The service was really good, the food was amazing. I would 10/10 recommend and come here again. The naan was perfectly toasted, the butterchicken was perfectly seasoned, more than enough food for us 4 who came to eat. And prices are reasonably good.

Creamy thick sauces that go with delicious curries. $12 lunch fills the spot. Dinner dishes are just as filling that you have leftovers! ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜‹ This is hands down the number one best indian restaurant in Hawke's Bay thus far. The atmosphere, the staff, the presentation, the dishes and of course the prices. This team know how to make your night stress free. I feel that they take quality in making your food the way they would if your were in India. Great job, team!

Haven't been to this place in a while. Last time we went we got appetizers, that were these pieces of chicken coated in a yogurt sauce with onions and assorted vegetables. For the main meal we got butter chicken. It was sweet, creamy, tomatoey and paired well with its fluffy rice and buttery warm naan bread. I had also had a coke which was good as coke can get

Curry was tasty, tandoori chicken plentiful and also very tasty. Only thing that let the meal down was the chips, under cooked and not very hot. Having said that, would use again, as the flavours were great. Went again tonight, the onion Bjahi were perfect, the rice fluffy and once again perfect, and the curry had a depth of flavour that was delightful. Well done Star of India.

Canโ€™t praise these guys enough for great food, great service and hospitality as well as the fact they were fabulous neighbours for a number of years until their recent move from our neighbourhood. The food is always authentic and delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you so much Star of India ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒป

So disappointed. 3rd time now. They delivered left over chicken tandoori, dried out, inedible from the night before. This happened twice. This time, I bought a chicken korma to compare to the Red Chilli Indian restaurant, across the road. The korma sauce consisted of a sugary yellow goo, with no cashew nuts at all. Although there was a better amount of chicken, I couldn't enjoy the meal at all.....without the thought of just how much sugar was used in the making of the sauce and how it would affect my diabetes. I only managed a few bites. Unless they learn to take pride in what they serve to customers and use authentic ingredients, I'm not prepared to eat from here again. Maybe a new chef will improve ratings?

An unexpected visit on Saturday evening of labour weekend. Has starters of a mixed platter, before mains with bread. The butter Naan was great.

Asked if the vegetable biryani had fresh vegetables or if it was just frozen mixed vegetables. Was told it was a mixture of fresh and frozen. So I ordered. As I was given the meal the lady said the peas were fresh from her gardenโ€ฆ I thought it interesting she has said that.. it was because IT WAS ALL FROZEN VEGETABLES!!! They liedโ€ฆ Biryani was terrible. Would not recommend this restaurant. Poor food and liars. 0 stars.

We ordered 3 dishes, and a stuffed and plain Naan. The plain Naan was light and fluffy, and tasted great. The three main dishes which included a rice dish and butter chicken were all ordered as 'mild' rather than medium or hot. The dishes tasted ok, but lacked depth of flavour (maybe that comes with the hotter options?). Meat in all the dishes was minimal, especially in the case of the lamb rice dish. The stuffed Naan seemed slightly undercooked and was a little doughy. While a nice meal, the lack of flavour in conjunction with the limited amount of meat in the dishes left us feeling that we wouldn't be hurrying back.

Awesome Indian & great service. Bit embarrassing how often we order from these guys. The half serve option is great, make sure to ask for it though (doesn't say it on the menu).

We went several times before, the Indian food is among the better in Napier. There was a young indian lady behind the counter when I paid, she was very friendly. The guy behind the counter behaved like he didn't want to be there and was only willing to bring menus or take orders after he finished with whatever he was doing on his phone. Well, the food was nice. My wife had a daal and I had a Jalfrezi, both excellent. The chef is doing a fantastic job.

My favorite was closed so I did some home made butter chicken. Who ever I talked to was very rude a hung up on me when I just ordered 2 naan. The naan was very small and under cooked just like eating raw dough.

Good food. Easy location. The owners would not turn on the air conditioning on a very hot and muggy day despite us asking them. Service was somewhat bland and shabby too.

Best butter chicken in Hawkes Bay. I order it Indian hot, thick creamy and full of spices. Good helping tender flavorsome chicken thighs. Garlic Nana a good pairing!

Great place and ambience. Lovely from start to finish from staff. What really blew me away was how all the beverages were brought out on beverage trays, don't see that in many places anymore! The menu had a great range of menu items from traditional curries to something a bit more exotic and adventurous! Temperature ranges from mild, medium, hot and Indian hot. I ordered a Chicken Madras hot, however it was actually quite mild...should have gone for Indian hot. We also had a plain, garlic and cheese naan to share and these were delicious!
