Lots of restaurants were closed on Monday so we went to Lone star cafe bar, it’s a good location, the service was good. We ordered the pork ribs added coleslaw and wedges the coleslaw had a lightly unnatural flavor, portion size was ample for the ribs but they were a little dry.

Bread was delicious soft and garlicky. Ordered roast pork , was a mighty helping, large wedged deep fried potatoes hit the spot, soft and fluffy inside and delicious crisp outer shell. Salad was nice fresh and crisp. Pork skin was very crisp. Pork itself was dry as the Gobi as it obviously reheated to long on oven. Nice friendly staff and atmosphere.

The restaurant was very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly. The bathroom was very clean and tidy. The drinks were fantastic. We were the only people in the restaurant but the time. I also did have to look for staff quite often to order drinks, desert menu and to ask for a dessert. We were still the only ones in the restaurant and it took about ½h to get my takeaway dessert. The food was very tasty but when 2 people ordered similar meals 1 presons chicken was extremely small (Some chips were almost as big as the bit of chicken.) I don't know if I would not go back just because of the inconsistencies and having to keep finding the staff.

Amazing food! The whole experience from start to finish is great, waiter was so friendly and kind. The food can’t get any better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food. Our daughter also got given a free T-shirt which was so thoughtful. Definitely family friendly...Will be back!

I visited Lone Star in Napier on 3 August with two other guests. The food was excellent and portion sizes generous. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Imogen was particularly delightful. She was friendly, natural and knowledgeable about the menu, offering advice with recommendations. She made a wonderful evening outstanding. I am so grateful for the extremely enjoyable evening we spent there. Thank you!!

My partner and I went out on a limb and decided to go for dinner at Napier Lone Star on Monday 11/10/21, after I had not been there for about 10 years due to the quality of the food from the previous owner's management. The Duty Manager, Alistair, was very welcoming and accommodating due to my dietary restrictions and provided a blanket for me as it was chilly outside. He and the other waiters were very attentive, completing meal checks and coming over when I looked their way for assistance even when it started to get busy, which coming from a past waitress is really important for customer satisfaction. I ordered a coke and it tasted like it was fresh out of a bottle! Every other cafe or restaurant I go to their ratios are really off with how they make their mixers and it always tastes quite bad. My partner was happy to see they had Panhead Supercharger available which is a fantastic craft beer. We were starving so we ordered the garlic loaf which was so yummy and fresh, and a good portion size. We also got the mixed bean dip with flour tortilla chips and it was so amazing, I wanted to recreate the dip at home haha. I ordered the Vege burrito for my main which came with a side of slaw and rustic cut potato chips and my partner got the classic Johnny Cash stash. Our meals were really delicious and we were so stuffed we couldn't finish them. Both our starters and meals came out quickly too. Thank you all for a lovely evening with great food and customer service, we will definitely be back!

Very busy, great food

Went out friday night, I've usually had decent times at most lone stars around the country but unfortunately this visit was disappointing. While the staff were friendly as usual the food we ordered was sub par. I got the venison and salmon. Both were beyond dry. The potato bake was tasteless and overall not the best meals :/ however first time having a piña colada and it was actually very tastey n came with a funky lil umbrella (big fan) also our side of buffaloe wedges? Literally less than 10 in the bowl -.-

Had a great meal like you always get at lone star. Breanna served us and was great with our toddler.

Friendly fast service. We were walk ins, not a problem, found us a table with a smile. Meals out in good time, and you can trust that Lone Star meal size and quality.

Last night my partner and I came in for dinner and the service was fabulous. Our server Josh made us feel really welcome and made the dine in experience wonderful. He listened to our order and without having to write it down got everything correct. He even noticed when some of our sides hadn't been delivered and went to get them for us without us having to ask. Fully recommend He gets a pay rise if he wasn't leaving 😊

Their steak dishes are amazing! Great size, and each dish comes with side chips 🍟 and salad 🥗. For the chips you can choose potato or kumara chips etc., and for the steak sauce we recommend chutneys 🤤. We also tried mushroom sauce but we thought that it was too watery (don't worry, we have told one of the staff so hopefully it will be all good now 😁)

Make reservations and prepare for a bit of a wait. Staff has indicated they’re running short staffed so please be patient. Family friendly atmosphere and a smidge on the loud side. Food is delicious and hits the spot!

I am speechless. This is the tastiest chicken I've ever eaten. The mushroom cream sause, chicken filling, salad, dressing, even buffalo potatoes.. all of them were so tasty. Definitely recommend Johnny Cash Stash. Pricy but worth it.

I had a Deer John and Pork belly, and they were both amazing. It was my first experience of deer meat, and I loved it. The staff was really kind, and the vibe was really good. 👌 although the table was a bit small to fit all the food. But overall, excellent service. Had chocolate pudding for dessert and definitely recommend. But for the non alcohol cocktail called 'the boy named Sue' didn't really like that one 🤔

Wow so good. So much food for 2 , taste was so good . They have first table which is amazing. Highly recommend . Pawns starter. Main stand by your lamb & BB king ribs. Dessert kiwi pav & longhorn cheesecake. Super tasty. The frozen passion fruit Margarita yum yum. Staff are top!! Thanks 😊

Enjoyed a great dining experience for Hubby’s birthday. It pays to book in advance and the booking process is super easy. Being a Saturday night the restaurant was fairly full, however, wait staff were quick to greet us and take our order after we were seated. Our table was in a lovely area of the restaurant. The ambience felt very relaxing and chilled. All our meals arrived within a reasonable time and very delicious. Staff were checking-in to make sure we enjoyed our meals. Overall, I couldn’t fault our evening. Would definitely recommend to others.

Had my nieces first birthday dinner here afew years ago. Food was so good i enjoyed the venison and the salmon meals. awesome customer service.. The staff came out and sung happy birthday to the baby.. Highly recommend this place.. Well worth it..

The customer service by the guy who seated us was awesome he was lovely. However the young trainee girl forgot our water we had asked for , was quite rude when it came to me ordering for my children as she assumed I was ordering off the children's menu for myself which clearly I wasn't when my two under 7 year old children were seated by her and can clearly see they cannot order for themselves. She was quick to snap and assume. The ribs were very sickening after awhile was very sweet but was lovely , huge portion. Different taste very orangey. My partner wasn't a fan of the coleslaw , it lacked flavour but his steak was cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was yum. My children enjoyed their meals and the attention they were getting from the waiter that seated us. The seats are dangerous as my daughters seat kept giving way from underneath her and falling over , rubber feet on the wooden chairs would help to prevent anyone else getting injured like this especially an elderly person. My daughter has bruised her tailbone from simply getting off her seat or reaching for her glass of drink. The disabled toilets/baby changing facility is absolutely revolting the smell that comes from that toilet is disgusting it lingers at the entrance way to get to the toilets. It is the first toilet on the left. Changing the nappy bin more throughout the service would help and adding the toilet gel inside the bins could help. I would not change my baby in there I would vomit from spending 5 seconds in there. But other than that the presentation was good , the service from the 2 male waiters and the Asian waitress was superb.

Served piping hot, and was tasty I ordered Pudding, even though I was full. I was expecting decadent, but it was average. I think they should change the ice cream from vanilla to French vanilla, or something creamy I wasn't there for the atmosphere. I sat bear the door, so was like a train station. If you want intimate, sit somewhere else. For me, it was fine. I just wanted some crispy pork

Amazing service. The servers were like so good and friendly. We walked in for our dinner and were greeted with a huge welcoming smile. They brought everything out super well presented, fresh and tasty. I usually like to hold the last star but Lone star Napier gets the last star as well. Would have given 10 stars if I was able to. Shout out to Nikki ❤️ Nikki provided the best service I've ever had at a restaurant. She knew the menu like the back of her hand, she never forgot about anything we asked for which was impressive because they were super busy! And she arranged a pavalova to be brought over for my partner because he mentioned it was his birthday. I didn't have to plan any of it and it was free. She also introduced us to the app where we got $20 off using a birthday voucher. She was friendly and bubbly and it made our night so much more special. The food was also amazing, it looked so good I forgot to take a picture of the mains before I'd started eating it. All in all an awesome night 🤩

We don't go out for dinner often as a family. We chose Lone Star as our experience at Lone Star in Nelson was fantastic. It was very disappointing. Our young son had the courage to order his meal and no sooner had he finished the waitress said "What's the Magic word!?" I asked to order and the waiter said someone would be back soon, he didn't seem interested and didn't check to see if anyone was going to come to our table, it seemed as no one had been assigned to us...the other tables had waiters coming and going No one came so I had to ask again. No one came to clear our table, I had to ask someone. I asked for the desert menu and was told I had to wait until our table was cleared so they didn't get dirty. I had to go and ask for the menus as no one returned. When we asked for the desert that came with the kids menu the waitress questioned my daughter about her age, despite it already being confirmed at the counter. We are not a fussy family but we left feeling dissatisfied as this was meant to be a treat for our family.

Very friendly service, nice steak cooked very well, just as I liked it 6 for tea four children and two adults. The kids enjoyed the variety of the kids menu and had to take a doggy bag of leftovers. Overall a great night finished off with a nice stroll along marine parade

Would have liked a booking for 6pm but was very full, we were still happy to eat at the 7:30pm service though. We had a trainee staff member he was really sweet and the staff supported him really well. My drinks were super yummy the meal was wonderful and came out in good time. They saved our family dinner. We went and took our two young kids and baby. We were very lucky to get a tea on sunday night. Brooke was amazing and served us all night. Even going the extra mile and making our kids giggle and even said they had to eat all their dinner to get ice cream. We didn't wanna argue with the boss 👌🥰😊 food was amazing. I highly recommend the prawn star. That sauce is crazy amazing!!! And the lone star coleslaw is lovely. we had the mocktails which was lovely with everything we had. Desert just topped off our night. Even though we struggled to finish our meals cause they were so big and we were super full. We made room for desert and the bonoffee pie was a hot on our table yum!!!!! Thank you for an amazing night lone star. Seriously thinking family dinner night is always gonna be there now.

Lonestar Napier. Arrived 5.30, asked for table for 2. As we were being shown to a table, we asked if we could have the one by the window. (We are from out of town). Our server was taking us there, when another staff member said 2 on 2. The window table would seat 4 people. There was barely enough room on the table once we had a drink each & the cutlery caddy also. Ordered and had garlic bread finished drinks & left. Currently seated at a large table at another resturant, the barman was more than happy to let us sit at one of the larger tables, even tho they were busy. Lonestar napier, you wont be our first choice next time.

Lovely staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our food and this is now apparently the 6yo's favourite restaurant.

I went with my mum, son and daughter in law, and their 3 children. The food was great, with a good selection on the children's menu. Mum had ribs and we had to ask for a finger bowl, which I thought would have been automatically given with a ribs order. The wait staff were friendly, but service in general was pretty slow. I'll go again because the food was so good.
