did the wine pairing and were blown away by some of the wine choices. Highly recommend the experience.

  • 5/5 Liz J. 2 years ago on Google
We had a delicious meal here with family. Each course of the tasting menu was individually wonderful and the staff were polite courteous and helpful. The vegetarian option was wonderful. Potentially one of my favourite degustation meals in NZ so far, beating top Auckland restaurants. I’ll have to come visit more often :) Thank you for your care and help when our family member had a medical emergency. We appreciated the calm support. All is well with us, and we are (and were) all Covid negative :)

The food was really nice, you can see the details and dedication in each course. I am giving 5 stars not just for the food Also for the great service, the French waitress made our experience 100% worth it. Was the first time in Hawke's Bay that the waitress took the time to suggest the menu and gave us some recommendation. Highly recommend for an intimate dinner.

Had dinner here tonight with my husband. Absolutely beautiful food and wine. Every bit of the menu was well thought out and balanced. Husband loved the six course option. Will definitely be back when we are in town.

My wife and I just experienced the full degustation and wine pairing experience here. There are few words that adequately describe the experience. Outstanding, exquisite, sublime don’t quite do it justice. From the moment we walked through the door till when we left, the lovely Swiss Australian girl and handsome French African gentleman treated us like royalty. Every dish was carefully introduced and its complimentary wine, loving described. Each dish, so perfectly presented and with flavours, so well balanced and complimentary.. it was difficult to eat without making audible noises of pure satisfaction. Gordon Ramsey who? This chef, is unparalleled. A genuine artist and artisan. Sir, you blew us away with every course. This experience may have cost a small fortune, but every cent was well worth it. A rare pleasure that will not be quickly forgotten. We thank you.

We wanted to like this place, but sadly we would not go back. The place was pretty empty when we showed up and there were easily 20 tables available. We had to sit and wait over 10 mins for them to set our table. The food was ok, but seemed to lack seasoning over all. Plus the prices were very high for the sizes especially what were considered mains but were appetizer size. The wines list is very over priced with charging over $20+ a glass for a $38 bottle. I felt bad because there was only one chef in the kitchen and no one else, not even a dish washer. Only 2 staff total on the floor, which I am sure is a reflection of COVID red status at the moment. The staff were very nice but moved with a lackadaisical vibe.

Our meal at Bitronomy was superb. We had the 6 course tasting menu and cannot recommend it enough. We didn't want to know in advance what was in store and each course was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and attentive, we can't really fault anything.

  • 3/5 L S. 3 years ago on Google
Feel a little disappointed by this place and I was really looking forward to it. The timing was completely off. Paired wines arrived half an hour before the food in each course so the wine was finished before food arrived. Almost 4 hours to get through 6 courses which felt a bit dragged out. Service was generally so so but sommelier was knowledgeable. Felt very let down by the chocolate mousse - not at all inventive or interesting. Overall not bad but felt a bit sad afterwards not helped by being stuffed into a corner between the coats and the toilet.

My partner and I sat at the bar in front of the Chef for dinner as they were fully booked on Thursday night. We had the chicken for a starter which was great and the rib eye to share, really enjoyed our meal and had great banter with the Chef. The place was buzzing and we will be back when in the area again❣

The 3 rd experience of fine dining / degustation menu. Once again walked in and the staff were very accommodating but had to sit at bar as no space even though I arrive at 8.15 pm. The food got served in quick pace. The set menu is part of their A la carte. I got house bread with cauliflower, sashimi and chicken wing for entree. For mains beetroot risotto and mussle fish fennel powder. The fennel powder was nice n new to me. Dessert was mocha cake I think. Overall 107$ with drink which is expensive as the food didn’t contain many expensive items. Thus value for meal is 3 or less but taste definitely 4-4.5. Reading other comments indeed the food quantity is small but if u r dinning a set menu then u do have 4 to 5 dishes to go thru n that fills you up with drinks. Guess if one is in 20s or a big eater, then yes food is quantity is tiny. The small quantity probably holds true for a number of degustation menus I have been too. Once again for an occasion / one time affair.. ———————————- Visited again Apr 2021. This time I was very disappointed. I reached at 2040hrs and the staff agreed to seat me but the kitchen was really closing and I would have preferred the straight answer of not being able to dine, rather than a half hearted attempt. Steaks and anything that’s took longer than 10 mins wasn’t allowed and neither was dessert.. I prolly Shd have left myself. I had chicken wings which weren’t wings at all but crispy fried batter on top of chicken pieces. 17.25$ for piece of 4. Poor taste and felt worse than kfc to be honest. 1/5 for value n taste. Organic chicken was 29$ which was a thick piece of chicken breast with not much taste. 1/5 for value n taste unfortunately. The cocktail Sicilian 20$ Was prolly the highlight. Overall 67$. Not worth it at all..

My partner and I agree our meal here was the best meal we had during our whole trip in New Zealand! I had the grilled bay fish, which was light and delicious. My partner insists on recommending the 12 hour braised lamb shoulder. We finished with the deep fried ice cream and whiskey caramel sauce, which was divine! The service was relaxed but attentive, so expect to enjoy a couple hours here.

My husband and I have eaten here before so whilst in Napier, thought we would pop in for something to eat. Walked in and were told to sit down and they would be straight over to take our order. No menus, water or service was given to us. We were completely ignored, sitting at our table for about 10 mins, yet they were serving every other person that came to the bar. We walked out and will never go there again. Absolutely terrible customer service.

Nice ...very nice...took a booking for my sister's 30th wedding anniversary...took the booking for when they are closed...won't be returning. I thought they could offer some compensation for the invitations being printed and maybe a big discount on the food bill. All that was a couple of bottles of cheap bubbles....way to ruin a couples day. Appalling.

We were looking for a more casual dinner tonight, so came across The Emporium, a gastro pub/restaurant right at the start of Marine Parade. The food was delicious, I had the beef croquette, which was recommended by our waitress Lucy and she recommended the side of carrots, both great flavoursome dishes. My wife had fish and chips, which was better than what I had for lunch, at another establishment. Lucy then recommended desert, now, Sara's orange desert is just WOW 10/10 We'll done you guys for providing great service and food. Highly recommended.

I am a fussy foodie, and it has been a long time since I have had such a combination of wonderful interior, fantastic service and beautiful food! It was the first 10 out of 10 dining experience I have had in about a year. The food was just exquisite in every way, both in presentation and in taste.

It was as good if not better the second time. Really outstanding value. The sommelier is worth the price of admission alone with excellent knowledge and passion, and no condescension. The food was outstanding for this price range. I'd go back in a heart beat - we had a great time as a group (5).

Really really good. Call for reservations. We went on a Friday night and they were pretty full. We sat at the bar, but I noticed at least one table was empty all night so whatever. We ordered the tasting menu w matching wines. Everything was so good. Favorites were the venison (I'm not quite vegan on vacation) and the plum dessert.
