Absolute must-do! A beautiful estate right on the bike/walking trail. Lovely wine and even better views. The host was so kind and pleasant. We did the self-guided wine tasting which was $10 NZD per person - 10 tasting wines for the two of us and two souvenir wine glasses. The wines are also well priced, so go home with a bottle of your favorite, for sure! Then you can walk around the property and learn about the history of the winery. Absolutely worth doing!

** Warning - very long review. Where do I start.. we have ordered 1. Blue cheese souffle. 2. The squid entry 3. Medium rare beef steak 4. Chips as sides 5. Brulee 6. Lemon tart. The souffle was just a melt in mouth experience, it comes with this jam like sauce which enhanced the taste of the souffle. The squid was very flavorsome yet gentle which was really nice start for the meal. The beef steak... The best steak I haven ever had. The sauce and other was great as well maybe not as great as other fine dining place I have visited but still very tasty and top notch quality. But the steak, the best I ever had in my life... Never would thought the steak can "melt in your mouth".. so juicy and tender, non of chewy business. I could just visit Napier again just to have this dish. Brulee and lemon tart too were amazing. Not too sweet or sour, everything was well balance and tasty. The tart was definitely house baked/made of cour along with all other stuff they would have served.. just wow with everything I had. With very kind staff and wonderful dining environment and experience. I thought I would provide my very first long and detailed google review to this restaurant. Definitely worth everything. Thank you.

Marvellous for our 47th Anniversary. Succulent meal and entrée ( salt n pepper squid!!) Very busy, no wonder. Covid protocols. Great service, helpful staff, positive dialogue, helpful description s of wine and food choice. Excellent timing of meal delivery. Nice hot plates. Had the lot! Coffee out on the lawn to finish. Thanks to Ricky (top chef) and Hannah ( top manager) I compliment how you complement each others professionalism. Having wined and dined in 12 countries in PC ( Pre Covid ) days this was as good as it gets!

My husband and I decided to drop by this estate for lunch because we heard it was the oldest estate in NZ and it was just a tourist stop that had to be made. We weren’t expecting the food to be good but we were pleasantly surprised! Food was really amazing. I highly, highly recommend the truffle cheese bread. I couldn’t stop myself from gobbling it down. The lamb was also very good. We had a couple of drinks to go with it. Simply delicious! And after that we spent some time taking pictures around the estate. You can also do wine tasting here but we skipped it as we had a long travel ahead of us. Overall, great place to dine and relax among friends. The view is just beautiful. Makes whatever you’re eating much more delicious ;)

Dreadful experience. Arrived around 2pm and got told they were fully booked but we could sit anywhere and have the bar menu. The waitress said the menu was “chips and whatever”. We then selected some items from the bar menu and ordered at the bar but were told that half of it wasn’t available because the kitchen was too busy and they “don’t have time to cut up any cheese for the platter”. Instead, we ordered a platter full of cold cuts, fried fish and a few slices of cheese. What we received was honestly disgusting. It was basically a platter of leftovers with a central dish of mayo which had a thick film over the top because it had clearly just been sitting out for a long time. The cold cuts were sweaty and gross. The sauerkraut, grapes, peppers, cherries etc were all just old and tired. The cheese was stale and had also clearly been sweating for a very long time. It cost us $55. We were absolutely starving and no one was making us feel very welcome so we just ate what we could stomach and got out as soon as we could. We also had to ask for water, napkins etc because no one paid us any attention. We were half way through our drinks when they started to loudly move all of the tables around us inside. If this is supposed to be one of the best wineries that New Zealand has to offer then that’s an embarrassment. Unprofessional, shoddy place with a phoney reputation

Exquisite setting and excellent service. They had many people to cater for and this is the reason I think my chicken was a bit over. I enjoyed my lunch here on the lawn.

The autumn beauty of the setting, combined with delicious food that was full of flavour and presentation with flair. Our party included a hungry young teen. There was quite a long wait for the meals to arrive, that was a tad disappointing. Will be better prepared in the future, as it was my first time visit.

Beautiful venue, very friendly staff and delicious food. We had a booking for 7 people at 6:30 pm on 27th of December but arrived an hour earlier, decided to change our booking which they helped us with a very warm and welcoming smile. Both who attended our table were extremely helpful, patient and friendly. Thanks for excellent customer service and great experience.

Absolutely incredible meal on their beautiful patio. We enjoyed their wide selection of their own wines plus incredible food by the chefs. This is one of the best meals I have had in years. The potato doughnuts, cheddar cheese souffle, and truffle bread are fabulous. We plan to come back and highly recommend!! We luckily were able to come in without a reservation but will make sure we reserve in the future to ensure we can eat here!

Great food. Amazing stuff. Awesome scenery. Staff was nice, Phillip was very kind and friendly. He explained and told us the story and history of the building/place and the wine, how its made. Good wine testing. Phillips explaining made it very interesting good to learn

Atmosphere and decor is excellent along with staff and service. I had a problem with flies while eating dinner. After talking to staff they were very apologize, repeating several times. Great place for photography. Highly recommended. Would have given five stars if it wasn't for the flies

Delicious as always. Wait staff was a bit green and awkward, but I'm sure they will improve. Winter warmers menu is great value and a delicious way to try dishes you otherwise wouldn't. A great place for a special meal

We had a lovely lunch and dined outside, it has a lovely atmosphere here. We had a baby with us and we were able to keep him entertained by going for a stroll to the fountain and gardens. The oysters were unreal, definitely recommend. We had the market fish and the beef eye filled, everything was superb 👌 Wonderful service !

Mission always forms part of our itinerary when visiting New Zelaand. We've visited here many times over the past 13 years and always love it. Great food and great wines. Just wish we could buy their wine in the UK.

We went as a small tour group and had the two course meal. The restaurant couldn't cope with 12 of us having starter /main main /pudding. We had to vote, so those who wanted a pudding lost out. Did question the waitress, but she said it was what the chef wanted!! It's a restaurant for goodness sake! The food was good.

First off…awesome setting. The food was over described and failed to deliver. Service …we had two bottles of wine and the server did not at any time attend to filling our glasses. Super friendly but not a great waiter.

The mission estate restaurant is one of the most delightful places to have a 5 star meal. Situated in the old Mission Estate seminary facing the vineyard and views over Napier Hastings you can expect to be served a plate of magic food that perfectly matches the superb wines on offer. Match a meal with a wine tasting and stroll around the estate is a must. Highly recommended.

Was a bit hungover to munch on too much. But the outdoor setting was a fine place for a cider and a catchup. Everybody else's food looked delicious, especially the venison entree

Fantastic meal at the restaurant with great service. We then carried out the wine tasting afterwards and tasted the fantastic range of wines on offer. I would like to mention the fantastic service provided by our server Phillip.

One of the best restaurants in Hawk's Bay, they do there best to cater for your needs. Their menu is very different, and the combination of foods are devine. The location and view is spectacular either for lunch or dinner. Don't miss this opportunity to experience fine dining.

Great venue always and a beautiful setting for a meal but its a shame the food never quite hits the highs expected. I had the fish and it was tasteless and overcooked and was in a bed of some also tasteless mush.. very disappointing meal overall.
